Psalms 104
1 [A Psalm] of David. Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, you are very great; you have clothed yourself with praise and honour:
Benedici il Signore, anima mia, Signore, mio Dio, quanto sei grande! Rivestito di maestà e di splendore,
2 who do robe yourself with light as with a garment; spreading out the heaven as a curtain.
avvolto di luce come di un manto. Tu stendi il cielo come una tenda,
3 Who covers his chambers with waters; who makes the clouds his chariot; who walks on the wings of the wind.
costruisci sulle acque la tua dimora, fai delle nubi il tuo carro, cammini sulle ali del vento;
4 Who makes his angels spirits, and his ministers a flaming fire.
fai dei venti i tuoi messaggeri, delle fiamme guizzanti i tuoi ministri.
5 Who establishes the earth on her sure foundation: it shall not be moved for ever.
Hai fondato la terra sulle sue basi, mai potrà vacillare.
6 The deep, as it were a garment, is his covering: the waters shall stand on the hills.
L'oceano l'avvolgeva come un manto, le acque coprivano le montagne.
7 At your rebuke they shall flee; at the voice of your thunder they shall be alarmed.
Alla tua minaccia sono fuggite, al fragore del tuo tuono hanno tremato.
8 They go up to the mountains, and down to the plains, to the place which you have founded for them.
Emergono i monti, scendono le valli al luogo che hai loro assegnato.
9 You have set a bound which they shall not pass, neither shall they turn again to cover the earth.
Hai posto un limite alle acque: non lo passeranno, non torneranno a coprire la terra.
10 He sends forth his fountains amongst the valleys: the waters shall run between the mountains.
Fai scaturire le sorgenti nelle valli e scorrono tra i monti;
11 They shall give drink to all the wild beasts of the field: the wild asses shall take [of them] to [quench] their thirst.
ne bevono tutte le bestie selvatiche e gli ònagri estinguono la loro sete.
12 By them shall the birds of the sky lodge: they shall utter a voice out of the midst of the rocks.
Al di sopra dimorano gli uccelli del cielo, cantano tra le fronde.
13 He waters the mountains from his chambers: the earth shall be satisfied with the fruit of your works.
Dalle tue alte dimore irrighi i monti, con il frutto delle tue opere sazi la terra.
14 He makes grass to grow for the cattle, and green herb for the service of men, to bring bread out of the earth;
Fai crescere il fieno per gli armenti e l'erba al servizio dell'uomo, perché tragga alimento dalla terra:
15 and wine makes glad the heart of man, to make his face cheerful with oil: and bread strengthens man's heart.
il vino che allieta il cuore dell'uomo; l'olio che fa brillare il suo volto e il pane che sostiene il suo vigore.
16 The trees of the plain shall be full [of sap]; [even] the cedars of Libanus which he has planted.
Si saziano gli alberi del Signore, i cedri del Libano da lui piantati.
17 There the sparrows will build their nests; and the house of the heron takes the lead amongst them.
Là gli uccelli fanno il loro nido e la cicogna sui cipressi ha la sua casa.
18 The high mountains are a refuge for the stags, [and] the rock for the rabbits.
Per i camosci sono le alte montagne, le rocce sono rifugio per gli iràci.
19 He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knows his going down.
Per segnare le stagioni hai fatto la luna e il sole che conosce il suo tramonto.
20 You did make darkness, and it was night; in it all the wild beasts of the forest will be abroad:
Stendi le tenebre e viene la notte e vagano tutte le bestie della foresta;
21 [even] young lions roaring for prey, and to seek meat for themselves from God.
ruggiscono i leoncelli in cerca di preda e chiedono a Dio il loro cibo.
22 The sun arises, and they shall be gathered together, and shall lie down in their dens.
Sorge il sole, si ritirano e si accovacciano nelle tane.
23 Man shall go forth to his work, and to his labour till evening.
Allora l'uomo esce al suo lavoro, per la sua fatica fino a sera.
24 How great are your works, O Lord! in wisdom have you wrought them all: the earth is filled with your creation.
Quanto sono grandi, Signore, le tue opere! Tutto hai fatto con saggezza, la terra è piena delle tue creature.
25 [So is] this great and wide sea: there are things creeping innumerable, small animals and great.
Ecco il mare spazioso e vasto: lì guizzano senza numero animali piccoli e grandi.
26 There go the ships; [and] this dragon whom you have made to play in it.
Lo solcano le navi, il Leviatàn che hai plasmato perché in esso si diverta.
27 All wait upon you, to give them [their] food in due season.
Tutti da te aspettano che tu dia loro il cibo in tempo opportuno.
28 When you have given [it] them, they will gather [it]; and when you have opened your hand, they shall all be filled with good.
Tu lo provvedi, essi lo raccolgono, tu apri la mano, si saziano di beni.
29 But when you have turned away your face, they shall be troubled: you will take away their breath, and they shall fail, and return to their dust.
Se nascondi il tuo volto, vengono meno, togli loro il respiro, muoiono e ritornano nella loro polvere.
30 You shall send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created; and you shall renew the face of the earth.
Mandi il tuo spirito, sono creati, e rinnovi la faccia della terra.
31 Let the glory of the Lord be for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works;
La gloria del Signore sia per sempre; gioisca il Signore delle sue opere.
32 who looks upon the earth, and makes it tremble; who touches the mountains, and they smoke.
Egli guarda la terra e la fa sussultare, tocca i monti ed essi fumano.
33 I will sing to the Lord while I live; I will sing praise to my God while I exist.
Voglio cantare al Signore finché ho vita, cantare al mio Dio finché esisto.
34 Let my meditation be sweet to him: and I will rejoice in the Lord.
A lui sia gradito il mio canto; la mia gioia è nel Signore.
35 Let the sinners fail from off the earth, and transgressors, so that they shall be no more. Bless the Lord, O my soul.
Scompaiano i peccatori dalla terra e più non esistano gli empi. Benedici il Signore, anima mia.
