Proverbs 1
1 The Proverbs of Solomon son of David, who reigned in Israel;
Châm ngôn của Sa-lô-môn, con trai Ða-vít, Vua Y-sơ-ra-ên:
2 to know wisdom and instruction, and to perceive words of understanding;
Ðặng khiến cho người ta hiểu biết sự khôn ngoan và điều khuyên dạy, Cùng phân biệt các lời thông sáng;
3 to receive also hard saying, and to understand true justice, and [how] to direct judgement;
Ðể nhận lãnh điều dạy dỗ theo sự khôn ngoan, Sự công bình, lý đoán, và sự chánh trực;
4 that he might give subtlety to the simple, and to the young man discernment and understanding.
Hầu cho người ngu dốt được sự khôn khéo, Gã trai trẻ được sự tri thức và sự dẽ dặt.
5 For by the hearing of these a wise man will be wiser, and man of understanding will gain direction;
Kẻ khôn sẽ nghe và thêm lên sự học vấn, Người thông sáng sẽ được rộng mưu trí,
6 and will understand a parable, and a dark speech; the saying of the wise also, and riddles.
Ðể hiểu biết châm ngôn, thí dụ, Và lời của người khôn ngoan, cùng câu đố nhiệm của họ.
7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; and [there is] good understanding to all that practise it: and piety towards God is the beginning of discernment; but the ungodly will set at nothing wisdom and instruction.
Sự kính sợ Ðức Giê-hô-va là khởi đầu sự tri thức; Còn kẻ ngu muội khinh bỉ sự khôn ngoan và lời khuyên dạy.
8 Hear, [my] son, the instruction of your father, and reject not the rules of your mother.
Hỡi con, hãy nghe lời khuyên dạy của cha, Chớ bỏ phép tắc của mẹ con;
9 For you shall receive for your head a crown of graces, and a chain of gold round your neck.
Vì ấy sẽ như một dây hoa trên đầu con, Giống như những vòng đeo quanh cổ của con.
10 [My] son, let not ungodly men lead you astray, neither consent you [to them].
Hỡi con, nếu kẻ tội nhơn kiếm thế quyến dụ con, Chớ khứng theo.
11 If they should exhort you, saying, Come with us, partake in blood, and let us unjustly hide the just man in the earth:
Nếu chúng nó nói: "Hãy đến cùng chúng ta, phục rình làm đổ huyết người, Núp đợi hại vô cớ kẻ chẳng tội;
12 and let us swallow him alive, as Hades [would], and remove the memorial of him from the earth: (Sheol h7585)
Chúng ta sẽ nuốt sống chúng nó như âm phủ, Và còn nguyên vẹn như kẻ xuống mồ mả; (Sheol h7585)
13 let us seize on his valuable property, and let us fill our houses with spoils:
Chúng ta sẽ được các thứ của báu, Chất đầy nhà chúng ta những của cướp;
14 but do you cast in your lot with us, and let us all provide a common purse, and let us have one pouch:
Hãy lấy phần ngươi với chúng ta, Chúng ta cả thảy sẽ có một túi bạc mà thôi."
15 go not in the way with them, but turn aside your foot from their paths:
Hỡi con, đừng đi đường cùng chúng nó; Hãy cầm giữ chơn con, chớ vào lối của họ;
16 [For their feet run to do evil, and are swift to shed blood. ]
Vì chơn chúng nó chạy đến sự ác, Lật đật làm đổ huyết ra.
17 for nets are not without cause spread for birds.
Vì giăng lưới ra trước mặt các loài có cánh Lấy làm luống công thay;
18 For they that are concerned in murder store up evils for themselves; and the overthrow of transgressors is evil.
Chánh những người ấy thật phục mưu làm đổ huyết mình ra, Và núp rình hại mạng sống mình.
19 These are the ways of all that perform lawless deeds; for by ungodliness they destroy their own life.
Ðó là đường của những kẻ tham lợi bất nghĩa; Lợi như thể đoạt lấy mạng sống của kẻ được nó.
20 Wisdom sings aloud in passages, and in the broad places speaks boldly.
Sự khôn ngoan hô lên ngoài đường, Cất tiếng dội ra nơi phố chợ;
21 And she makes proclamation on the top of the walls, and sits by the gates of princes; and at the gates of the city boldly says,
Khôn ngoan kêu la ở đầu đường dộn dực ồn ào; Tại cửa thành, và nội trong thành người phán lời mình ra,
22 So long as the simple cleave to justice, they shall not be ashamed: but the foolish being lovers of haughtiness, having become ungodly have hated knowledge, and are become subject to reproofs.
Mà rằng: Hỡi kẻ ngu dốt, các ngươi sẽ mến sự ngu dại cho đến bao giờ? Kẻ nhạo báng sẽ ưa sự nhạo báng, Và kẻ dại dột sẽ ghét sự tri thức cho đến chừng nào?
23 Behold, I will bring forth to you the utterance of my breath, and I will instruct you in my speech.
Nhân vì ta trách các ngươi, các ngươi khá trở lại; Kìa, ta sẽ đổ thần linh ta trên các ngươi; Ta sẽ làm cho các ngươi biết những lời của ta.
24 Since I called, and you did not listen; and I spoke at length, and you gave no heed;
Bởi vì ta kêu gọi, mà các ngươi không khứng nghe, Ta giơ tay ta ra, lại chẳng có ai chủ ý;
25 but you set at nothing my counsels, and disregarded my reproofs;
Nhưng các ngươi đã bỏ hết lời khuyên dạy ta, Không chịu lời quở trách ta;
26 therefore I also will laugh at your destruction; and I will rejoice against [you] when ruin comes upon you:
Nên trong lúc các ngươi bị tai nạn, ta cũng sẽ chê cười, Khi sự sợ hãi giáng cho các ngươi, ắt ta sẽ nhạo báng;
27 yes when dismay suddenly comes upon you, and [your] overthrow shall arrive like a tempest; and when tribulation and distress shall come upon you, or when ruin shall come upon you.
Khi sự sợ hãi các ngươi xảy đến thình lình như gió bão, Tai nạn xông vào các ngươi như cơn trốt, Và sự ngặt nghèo, khốn cực giáng trên các ngươi.
28 For it shall be that when you call upon me, I will not listen to you: wicked men shall seek me, but shall not find [me].
Bấy giờ chúng nó sẽ kêu cầu cùng ta, nhưng ta sẽ không đáp lời; Sáng sớm chúng nó sẽ tìm ta, nhưng không gặp được.
29 For they hated wisdom, and did not choose the word of the Lord:
Ấy bởi vì chúng nó ghét sự hiểu biết, Không chọn lấy sự kính sợ Ðức Giê-hô-va,
30 neither would they attend to my counsels, but derided my reproofs.
Cũng không muốn theo sự khuyên dạy ta, Và chê bai các lời quở trách ta;
31 Therefore shall they eat the fruits of their own way, and shall be filled with their own ungodliness.
Vì vậy chúng nó sẽ ăn bông trái của đường lối mình, Và được no nê mưu chước của mình riêng.
32 For because they wronged the simple, they shall be slain; and an inquisition shall ruin the ungodly.
Vì sự bội nghịch của kẻ ngu dốt sẽ giết chúng nó, Và sự yên ổn của kẻ dại dột sẽ làm hại cho chúng nó.
33 But he that hearkens to me shall dwell in confidence, and shall rest securely from all evil.
Nhưng ai khứng nghe ta ắt sẽ ở an nhiên vô sự, Ðược bình tịnh, không sợ tai họa nào.
