Psalms 65

1 For the end, a Psalm [and] Song of David. Praise becomes you, O God, in Sion; and to you shall the vow be performed.

Au maître de chant. Psaume de David. Cantique. A toi est due la louange, ô Dieu, dans Sion; c’est en ton honneur qu’on accomplit les vœux.

2 Hear my prayer; to you all flesh shall come.

O toi, qui écoutes la prière, tous les hommes viennent à toi.

3 The words of transgressors have overpowered us; but do you pardon our sins.

Un amas d’iniquités pesait sur moi: tu pardonnes nos transgressions.

4 Blessed [is he] whom you have chosen and adopted; he shall dwell in your courts; we shall be filled with the good things of your house; your temple is holy.

Heureux celui que tu choisis et que tu rapproches de toi, pour qu’il habite dans tes parvis! Puissions-nous être rassasiés des biens de ta maison, de ton saint temple!

5 [You are] wonderful in righteousness. Listen to us, O God our Saviour; the hope of all the ends of the earth, and of them [that are] on the sea afar off:

Par des prodiges, tu nous exauces dans ta justice, Dieu de notre salut, espoir des extrémités de la terre, et des mers lointaines.

6 who do establish the mountains in your strength, being girded about with power;

— Il affermit les montagnes par sa force, il est ceint de sa puissance;

7 who trouble the depth of the sea, the sounds of its waves.

il apaise la fureur des mers, la fureur de leurs flots, et le tumulte des peuples. —

8 The nations shall be troubled, and they that inhabit the ends [of the earth] shall be afraid of your signs; you will cause the outgoings of morning and evening to rejoice.

Les habitants des pays lointains craignent devant tes prodiges, tu réjouis les extrémités, l’Orient et l’Occident.

9 You have visited the earth, and saturated it; you have abundantly enriched it. The river of God is filled with water; you have prepared their food, for thus is the preparation [of it].

Tu as visité la terre pour lui donner l’abondance, tu la combles de richesses; la source divine est remplie d’eau: tu prépares le blé, quand tu la fertilises ainsi.

10 Saturate her furrows, multiply her fruits; [the crop] springing up shall rejoice in its drops.

Arrosant ses sillons, aplanissant ses mottes, tu l’amollis par des ondées, tu bénis ses germes.

11 You will bless the crown of the year [because] of your goodness; and your plains shall be filled with fatness.

Tu couronnes l’année de tes bienfaits, sur tes pas ruisselle la graisse.

12 The mountains of the wilderness shall be enriched; and the hills shall gird themselves with joy.

Les pâturages du désert sont abreuvés, et les collines se revêtent d’allégresse.

13 The rams of the flock are clothed [with wool], and the valleys shall abound in corn; they shall cry aloud, yes they shall sing hymns.

Les prairies se couvrent de troupeaux, et les vallées se parent d’épis; tout se réjouit et chante.
