Joshua 3
1 And Joshua rose up early in the morning, and departed from Sattin; and they came as far as Jordan, and lodged there before they crossed over.
૧અને યહોશુઆ વહેલી સવારે ઊઠયો, તે અને ઇઝરાયલના સર્વ લોકો શિટ્ટીમમાંથી નીકળી યર્દન આવ્યા, નદી ઓળંગતાં પહેલાં તેઓએ ત્યાં છાવણી કરી.
2 And it came to pass after three days, [that] the scribes went through the camp;
૨અને ત્રણ દિવસ પછી, એમ થયું કે આગેવાનો છાવણીમાં ફર્યા;
3 and they charged the people, saying, When you shall see the ark of the covenant of the Lord our God, and our priests and the Levites bearing it, you shall depart from your places, and you shall go after it.
૩તેઓએ લોકોને આજ્ઞા કરી, “જયારે તમે તમારા યહોવાહ પ્રભુના કરારકોશને તથા તેને ઊંચકનાર લેવી યાજકોને જુઓ, ત્યારે તમે તે સ્થળ છોડીને તેની પાછળ જજો.
4 But let there be a distance between you and it; you shall stand as much as two thousand cubits [from it]. Do not draw near to it, that you may know the way which you are to go; for you have not gone the way before.
૪તમારી અને તેની વચ્ચે લગભગ બે હજાર હાથનું અંતર રહે; તેની નજીક જશો નહિ, જેથી જે માર્ગે તમારે જવું જોઈએ તે તમે જાણશો, કારણ કે આ માર્ગે અગાઉ તમે ગયા નથી.”
5 And Joshua said to the people, Sanctify yourselves against to-morrow, for to-morrow the Lord will do wonders amongst you.
૫અને યહોશુઆએ લોકોને કહ્યું, “તમે પોતાને પવિત્ર કરો, કેમ કે કાલે યહોવાહ તમારી મધ્યે આશ્ચર્યકારક કૃત્યો કરશે.”
6 And Joshua said to the priests, Take up the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and go before the people: and the priests took up the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and went before the people.
૬ત્યાર પછી યહોશુઆએ યાજકોને કહ્યું, “કરારકોશ ઊંચકીને લોકોની આગળ જાઓ.” તેથી તેઓ કરારકોશ ઊંચકીને લોકોની આગળ ગયા.
7 And the Lord said to Joshua, This day do I begin to exalt you before all the children of Israel, that they may know that as I was with Moses, so will I also be with you.
૭અને યહોવાહે યહોશુઆને કહ્યું, “આજ હું તને ઇઝરાયલની નજરમાં મોટો માણસ બનાવીશ. એ સારુ કે તેઓ જાણે કે જેમ હું મૂસા સાથે હતો તેમ તારી સાથે પણ હોઈશ.
8 And now charge the priests that bear the ark of the covenant, saying, As soon as you shall enter on a part of the water of Jordan, then you shall stand in Jordan.
૮જે યાજકોએ કરારકોશ ઊંચક્યો છે તેઓને આજ્ઞા કર, કે યર્દનને કિનારે આવો ત્યારે યર્દનનદીમાં જ ઊભા રહેજો.”
9 And Joshua said to the children of Israel, Come hither, and listen to the word of the Lord our God.
૯અને યહોશુઆએ ઇઝરાયલનાં લોકોને કહ્યું, “અહીં આવો અને પ્રભુ તમારા યહોવાહનાં વચન સાંભળો.”
10 Hereby you shall know that the living God [is] amongst you, and will utterly destroy from before our face the Chananite, and the Chettite and Pherezite, and the Evite, and the Amorite, and the Gergesite, and the Jebusite.
૧૦અને યહોશુઆએ કહ્યું, “આનાથી તમે જાણશો કે જીવતા ઈશ્વર તમારી મધ્યે છે, તે કનાનીઓને, હિત્તીઓને, હિવ્વીઓને, પરિઝીઓને, ગિર્ગાશીઓને, અમોરીઓને તથા યબૂસીઓને નિશ્ચે તમારી આગળથી દૂર કરશે.
11 Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth passes over Jordan.
૧૧જુઓ! આખી પૃથ્વીના પ્રભુનો કરારકોશ તમારી આગળ યર્દન ઊતરે છે.
12 Choose for yourselves twelve men of the sons of Israel, one of each tribe.
૧૨હવે તમે ઇઝરાયલના દરેક કુળમાંથી એક પ્રમાણે બાર માણસ પસંદ કરો.
13 And it shall come to pass, when the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the covenant of the Lord of the whole earth rest in the water of Jordan, the water of Jordan [below] shall fail, and the water coming down from above shall stop.
૧૩જયારે આખી પૃથ્વીના પ્રભુ, યહોવાહનો કરારકોશ ઊંચકનારા યાજકોના પગ યર્દનનાં પાણીમાં મુકાશે ત્યારે યર્દનનું પાણી ઉપરથી નીચે તરફ વહે છે તેના ભાગ પડી જશે અને તે ઢગલો થઈને સ્થિર થઈ જશે.”
14 And the people removed from their tents to cross over Jordan, and the priests bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord before the people.
૧૪તેથી જયારે લોકો યર્દન પાર કરવાને નીકળ્યા ત્યારે કરારકોશને ઊંચકનારા યાજકો લોકોની આગળ ચાલતા હતા.
15 And when the priests that bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord entered upon Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord were dipped in part of the water of Jordan; (now Jordan overflowed all its banks about the time of wheat harvest: )
૧૫કરાર કોશને ઊંચકનારા યાજકો જયારે યર્દન પાસે આવ્યા અને તેઓના પગ પાણીમાં પડ્યા યર્દન કાપણીની પૂરી ઋતુ દરમિયાન તેના બન્ને કિનારે છલકાતી હતી
16 then the waters that came down from above stopped; there stood one solid heap very far off, as far as the region of Kariathiarim, and the lower part came down to the sea of Araba, the salt sea, till it completely failed; and the people stood opposite Jericho.
૧૬ત્યારે ઉપલી તરફથી વહેનાર પાણી ઠરી ગયું અને ઘણે દૂર સુધી, એટલે સારેથાન પાસેના આદમ નગર સુધી, ઢગલો થઈ ગયું. અને અરાબાના સમુદ્ર એટલે ખારા સમુદ્રની તરફ જે વહેતું હતું તે વહી ગયું અને લોક યરીખોની સામે પેલે પાર ઊતર્યા.
17 And the priests that bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood on dry land in the midst of Jordan; and all the children of Israel went through on dry land, until all the people had completely gone over Jordan.
૧૭ઇઝરાયલના સઘળાં લોકો કોરી જમીન પર ચાલીને પાર ઊતર્યા ત્યાં સુધી યહોવાહનો કરારકોશ ઊંચકનારા યાજકો યર્દનની મધ્યમાં કોરી જમીન પર ઊભા રહ્યા.
