< Proverbs 7 >

1 [My] son, keep my words, and hide with you my commandments. [My] son, honour the Lord, and you shall be strong; and fear none but him:
Mutabani nyweeza ebigambo byange, era okuumenga ebiragiro byange.
2 keep my commandments, and you shall live; and [keep] my words as the pupils of [your] eyes.
Kwata ebiragiro byange obeere mulamu, n’amateeka gange ogakuume ng’emmunye y’eriiso lyo;
3 And bind them on your fingers, and write [them] on the table of your heart.
togalekanga kuva mu ngalo zo, gawandiike ku mutima gwo.
4 Say that wisdom is your sister, and gain prudence as an acquaintance for yourself;
Amagezi gatwalire ddala nga mwannyoko, n’okutegeera, ng’owooluganda ow’omu kika kyo.
5 that she may keep you from the strange and wicked woman, if she should assail you with flattering words.
Binaakuwonyanga omukazi omwenzi, omukazi omutambuze awaanawaana n’ebigambo ebisendasenda.
6 For she looks from a window out of her house into the streets, at one whom she may see of the senseless ones, a young man void of understanding,
Lumu nnali nnyimiridde ku ddirisa ly’ennyumba yange.
7 passing by the corner in the passages near her house,
Ne ndaba mu bavubuka abatoototo, omulenzi atalina magezi,
8 and speaking, in the dark of the evening,
ng’ayita mu luguudo okumpi n’akafo k’omukazi omwenzi, n’akwata ekkubo eridda ku nnyumba y’omukazi oyo,
9 when there happens [to be] the stillness of night and of darkness:
olw’eggulo ng’obudde buzibye, ekizikiza nga kikutte.
10 and the woman meets him having the appearance of a harlot, that causes the hearts of young men to flutter.
Awo omukazi n’ajja okumusisinkana ng’ayambadde nga malaaya, ng’ajjudde ebirowoozo eby’obukaba mu mutima gwe.
11 And she is fickle, and debauched, and her feet abide not at home.
Omukazi omukalukalu, atambulatambula ennyo atabeerako waka,
12 For at one time she wanders without, and at [another] time she lies in wait in the streets, at every corner.
wuuyo mu luguudo, wuuyo mu bifo ebikuŋŋaanirwamu, mu buli kafo konna ng’ateega!
13 Then she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said to him,
N’amuvumbagira, n’amunywegera era ng’amutunuulidde nkaliriza n’amaaso agatatya n’amugamba nti:
14 I have a peace-offering; today I pay my vows:
“Nnina ssaddaaka ez’ebiweebwayo olw’emirembe, leero ntukiriza obweyamo bwange.
15 therefore I came forth to meet you, desiring your face; [and] I have found you.
Noolwekyo nzize okukusisinkana, mbadde njagala nnyo okukulaba, era kaakano nkusanze.
16 I have spread my bed with sheets, and I have covered it with double tapestry from Egypt.
Obuliri bwange mbwaze bulungi n’engoye eza linena ava mu Misiri.
17 I have sprinkled my couch with saffron, and my house with cinnamon.
Mbukubye n’akaloosa, n’omugavu, n’obubaane, ne kinamoni, ne kalifuuwa.
18 Come, and let us enjoy love until the morning; come, and let us embrace in love.
Jjangu tuwoomerwe omukwano okutuusa obudde okukya; leka twesanyuse ffembi mu mukwano.
19 For my husband is not at home, but is gone on a long journey,
Kubanga baze taliiyo eka; yatambula olugendo luwanvu:
20 having taken in his hand a bundle of money: after many days he will return to his house.
Yagenda n’ensawo y’ensimbi; era alikomawo nga wayiseewo wiiki bbiri.”
21 So with much converse she prevailed on him to go astray, and with the snares of her lips forced him from [the right path].
Yamusendasenda n’ebigambo ebisikiriza; n’amuwabya n’ebigambo ebiwoomerera.
22 And he followed her, being gently led on, and [that] as an ox is led to the slaughter, and as a dog to bonds, or as a hart shot in the liver with an arrow:
Amangwago omuvubuka n’amugoberera ng’ente etwalibwa okuttibwa obanga empeewo egwa mu mutego,
23 and he hastens as a bird into a snare, not knowing that he is running for [his] life.
okutuusa akasaale lwe kafumita ekibumba kyayo, ng’akanyonyi bwe kanguwa okugwa mu mutego, so tamanyi ng’alifiirwa obulamu bwe.
24 Now then, [my] son, listen to me, and attend to the words of my mouth.
Kaakano nno batabani bange mumpulirize, era musseeyo nnyo omwoyo eri ebigambo byange.
25 Let not your heart turn aside to her ways:
Temukkiriza mitima gyammwe kugoberera bigambo bye; temukkiriza bigere byammwe kukyamira mu makubo ge.
26 for she has wounded and cast down many, and those whom she has slain are innumerable.
Kubanga bangi bazikiridde, ddala ab’amaanyi bangi bagudde.
27 Her house is the way of hell, leading down to the chambers of death. (Sheol h7585)
Ennyumba ye, lye kkubo eridda emagombe, nga likka mu bisenge eby’okufa. (Sheol h7585)
