Proverbs 1
1 The Proverbs of Solomon son of David, who reigned in Israel;
Παροιμίαι Σολομώντος, υιού του Δαβίδ, βασιλέως του Ισραήλ,
2 to know wisdom and instruction, and to perceive words of understanding;
διά να γνωρίση τις σοφίαν και παιδείαν, διά να νοήση λόγους φρονήσεως,
3 to receive also hard saying, and to understand true justice, and [how] to direct judgement;
διά να λάβη διδασκαλίαν συνέσεως, δικαιοσύνης και κρίσεως και ευθύτητος,
4 that he might give subtlety to the simple, and to the young man discernment and understanding.
διά να δώση νόησιν εις τους απλούς, και εις τον νέον μάθησιν και διάγνωσιν.
5 For by the hearing of these a wise man will be wiser, and man of understanding will gain direction;
Ο σοφός ακούων θέλει γείνει σοφώτερος, και ο νοήμων θέλει αποκτήσει επιστήμην κυβερνήσεως·
6 and will understand a parable, and a dark speech; the saying of the wise also, and riddles.
ώστε να εννοή παροιμίαν και σκοτεινόν λόγον, ρήσεις σοφών και αινίγματα αυτών.
7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; and [there is] good understanding to all that practise it: and piety towards God is the beginning of discernment; but the ungodly will set at nothing wisdom and instruction.
Αρχή σοφίας φόβος Κυρίου· οι άφρονες καταφρονούσι την σοφίαν και την διδασκαλίαν.
8 Hear, [my] son, the instruction of your father, and reject not the rules of your mother.
Άκουε, υιέ μου, την διδασκαλίαν του πατρός σου, και μη απορρίψης τον νόμον της μητρός σου.
9 For you shall receive for your head a crown of graces, and a chain of gold round your neck.
Διότι ταύτα θέλουσιν είσθαι στέφανος χαρίτων εις την κορυφήν σου και περιδέραιον περί τον τράχηλόν σου.
10 [My] son, let not ungodly men lead you astray, neither consent you [to them].
Υιέ μου, εάν θελήσωσιν οι αμαρτωλοί να σε δελεάσωσι, μη θελήσης·
11 If they should exhort you, saying, Come with us, partake in blood, and let us unjustly hide the just man in the earth:
εάν είπωσιν, Ελθέ μεθ' ημών, ας ενεδρεύσωμεν δι' αίμα, ας επιβουλευθώμεν αναιτίως τον αθώον,
12 and let us swallow him alive, as Hades [would], and remove the memorial of him from the earth: (Sheol h7585)
Ας καταπίωμεν αυτούς ζώντας, ως ο άδης, και ολοκλήρους ως τους καταβαίνοντας εις τον λάκκον· (Sheol h7585)
13 let us seize on his valuable property, and let us fill our houses with spoils:
θέλομεν ευρεί παν πολύτιμον αγαθόν, θέλομεν γεμίσει τους οίκους ημών από λαφύρων·
14 but do you cast in your lot with us, and let us all provide a common purse, and let us have one pouch:
θες τον κλήρόν σου μεταξύ ημών, εν βαλάντιον ας ήναι εις πάντας ημάς·
15 go not in the way with them, but turn aside your foot from their paths:
υιέ μου, μη περιπατήσης εν οδώ μετ' αυτών· άπεχε τον πόδα σου από των τρίβων αυτών·
16 [For their feet run to do evil, and are swift to shed blood. ]
διότι οι πόδες αυτών τρέχουσιν εις το κακόν, και σπεύδουσιν εις το να χύσωσιν αίμα.
17 for nets are not without cause spread for birds.
Διότι ματαίως εξαπλόνεται δίκτυον έμπροσθεν των οφθαλμών παντός πτερωτού.
