Jeremias 16
1 And you shall not take a wife, says the Lord God of Israel:
૧યહોવાહનું વચન આ મુજબ મારી પાસે આવ્યું અને કહ્યું કે,
2 and there shall be no son born to you, nor daughter in this place.
૨“તું પરણીશ નહિ અને આ જગ્યાએ તને દીકરા કે દીકરીઓ થાય નહિ.”
3 For thus says the Lord concerning the sons and concerning the daughters that are born in this place, and concerning their mothers that have born them, and concerning their fathers that have begotten them in this land;
૩કેમ કે આ જગ્યાએ જન્મેલા દીકરા દીકરીઓ વિષે અને તેઓને જન્મ આપનાર માતાપિતા વિષે યહોવાહ કહે છે કે,
4 They shall die of grievous death; they shall not be lamented, nor buried; they shall be for an example on the face of the earth; and they shall be for the wild beasts of the land, and for the birds of the sky: they shall fall by the sword, and shall be consumed with famine.
૪“તેઓ ભયંકર રોગોને લીધે મૃત્યુ પામશે, તેઓને માટે શોક થશે નહિ કે તેઓને દફનાવશે નહિ. તેઓના મૃતદેહો પૃથ્વીના પૃષ્ઠ પર ખાતરરૂપ થશે. તેઓ તલવાર કે દુકાળમાં નાશ પામશે અને તેઓના મૃતદેહોને આકાશના પક્ષીઓ અને ભૂમિનાં જંગલી પશુઓ ખાઈ જશે.”
5 Thus says the Lord, Enter not into their mourning feast, and go not to lament, and mourn not for them: for I have removed my peace from this people.
૫કેમ કે યહોવાહ કહે છે કે, શોકના ઘરમાં જઈશ નહિ. તેઓને લીધે રડારોળ કરવા જઈશ નહિ કે તેઓના માટે વિલાપ કરીશ નહિ કેમ કે મેં આ લોક પરથી મારી શાંતિ, એટલે કરુણા તથા દયા લઈ લીધી છે.” એમ યહોવાહ કહે છે.
6 They shall not bewail them, nor make cuttings for them, and they shall not shave themselves [for them]:
૬“તેથી મોટા તથા નાના બન્ને આ દેશમાં મૃત્યુ પામશે. તેઓને દફનાવવામાં આવશે નહિ. તેઓને લીધે કોઈ શોક કરશે નહિ, કોઈ પોતાના શરીર પર ઘા કરશે નહિ અને કોઈ પોતાનું માથું મુંડાવશે નહિ.
7 and there shall be no bread broken in mourning for them for consolation over the dead: they shall not give one to drink a cup for consolation over his father or his mother.
૭વળી લોકો મૂએલા સંબંધી સાંત્વના આપવા સારુ તેઓને માટે શોક કરી રોટલી ભાગશે નહિ. અને લોકો માતાપિતાના મરણને માટે દિલાસાનો પ્યાલો તેઓને પીવાને આપશે નહિ.
8 You shall not enter into the banquet-house, to sit with them to eat and to drink.
૮ખાવાપીવાને અર્થે જમણવારના ઘરમાં તું તેઓની સાથે બેસી જઈશ નહિ.
9 For thus says the Lord God of Israel; Behold, I [will] make to cease out of this place before your eyes, and in your days, the voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride.
૯કેમ કે સૈન્યોના યહોવાહ ઇઝરાયલના ઈશ્વર આ પ્રમાણે કહે છે કે; જુઓ, હું અહીં તમારી નજર સમક્ષ તથા તમારી હયાતીમાં આનંદ તથા હાસ્યનો સાદ, તેમ જ વર-કન્યાનો સાદ બંધ પાડીશ.
10 And it shall come to pass, when you shall report to this people all these words, and they shall say to you, Therefore has the Lord pronounced against us all these evils? what is our unrighteousness? and what is our sin which we have sinned before the Lord our God?
૧૦“જ્યારે તું આ લોકોની આગળ આ બધું કહેશે ત્યારે એ લોકો તને પૂછશે કે, ‘યહોવાહે આ બધી આફતો આપણે માથે શા માટે નાખી છે? આપણો શો અપરાધ છે? અને આપણે શો ગુનો કર્યો છે કે યહોવાહ અમારા ઈશ્વરની વિરુદ્ધ અમે કયું પાપ કર્યું છે?’
11 Then you shall say to them, Because your fathers forsook me, says the Lord, and went after strange gods and served them, and worshipped them, and forsook me, and kept not my law;
૧૧ત્યારે તું કહે જે કે, યહોવાહ કહે છે કે વિપત્તિ આવવાનું કારણ એ છે કે, ‘તમારા પિતૃઓએ મારો ત્યાગ કર્યો’ ‘અને અન્ય દેવોની પાછળ ગયા છે. અને તેમની સેવાપૂજા કરી તેમણે મારો ત્યાગ કર્યો અને મારા નિયમશાસ્ત્રનું પાલન કર્યુ નહોતું.
