Psalms 27

1 [A Psalm] of David, before he was anointed. The Lord is my light and my Saviour; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the defender of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Von David. Der HERR ist mein Licht und mein Heil; vor wem sollte ich mich fürchten? Der HERR ist meines Lebens Kraft, vor wem sollte mir grauen?

2 When evil-doers drew near against me to eat up my flesh, my persecutors and mine enemies, they fainted and fell.

Wenn Übeltäter mir nahen, mein Fleisch zu fressen, meine Widersacher und Feinde, so müssen sie straucheln und fallen.

3 Though an army should set itself in array against me, my heart shall not be afraid: though war should rise up against me, in this am I confident.

Wenn sich schon ein Heer wider mich legt, so fürchtet sich mein Herz dennoch nicht; wenn sich Krieg wider mich erhebt, so bleibe ich auch dabei getrost.

4 One thing have I asked of the Lord, this will I earnestly seek: that I should dwell in the house of the Lord, all the days of my life, that I should behold the fair beauty of the Lord, and survey his temple.

Eins bitte ich vom HERRN, das hätte ich gern, daß ich bleiben dürfe im Hause des HERRN mein Leben lang, zu schauen die Lieblichkeit des HERRN und seinen Tempel zu betrachten.

5 For in the day of mine afflictions he hid me in his tabernacle: he sheltered me in the secret of his tabernacle; he set me up on a rock.

Denn er deckt mich in seiner Hütte zur bösen Zeit, er verbirgt mich im Schirm seines Zeltes und erhöht mich auf einen Felsen.

6 And now, behold, he has lifted up mine head over mine enemies: I went round and offered in his tabernacle the sacrifice of joy; I will sing even sing psalms to the Lord.

Nun ragt mein Haupt hoch über meine Feinde, die um mich her sind, und ich will in seinem Zelte Jubelopfer bringen, ich will singen und spielen dem HERRN.

7 Hear, O Lord, my voice which I have uttered aloud: pity me, and listen to me.

O HERR, höre meine Stimme; sei mir gnädig und antworte mir, wenn ich rufe!

8 My heart said to you, I have diligently sought your face: your face, O Lord, I will seek.

Von dir sagt mein Herz, [daß du sprichst]: «Suchet mein Angesicht!» Dein Angesicht, o HERR, will ich suchen.

9 Turn not your face away from me, turn not you away from your servant in anger: be you my helper, forsake me not; and, O God my Saviour, overlook me not.

Verbirg dein Angesicht nicht vor mir, weise deinen Knecht nicht ab in deinem Zorn; meine Hilfe bist du geworden; verwirf mich nicht und verlaß mich nicht, Gott meines Heils!

10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord has taken me to himself.

Denn mein Vater und meine Mutter verlassen mich; aber der HERR nimmt mich auf.

11 Teach me, O Lord, in your way, and guide me in a right path, because of mine enemies.

Zeige mir, HERR, deinen Weg und leite mich auf richtiger Bahn um meiner Feinde willen.

12 Deliver me not over to the desire of them that afflict me; for unjust witnesses have risen up against me, and injustice has lied within herself.

Gib mich nicht in den Willen meiner Feinde; denn falsche Zeugen sind wider mich aufgestanden und stoßen Drohungen aus.

13 I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

Dennoch glaube ich zuversichtlich, daß ich die Güte des HERRN sehen werde im Lande der Lebendigen.

14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and let your heart be strengthened: yes wait on the Lord.

Harre des HERRN, sei getrost und unverzagt und harre des HERRN!
