Judges 5
1 And Debbora and Barac son of Abineem sang in that day, saying,
En ce jour-là, Débora et Barac, fils d’Abinoëm, chantèrent en disant:
2 A revelation was made in Israel when the people were made willing: Praise you the Lord.
Les chefs se sont mis à la tête en Israël; le peuple s’est volontairement offert pour le combat, bénissez-en Yahweh!
3 Hear, you kings, and listen, rulers: I will sing, it is I [who will sing] to the Lord, it is I, I will sing a psalm to the Lord the god of Israel.
Ecoutez, ô rois: princes, prêtez l’oreille. C’est moi, c’est moi qui chanterai Yahweh; je dirai un cantique à Yahweh, le Dieu d’Israël.
4 O Lord, in your going forth on Seir, when you went forth out of the land of Edom, the earth quaked and the heaven dropped dews, and the clouds dropped water.
Yahweh, quand tu sortis de Séïr, quand tu t’avanças des campagnes d’Edom, la terre trembla, les cieux mêmes se fondirent, et les nuées se fondirent en eau.
5 The mountains were shaken before the face of the Lord Eloi, this Sina before the face of the Lord God of Israel.
Devant Yahweh s’ébranlèrent les montagnes, ce Sinaï, devant Yahweh, le Dieu d’Israël.
6 In the days of Samegar son of Anath, in the days of Jael, they deserted the ways, and went in by-ways; they went in crooked paths.
Aux jours de Samgar, fils d’Anath, aux jours de Jahel, les routes étaient désertes, et les voyageurs prenaient des sentiers détournés.
7 The mighty men in Israel failed, they failed until Debbora arose, until she arose a mother in Israel.
Les campagnes étaient dans l’abandon en Israël, jusqu’à ce que je me sois levée, moi Débora, que je me sois levée, une mère en Israël.
8 They chose new gods; then the cities of rulers fought; there was not a shield or spear seen amongst forty thousand in Israel.
On choisissait des dieux nouveaux; alors la guerre était aux portes, et l’on ne voyait ni bouclier ni lance chez quarante milliers en Israël!
9 My heart [inclines] to the orders given in Israel; you that are willing amongst the people, bless the Lord.
Mon cœur s’élance vers les conducteurs d’Israël, vers ceux du peuple qui se sont offerts: Bénissez Yahweh!
10 You that mount a she-ass at noon-day, you that sit on the judgement-seat, and walk by the roads of them that sit in judgement by the way; declare
Vous qui montez de blanches ânesses, qui vous asseyez sur des tapis, et vous qui parcourez les chemins, chantez!
11 [you that are delivered] from the noise of disturbers amongst the drawers of water; there shall they relate righteous acts: O Lord, increase righteous acts in Israel: then the people of the Lord went down to the cities.
Que de leur voix les archers, près des abreuvoirs, célèbrent les justices de Yahweh, les justices envers ses campagnes en Israël! Alors le peuple de Yahweh est descendu dans ses portes.
12 Awake, awake, Debbora; awake, awake, utter a song: arise, Barac, and lead your captivity captive, son of Abineem.
Eveille-toi, éveille-toi, Débora! Eveille-toi, éveille-toi, dis au cantique! Lève-toi, Barac, et fais tes prisonniers, fils d’Abinoëm!
13 Then went down the remnant to the strong, the people of the Lord went down for him amongst the mighty ones from me.
En ce moment descends, reste des nobles du peuple! Yahweh, descends vers moi parmi ces héros!
14 Ephraim rooted them out in Amalec, behind you was Benjamin amongst your people: the inhabitants of Machir came down with me searching out the enemy, and from Zabulon came they that draw with the scribe's pen of record.
D’Ephraïm sont venus ceux qui ont leur racine en Amalec; derrière toi, Benjamin s’est joint à tes troupes; de Machir, des chefs sont descendus; de Zabulon des conducteurs, avec le bâton du scribe.
15 And princess in Issachar were with Debbora and Barac, thus she sent Barac on his feet in the valleys into the portions of Ruben; great [pangs] reached to the heart.
Les princes d’Issachar sont avec Débora, Issachar est à côté de Barac; dans la plaine il est envoyé sur ses pas. Près des ruisseaux de Ruben, il y eut de grandes résolutions du cœur:
16 Why did they sit between the sheepfolds to hear the bleating of flocks for the divisions of Ruben? [there were] great searchings of heart.
