Psalms 34
1 [A Psalm] of David, when he changed his countenance before Abimelech; and he let him go, and he departed. I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall be continually in my mouth.
De David: lorsqu’il contrefit l’insensé en présence d’Abimélek, et que, chassé par lui, il s’en alla. Je veux bénir Yahweh en tout temps; sa louange sera toujours dans ma bouche.
2 My soul shall boast herself in the Lord: let the meek hear, and rejoice.
En Yahweh mon âme se glorifiera: que les humbles entendent et se réjouissent!
3 Magnify you the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.
Exaltez avec moi Yahweh, ensemble célébrons son nom!
4 I sought the Lord diligently, and he listened to me, and delivered me from all my sojournings.
J’ai cherché Yahweh, et il m’a exaucé, et il m’a délivré de toutes mes frayeurs.
5 Draw near to him, and be enlightened: and your faces shall not [by any means] be ashamed.
Quand on regarde vers lui, on est rayonnant de joie, VAV. et le visage ne se couvre pas de honte.
6 This poor man cried, and the Lord listened to him, and delivered him out of all his afflictions.
Ce pauvre a crié, et Yahweh l’a entendu, et il l’a sauvé de toutes ses angoisses.
7 The angel of the Lord will encamp round about them that fear him, and will deliver them.
L’ange de Yahweh campe autour de ceux qui le craignent, et il les sauve.
8 Taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man who hopes in him.
Goûtez et voyez combien Yahweh est bon! Heureux l’homme qui met en lui son refuge!
9 Fear the Lord, all you his saints: for there is no lack to them that fear him.
Craignez Yahweh, vous ses saints, car il n’y a pas d’indigence pour ceux qui le craignent.
10 The rich have become poor and hungry: but they that seek the Lord diligently shall not lack any good thing. (Pause)
Les lionceaux peuvent connaître la disette et la faim, mais ceux qui cherchent Yahweh ne manquent d’aucun bien.
11 Come, you children, hear me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
Venez, mes fils, écoutez-moi, je vous enseignerai la crainte de Yahweh.
12 What man is there that desires life, loving to see good days?
Quel est l’homme qui aime la vie, qui désire de longs jours pour jouir du bonheur? —
13 Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking guile.
Préserve ta langue du mal, et tes lèvres des paroles trompeuses;
14 Turn away from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
éloigne-toi du mal et fais le bien, recherche la paix, et poursuis-la. AIN.
15 The eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears [are open] to their prayer:
Les yeux de Yahweh sont sur les justes; et ses oreilles sont attentives à leurs cris.
16 but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to destroy their memorial from the earth. The righteous cried, and the Lord listened to them,
La face de Yahweh est contre ceux qui font le mal, pour retrancher de la terre leur souvenir.
17 and delivered them out of all their afflictions.
Les justes crient, et Yahweh les entend, et il les délivre de toutes leurs angoisses.
18 The Lord is near to them that are of a contrite heart; and will save the lowly in spirit.
Yahweh est près de ceux qui ont le cœur brisé, il sauve ceux dont l’esprit est abattu.
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but out of them all Lord will deliver them.
Nombreux sont les malheurs du juste, mais de tous Yahweh le délivre.
20 He keeps all their bones: not one of them shall be broken.
Il garde tous ses os, aucun d’eux ne sera brisé.
21 The death of sinners is evil: and they that hate righteousness will go wrong.
Le mal tue le méchant, et les ennemis du juste sont châtiés.
22 The Lord will redeem the souls of his servants: and none of those that hope in him shall go wrong.
Yahweh délivre l’âme de ses serviteurs, et tous ceux qui se réfugient en lui ne sont pas châtiés.
