Numbers 26
1 And it came to pass after the plague, that the Lord spoke to Moses and Eleazar the priest, saying,

2 Take the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, according to the houses of their lineage, every one that goes forth to battle in Israel.
« Faites le compte de toute l’assemblée des enfants d’Israël depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, de tous les hommes d’Israël en état de porter les armes. »
3 And Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke in Araboth of Moab at the Jordan by Jericho, saying,
Moïse et le prêtre Eléazar leur parlèrent donc dans les plaines de Moab, près du Jourdain, vis-à-vis de Jéricho, en disant:
4 [This is the numbering] from twenty years old and upward as the Lord commanded Moses. And the sons of Israel that came out of Egypt [are as follows]:
« Vous ferez le recensement du peuple depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, comme Yahweh l’a ordonné à Moïse et aux enfants d’Israël, à leur sortie du pays d’Égypte. »
5 Ruben [was] the firstborn of Israel: and the sons of Ruben, Enoch, and the family of Enoch; to Phallu belongs the family of the Phalluites.
Ruben, premier-né d’Israël. Fils de Ruben: de Hénoch, la famille des Hénochites; de Phallu, la famille des Phalluites;
6 To Asron, the family of Asroni: to Charmi, the family of Charmi.
de Hesron, la famille des Hesronites; de Charmi, la famille des Charmites.
7 These [are] the families of Ruben; and their numbering was forty-three thousand and seven hundred and thirty.
Telles sont les familles des Rubénites; leurs recensés furent quarante-trois mille sept cent trente. —
8 And the sons of Phallu [were] Eliab, —
Fils de Phallu, Eliab. —
9 and the sons of Eliab, Namuel, and Dathan, and Abiron: these [are] renowned men of the congregation; these are they that rose up against Moses and Aaron in the gathering of Core, in the rebellion against the Lord.
Fils d’Eliab: Namuel, Dathan et Abiron. C’est ce Dathan et cet Abiron, membres du conseil, qui se soulevèrent contre Moïse et Aaron, dans la troupe de Coré, lorsqu’elle se souleva contre Yahweh.
10 And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up them and Core, when their assembly perished, when the fire devoured the two hundred and fifty, and they were made a sign.
La terre, ouvrant sa bouche, les engloutit avec Coré, quand la troupe périt, et que le feu consuma les deux cent cinquante hommes: ils servirent d’exemple.
11 But the sons of Core died not.
Mais les fils de Coré ne moururent pas.
12 And the sons of Symeon: —the family of the sons of Symeon: to Namuel, [belonged] the family of the Namuelites; to Jamin the family of the Jaminites; to Jachin the family of the Jachinites.
Fils de Siméon, selon leurs familles: de Namuel, la famille des Namuélites; de Jamin, la famille des Jaminites; de Jachin, la famille des Jachinites;
13 To Zara the family of the Zaraites; to Saul the family of the Saulites.

14 These [are] the families of Symeon according to their numbering, two and twenty thousand and two hundred.
Telles sont les familles des Siméonites: vingt-deux mille deux cents.
15 And the sons of Juda, Er and Aunan; and Er and Aunan died in the land of Chanaan.
Fils de Gad, selon leurs familles: de Séphon, la famille des Séphonites; d’Aggi, la famille des Aggites; de Sunit, la famille des Sunites;
16 And these were the sons of Juda, according to their families: to Selom [belonged] the family of the Selonites; to Phares, the family of the Pharesites; to Zara, the family of the Zaraites.
d’Ozni, la famille des Oznites; de Her, la famille des Hérites;
17 And the sons of Phares were, to Asron, the family of the Asronites; to Jamun, the family of the Jamunites.

18 These [are] the families of Juda according to their numbering, seventy-six thousand and five hundred.

19 And the sons of Issachar according to their families: to Thola, the family of the Tholaites; to Phua, the family of the Phuaites.
Fils de Juda: Her et Onan; mais Her et Onan moururent au pays de Canaan.
20 To Jasub, the family of the Jasubites; to Samram, the family of the Samramites.
Voici les fils de Juda selon leurs familles: de Séla, la famille des Sélaïtes; de Pharès, la famille des Pharésites; de Zaré, la famille des Zaréites. —
21 These [are] the families of Issachar according to their numbering, sixty-four thousand and four hundred.
Les fils de Pharès furent: de Hesron, la famille des Hesronites; de Hamul, la famille des Hamulites. —
22 The sons of Zabulon according to their families: to Sared, the family of the Saredites; to Allon, the family of the Allonites; to Allel, the family of the Allelites.
Telles sont les familles de Juda, selon leurs recensés: soixante-seize mille cinq cents.
23 These [are] the families of Zabulon according to their numbering, sixty thousand and five hundred.
Fils d’Issachar selon leurs familles: de Thola, la famille des Tholaïtes; de Phua, la famille des Phuaïtes;
24 The sons of Gad according to their families: to Saphon, the family of the Saphonites; to Angi, the family of the Angites; to Suni, the family of the Sunites;
de Jasub, la famille des Jasubites; de Semran, la famille des Semranites.