12 (and you sinned worse than your fathers; for, behold, you walk every one after the lusts of your own evil heart, so as not to listen to me);
૧૨અને તમે તમારાં પિતૃઓનાં કરતાં પણ વધારે દુષ્ટતા કરી છે. માટે જુઓ, તમે દરેક તમારા હૃદયના દુરાગ્રહ મુજબ ચાલો છો; અને મારી આજ્ઞા પાળતા નથી.
13 therefore I will cast you off from this good land into a land which neither you nor your fathers have known; and you shall serve their other gods, who shall have no mercy upon you.
૧૩આથી હું તમને આ દેશમાંથી કાઢીને તમને અને તમારા પિતૃઓને અજાણ્યા દેશમાં હાંકી કાઢીશ, ત્યાં તમે રાતદિવસ અન્ય દેવોની સેવા કરજો. હું તમારા પર દયા રાખીશ નહિ.
14 Therefore, behold, the days come, says the Lord, when they shall no more say, The Lord lives, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;
૧૪માટે જુઓ! યહોવાહ કહે છે કે, હવે એવો સમય આવે છે કે” “જ્યારે ઇઝરાયલપુત્રોને મિસર દેશમાંથી બહાર લાવનાર ‘યહોવાહ જીવતા છે, એમ ક્યારેય કહેવાશે નહિ.’
15 but, The Lord lives, who brought up the house of Israel from the land of the north, and from all countries whither they were thrust out: and I will restore them to their own land, which I gave to their fathers.
૧૫માટે જે ઇઝરાયલપુત્રોને ઉત્તરના દેશમાંથી તથા જે કોઈ દેશમાંથી તેઓને નસાડી મૂક્યા હતા તે બધા દેશોમાંથી પાછા લાવનાર યહોવાહ જીવતા છે એમ કહેવાશે. અને જે દેશ મેં તેઓના પૂર્વજોને આપ્યો હતો તેમાં હું તેઓને પાછા લાવીશ.
16 Behold, I [will] send many fishers, says the Lord, and they shall fish them; and afterward I will send many hunters, and they shall hunt them upon every mountain, and upon every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.
૧૬જુઓ! હું ઘણા માછીમારોને મોકલીશ” તેમ યહોવાહ કહે છે. “તેઓ લોકોને જાળમાં પકડી પાડશે. ત્યાર પછી હું ઘણા શિકારીઓને મોકલીશ અને તેઓ તેઓને દરેક પર્વત પરથી, ડુંગર પરથી અને ખડકોની ગુફામાંથી શોધી કાઢીને તેમનો શિકાર કરશે.
17 For mine eyes are upon all their ways; and their iniquities have not been hidden from mine eyes.
૧૭કેમ કે તેઓના સર્વ માર્ગો ઉપર મારી નજર છે. તેઓ મારાથી છુપાયેલા નથી. અને તેઓનો અન્યાય મારાથી ગુપ્ત નથી.
18 And I will recompense their mischiefs doubly, and their sins, whereby they have profaned my land with the carcases of their abominations, and with their iniquities, whereby they have trespassed against mine inheritance.
૧૮પ્રથમ હું તેઓની પાસે તેઓનાં પાપોનો અને ધિક્કારપાત્ર કૃત્યોનો બમણો બદલો લઈશ, કેમ કે તેઓએ મારા વારસાને અશુદ્ધ મૃતદેહોથી અભડાવી છે.
19 O Lord, you are my strength, and mine help, and my refuge in days of evil: to you the Gentiles shall come from the end of the earth, and shall say, How vain [were the] idols [which] our fathers procured to themselves, and there is no help in them.
૧૯હે યહોવાહ, સંકટના સમયમાં મારું સામર્થ્ય તથા મારા ગઢ, તથા મારા આશ્રય સમગ્ર જગતમાંથી પ્રજાઓ તમારી પાસે આવી અને કહેશે કે, અસત્ય, વ્યર્થ; અને નિરુપયોગી વસ્તુઓ એ જ અમારા પિતૃઓનો વારસો છે.
20 Will a man make gods for himself, whereas these are no gods?
૨૦માણસ જે દેવો નથી એવા દેવો પોતાને સારુ બનાવી શકશે શું?
21 Therefore, behold, I will at this time manifest my hand to them, and will make known to them my power; and they shall know that my name is the Lord.
૨૧માટે જુઓ, હું તેઓને જણાવીશ તેઓને હું મારું સામર્થ્ય અને મારો હાથ દેખાડીશ, ત્યારે તેઓ જાણશે કે મારું નામ યહોવાહ છે.