18 For they that are concerned in murder store up evils for themselves; and the overthrow of transgressors is evil.
Διότι ούτοι ενεδρεύουσι κατά του ιδίου αυτών αίματος, επιβουλεύονται τας εαυτών ψυχάς·
19 These are the ways of all that perform lawless deeds; for by ungodliness they destroy their own life.
Τοιαύται είναι αι οδοί παντός πλεονέκτου· η πλεονεξία αφαιρεί την ζωήν των κυριευομένων υπ' αυτής.
20 Wisdom sings aloud in passages, and in the broad places speaks boldly.
Η σοφία φωνάζει έξω, εκπέμπει την φωνήν αυτής εν ταις πλατείαις·
21 And she makes proclamation on the top of the walls, and sits by the gates of princes; and at the gates of the city boldly says,
Κράζει επί κεφαλής των αγορών, εν ταις εισόδοις των πυλών· απαγγέλλει τους λόγους αυτής διά της πόλεως, λέγουσα,
22 So long as the simple cleave to justice, they shall not be ashamed: but the foolish being lovers of haughtiness, having become ungodly have hated knowledge, and are become subject to reproofs.
Έως πότε, μωροί, θέλετε αγαπά την μωρίαν, και οι χλευασταί θέλουσιν ηδύνεσθαι εις τους χλευασμούς αυτών, και οι άφρονες θέλουσι μισεί την γνώσιν;
23 Behold, I will bring forth to you the utterance of my breath, and I will instruct you in my speech.
Επιστρέψατε προς τους ελέγχους μου· ιδού, εγώ θέλω εκχέει το πνεύμά μου εφ' υμάς, θέλω σας κάμει να νοήσητε τους λόγους μου.
24 Since I called, and you did not listen; and I spoke at length, and you gave no heed;
Επειδή εγώ έκραζον, και σεις δεν υπηκούετε· εξέτεινον την χείρα μου, και ουδείς προσείχεν·
25 but you set at nothing my counsels, and disregarded my reproofs;
Αλλά κατεφρονείτε πάσας τας συμβουλάς μου και τους ελέγχους μου δεν εδέχεσθε·
26 therefore I also will laugh at your destruction; and I will rejoice against [you] when ruin comes upon you:
διά τούτο και εγώ θέλω επιγελάσει εις τον όλεθρόν σας· θέλω καταχαρή, όταν επέλθη ο φόβος σας.
27 yes when dismay suddenly comes upon you, and [your] overthrow shall arrive like a tempest; and when tribulation and distress shall come upon you, or when ruin shall come upon you.
Όταν ο φόβος σας επέλθη ως ερήμωσις και η καταστροφή σας εφορμήση ως ανεμοστρόβιλος, όταν η θλίψις και η στενοχωρία έλθωσιν εφ' υμάς·
28 For it shall be that when you call upon me, I will not listen to you: wicked men shall seek me, but shall not find [me].
τότε θέλουσι με επικαλεσθή, αλλά δεν θέλω αποκριθή· επιμόνως θέλουσι με εκζητήσει, αλλά δεν θέλουσι με ευρεί.
29 For they hated wisdom, and did not choose the word of the Lord:
Διότι εμίσησαν την γνώσιν και τον φόβον του Κυρίου δεν εξέλεξαν·
30 neither would they attend to my counsels, but derided my reproofs.
δεν ηθέλησαν τας συμβουλάς μου· κατεφρόνησαν πάντας τους ελέγχους μου·
31 Therefore shall they eat the fruits of their own way, and shall be filled with their own ungodliness.
διά τούτο θέλουσι φάγει από των καρπών της οδού αυτών και θέλουσι χορτασθή από των κακοβουλιών αυτών.
32 For because they wronged the simple, they shall be slain; and an inquisition shall ruin the ungodly.
Διότι η αποστασία των μωρών θέλει θανατώσει αυτούς, και η αμεριμνησία των αφρόνων θέλει αφανίσει αυτούς.
33 But he that hearkens to me shall dwell in confidence, and shall rest securely from all evil.
Όστις όμως ακούει εμού, θέλει κατοικήσει εν ασφαλεία· και θέλει ησυχάζει, μη φοβούμενος κακόν.