25 to Azeni, the family of the Azenites; to Addi, the family of the Addites:
Telles sont les familles d’Issachar, selon leurs recensés: soixante-quatre mille trois cents.
26 to Aroadi, the family of the Aroadites; to Ariel, the family of the Arielites.
Fils de Zabulon selon leurs familles: de Sared, la famille des Sarédites; d’Elon, la famille des Elonites; de Jalel, la famille des Jalélites.
27 These [are] the families of the children of Gad according to their numbering, forty-four thousand and five hundred.
Telles sont les familles issues de Zabulon, selon leurs recensés: soixante mille cinq cents.
28 The sons of Aser according to their families; to Jamin, the family of the Jaminites; to Jesu, the family of the Jesusites; to Baria, the family of the Bariaites.
Fils de Joseph selon leurs familles: Manassé et Ephraïm.
29 To Chober, the family of the Choberites; to Melchiel, the family of the Melchielites.
Fils de Manassé: de Machir, la famille des Machirites. — Machir engendra Galaad; de Galaad, la famille des Galaadites. —
30 And the name of the daughter of Aser, Sara.
Voici les fils de Galaad: Jézer, d’où la famille des Jézérites; de Hélec, la famille des Hélicites;
31 These [are] the families of Aser according to their numbering, forty-three thousand and four hundred.
Asriel, d’où la famille des Asriélites; Séchem, d’où la famille des Séchémites;
32 The sons of Joseph according to their families, Manasse and Ephraim.
Sémida, d’où la famille de Sémidaïtes; Hépher, d’où la famille des Héphrites.
33 The sons of Manasse. To Machir the family of the Machirites; and Machir begot Galaad: to Galaad, the family of the Galaadites.
Salphaad, fils d’Hépher, n’eut pas de fils, mais il eut des filles. Voici les noms des filles de Salphaad: Maala, Noa, Hégla, Melcha et Thersa. —
34 And these [are] the sons of Galaad; to Achiezer, the family of the Achiezerites; to Cheleg, the family of the Chelegites.
Telles sont les familles de Manassé; leurs recensés furent cinquante-deux mille sept cents.
35 To Esriel, the family of the Esrielites; to Sychem, the family of the Sychemites.
Voici les fils d’Ephraïm selon leurs familles: de Suthala, la famille des Suthalaïtes; de Bécher, la famille des Béchrites; de Théhen, la famille des Théhénites. —
36 To Symaer, the family of the Symaerites; and to Opher, the family of the Opherites.
Voici les fils de Suthala: d’Héran, la famille des Héranites. —
37 And to Salpaad the son of Opher there were no sons, but daughters: and these [were] the names of the daughters of Salpaad; Mala, and Nua, and Egla, and Melcha, and Thersa.
Telles sont les familles des fils d’Ephraïm, selon leurs recensés: trente-deux mille cinq cents. Ce sont là les fils de Joseph, selon leurs familles.
38 These [are] the families of Manasse according to their numbering, fifty-two thousand and seven hundred.
Fils de Benjamin, selon leurs familles: de Béla, la famille des Bélaïtes; d’Asbel, la famille des Asbélites; d’Ahiram, la famille des Ahiramites;
39 And these [are] the children of Ephraim; to Suthala, the family of the Suthalanites; to Tanach, the family of the Tanachites.
de Supham, la famille des Suphamites; de Hupham, la famille des Huphamites. —
40 These [are] the sons of Suthala; to Eden, the family of the Edenites.
Les fils de Béla furent Héred et Noéman; de Héred, la famille des Hérédites; de Noéman, la famille des Noémanites. —
41 These [are] the families of Ephraim according to their numbering, thirty-two thousand and five hundred: these [are] the families of the children of Joseph according to their families.
Tels sont les fils de Benjamin, selon leurs familles, et leurs recensés furent quarante-cinq mille six cents.
42 The sons of Benjamin according to their families; to Bale, the family of the Balites; to Asyber, the family of the Asyberites; to Jachiran, the family of the Jachiranites.
Voici les fils de Dan, selon leurs familles: de Suham descend la famille des Suhamites. Telles sont les familles de Dan, selon leurs familles.
43 To Sophan, the family of the Sophanites.
Total des familles des Suhamites, selon leurs recensés: soixante-quatre mille quatre cents.
44 And the sons of Bale were Adar and Noeman; to Adar, the family of the Adarites; and to Noeman, the family of the Noemanites.
Fils d’Aser, selon leurs familles: de Jemna, la famille des Jemnites; de Jessui, la famille des Jessuites; de Brié, la famille des Briéïtes. —
45 These [are] the sons of Benjamin by their families according to their numbering, thirty-five thousand and five hundred.