Pourquoi es-tu resté au milieu de tes pâturages, à écouter le chalumeau de tes pâtres? Près des ruisseaux de Ruben, il y eut de grandes résolutions du cœur!
17 Galaad [is] on the other side of Jordan where he pitched his tents; and why does Dan remain in ships? Aser sat down on the sea-coasts, and he will tabernacle at his ports.
Galaad n’a pas quitté sa demeure, au delà du Jourdain; et Dan, pourquoi s’est-il tenu dans ses vaisseaux? Aser est resté tranquille sur le rivage de la mer, et il est demeuré dans ses ports.
18 The people Zabulon exposed their soul to death, and Nephthali came to the high places of their land.
Mais Zabulon est un peuple qui expose son âme à la mort, ainsi que Nephtali, sur ses hauts plateaux.
19 Kings set themselves in array, then the kings of Chanaan fought in Thanaach at the water of Mageddo; they took no gift of money.
Les rois sont venus, ils ont livré bataille; alors ils ont livré bataille, les rois de Canaan, à Thanac, au bord des eaux de Mageddo; ils n’ont pas remporté un seul lingot d’argent.
20 The stars from heaven set themselves in array, they set themselves [to fight] with Sisara out of their paths.
Du ciel on a combattu pour nous, de leurs sentiers les étoiles ont combattu contre Sisara.
21 The brook of Kison swept them away, the ancient brook, the brook Kison: my mighty soul will trample him down.
Le torrent de Cison a roulé leurs cadavres. le torrent des anciens temps, le torrent de Cison. — O mon âme, avance hardiment! —
22 When the hoofs of the horse were entangled, his mighty ones earnestly hasted
Alors retentirent les sabots des chevaux, dans la course, la course rapide de leurs guerriers.
23 to curse Meroz: Curse you [it], said the angel of the Lord; cursed [is] every one that dwells in it, because they came not to the help of the Lord, to his help amongst the mighty.
Maudissez Méroz, dit l’ange de Yahweh, maudissez, maudissez ses habitants! Car ils ne sont pas venus au secours de Yahweh, au secours de Yahweh, avec les vaillants.
24 Blessed amongst women be Jael wife of Chaber the Kenite; let her be blessed above women in tents.
Bénie soit entre les femmes Jahel, femme de Héber, le Cinéen; entre les troupes qui habitent sous la tente bénie soit-elle!
25 He asked for water, she gave him milk in a dish; she brought butter of princes.
Il demanda de l’eau, elle donna du lait; dans la coupe d’honneur, elle offrit le lait le plus pur.
26 She stretched forth her left hand to the nail, and her right to the hand workman's hammer, and she struck Sisara with it, she nailed through his head and struck him; she nailed through his temples.
D’une main elle saisit le pieu, et de sa droite, le marteau de l’ouvrier. Elle frappe Sisara, elle lui brise la tête, elle fracasse et transperce sa tempe;
27 He rolled down between her feet; he fell and lay between her feet; he bowed and fell: where he bowed, there he fell dead.
à ses pieds, il s’affaisse, il tombe, il est étendu; à ses pieds il s’affaisse, il tombe: là où il s’affaisse, là il gît inanimé.
28 The mother of Sisara looked down through the window out of the loophole, [saying], Why was his chariot ashamed? why did the wheels of his chariots wait?
Par la fenêtre, à travers le treillis, elle regarde, la mère de Sisara, et pousse des cris: « Pourquoi son char tarde-t-il à venir? Pourquoi est-elle si lente la marche de ses chariots? »
29 Her wise ladies answered her, and she returned answers to herself, [saying],
Les plus avisées de ses dames lui répondent, et elle se répète à elle-même leurs paroles:
30 Will they not find him dividing the spoil? he will surely be gracious to every man: [there are] spoils of dyed garments for Sisara, spoils of various dyed garments, dyed embroidered garments, they [are] the spoils for his neck.
« N’ont-ils pas trouvé, ne se partagent-ils pas le butin? Une jeune fille, deux jeunes filles pour chaque guerrier; des vêtements de couleur pour butin à Sisara, des vêtements de couleur variée pour butin; un vêtement de couleur, deux vêtements de couleur variée, pour les épaules de l’épouse! »
31 Thus let all your enemies perish, O Lord: and they that love him shall be as the going forth of the sun in his strength. And the land had rest forty years.
Qu’ainsi périssent tous tes ennemis, ô Yahweh! Et que ceux qui l’aiment soient comme le soleil, quand il se lève dans sa force! Le pays fut en repos pendant quarante ans.
