Jeremias 24

1 The Lord showed me two baskets of figs, lying in front of the temple of the Lord, after Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon had carried captive Jechonias son of Joakim king of Juda, and the princes, and the artificers, and the prisoners, and the rich men out of Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.

Siehe, der HERR zeigte mir zween Feigenkörbe, gestellt vor den Tempel des HERRN, nachdem der König zu Babel, Nebukadnezar, hatte weggeführt Jechanja, den Sohn Jojakims, den König Judas, samt den Fürsten Judas, Zimmerleute und Schmiede von Jerusalem, und gen Babel gebracht.

2 The one basket was [full] of very good figs, as the early figs; and the other basket was [full] of very bad figs, which could not be eaten, for their badness.

In dem einen Korbe waren sehr gute Feigen, wie die ersten reifen Feigen sind; im andern Korbe waren sehr böse Feigen, daß man sie nicht essen konnte, so böse waren sie.

3 And the Lord said to me, What see you, Jeremias? and I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the bad, very bad, which can’t be eaten, for their badness.

Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Jeremia, was siehest du? Ich sprach: Feigen; die guten Feigen sind sehr gut und die bösen sind sehr böse, daß man sie nicht essen kann, so böse sind sie.

4 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

Da geschah des HERRN Wort zu mir und sprach:

5 Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel; As these good figs, so will I acknowledge the Jews that have been carried away captive, whom I have sent forth out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for good.

So spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels: Gleichwie diese Feigen gut sind, also will ich mich gnädiglich annehmen der Gefangenen aus Juda, welche ich habe aus dieser Stätte lassen ziehen in der Chaldäer Land,

6 And I will fix mine eyes upon them for good, and I will restore them into this land for good: and I will build them up, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up.

und will sie gnädiglich ansehen und will sie wieder in dies Land bringen und will sie bauen und nicht abbrechen, ich will sie pflanzen und nicht ausraufen.

7 And I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord: and they shall be to me a people, and I will be to them a God: for they shall turn to me with all their heart.

Und will ihnen ein Herz geben, daß sie mich kennen sollen, daß ich der HERR sei. Und sie sollen mein Volk sein, so will ich ihr Gott sein; denn sie werden sich von ganzem Herzen zu mir bekehren.

8 And as the bad figs, which can’t be eaten, for their badness; thus says the Lord, So will I deliver Sedekias king of Juda, and his nobles, and the remnant of Jerusalem, them that are left in this land, and the dwellers in Egypt.

Aber wie die bösen Feigen so böse sind, daß man sie nicht essen kann, spricht der HERR, also will ich dahingeben Zedekia, den König Judas, samt seinen Fürsten, und was übrig ist zu Jerusalem und übrig in diesem Lande, und die in Ägyptenland wohnen.

9 And I will cause them to be dispersed into all the kingdoms of the earth, and they shall be for a reproach, and a proverb, and an [object of] hatred, and a curse, in every place whither I have driven them out.

Ich will ihnen Unglück zufügen und sie in keinem Königreich auf Erden bleiben lassen, daß sie sollen zuschanden werden, zum Sprichwort, zur Fabel und zum Fluch an allen Orten, dahin ich sie verstoßen werde.

10 And I will send against them famine, and pestilence, and the sword, until they are consumed from off the land which I gave them.

Und will Schwert, Hunger und Pestilenz unter sie schicken, bis sie umkommen von dem Lande, das ich ihnen und ihren Vätern gegeben habe.