Des fils de Brié: de Héber, la famille des Hébrites; de Melchiel, la famille des Melchiélites. —
46 And the sons of Dan according to their families; to Same, the family of the Sameites; these [are] the families of Dan according to their families.
Le nom de la fille d’Aser était Sara. —
47 All the families of Samei according to their numbering, sixty-four thousand and four hundred.
Telles sont les familles des fils d’Aser, d’après leurs recensés: cinquante-trois mille quatre cents.
48 The sons of Nephthali according to their families; to Asiel, the family of the Asielites; to Gauni, the family of the Gaunites.
Fils de Nephthali, selon leurs familles: de Jésiel, la famille des Jésiélites; de Guni, la famille des Gunites;
49 To Jeser, the family of the Jeserites; to Sellem, the family of the Sellemites.
de Jéser, la famille des Jésérites; de Sellem, la famille des Sélémites.
50 These [are] the families of Nephthali, according to their numbering, forty thousand and three hundred.
Telles sont les familles de Nephthali, selon leurs familles, et leurs recensés furent quarante-cinq mille quatre cents.
51 This [is] the numbering of the children of Israel, six hundred and one thousand and seven hundred and thirty.
Tels sont les enfants d’Israël qui furent recensés: six cent un mille sept cent trente.
52 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
Yahweh parla à Moïse, en disant:
53 To these the land shall be divided, so that they may inherit according to the number of the names.
« A ceux-ci le pays sera partagé, pour être leur héritage, selon le nombre des noms.
54 To the greater number you shall give the greater inheritance, and to the less number you shall give the less inheritance: to each one, as they have been numbered, shall their inheritance be given.
Aux plus nombreux tu donneras un héritage plus grand, et aux moins nombreux tu donneras un héritage plus petit; on donnera à chacun son héritage selon ses recensés.
55 The land shall be divided to the names by lot, they shall inherit according to the tribes of their families.
Seulement le partage du pays aura lieu par le sort. Ils le recevront en partage selon les noms des tribus patriarcales.
56 You shall divide their inheritance by lot between the many and the few.
C’est par le sort que l’héritage sera réparti aux plus nombreux comme à ceux qui le sont moins. »
57 And the sons of Levi according to their families; to Gedson, the family of the Gedsonites; to Caath, the family of the Caathites; to Merari, the family of the Merarites.
Voici, selon leurs familles, les Lévites qui furent recensés: de Gerson, la famille des Gersonites; de Caath, la famille des Caathites; de Mérari, la famille des Mérarites. —
58 These [are] the families of the sons of Levi; the family of the Lobenites, the family of the Chebronites, the family of the Coreites, and the family of the Musites; and Caath begot Amram.
Voici les familles de Lévi; la famille des Lobnites, la famille des Hébronites, la famille des Moholites, la famille des Musites et la famille des Coréïtes. — Caath engendra Amram,
59 And the name of his wife [was] Jochabed, daughter of Levi, who bore these to Levi in Egypt, and she bore to Amram, Aaron and Moses, and Mariam their sister.
et le nom de la femme d’Amram était Jochabed, fille de Lévi, que sa mère enfanta à Lévi en Égypte; elle enfanta à Amram Aaron, Moïse et Marie, leur sœur.
60 And to Aaron were born both Nadab and Abiud, and Eleazar, and Ithamar.
Il naquit à Aaron: Nadab et Abiu, Eléazar et Ithamar.
61 And Nadab and Abiud died when they offered strange fire before the Lord in the wilderness of Sina.
Nadab et Abiu moururent lorsqu’ils apportèrent du feu étranger devant Yahweh. —
62 And there were according to their numbering, twenty-three thousand, every male from a month old and upward; for they were not numbered amongst the children of Israel, because they have no inheritance in the midst of the children of Israel.
Leurs recensés, tous les mâles depuis l’âge d’un mois et au-dessus, furent vingt-trois mille. Car ils ne furent pas compris dans le recensement des enfants d’Israël, parce qu’ils ne leur fut pas assigné d’héritage au milieu des enfants d’Israël.
63 And this [is] the numbering of Moses and Eleazar the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in Araboth of Moab, at Jordan by Jericho.
Tels sont les hommes recensés par Moïse et Eléazar, le prêtre, qui firent le recensement des enfants d’Israël dans les plaines de Moab, près du Jourdain, vis-à-vis de Jéricho.
64 And amongst these there was not a man numbered by Moses and Aaron, whom, [even] the children of Israel, they numbered in the wilderness of Sinai.
Parmi eux, il n’y avait aucun des enfants d’Israël dont Moïse et Aaron le prêtre avaient fait le recensement dans le désert de Sinaï;
65 For the Lord said to them, They shall surely die in the wilderness; and there was not left even one of them, except Chaleb the son of Jephonne, and Joshua the [son] of Naue.
car Yahweh avait dit d’eux: « Ils mourront dans le désert »; et il n’en resta pas un, excepté Caleb, fils de Jéphoné, et Josué, fils de Nun.
