Esias 20
1 In the year when Tanathan came to Azotus, when he was sent by Arna king of the Assyrians, and warred against Azotus, and took it;
In dem Jahre, da der Tartan [Assyrischer Amtsname des Oberfeldherrn] nach Asdod kam, als Sargon, der König von Assyrien, ihn gesandt hatte, und er wider Asdod stritt und es einnahm:
2 then the Lord spoke to Esaias the son of Amos, saying, Go and take the sackcloth off your loins, and loose your sandals from off your feet, and do thus, going naked and barefoot.
in dieser Zeit redete Jehova durch Jesaja, den Sohn Amoz, und sprach: Geh und löse das Sacktuch von deinen Lenden und ziehe deine Sandalen von deinen Füßen. Und er tat also, ging nackt [d. h. ohne Oberkleid] und barfuß.
3 And the Lord said, As my servant Esaias has walked naked and barefoot three years, there shall be three years for signs and wonders to the Egyptians and Ethiopians;
Und Jehova sprach: Gleichwie mein Knecht Jesaja nackt und barfuß gegangen ist, drei Jahre lang ein Zeichen und Vorbild betreffs Ägyptens und betreffs Äthiopiens:
4 for thus shall the king of the Assyrians lead the captivity of Egypt and the Ethiopians, young men and old, naked and barefoot, having the shame of Egypt exposed.
also wird der König von Assyrien die Gefangenen Ägyptens und die Weggeführten Äthiopiens hinwegtreiben, Jünglinge und Greise, nackt und barfuß und mit entblößtem Gesäß, zur Schande Ägyptens.
5 And the Egyptians being defeated shall be ashamed of the Ethiopians, in whom they had trusted; for they were their glory.
Und sie werden bestürzt und beschämt sein wegen Äthiopiens, ihrer Zuversicht, und wegen Ägyptens, ihres Ruhmes.
6 And they that dwell in this island shall say in that day, Behold, we trusted to flee to them for help, who could not save themselves from the king of the Assyrians: and how shall we be saved?
Und die Bewohner dieses Küstenlandes [d. i. Palästinas] werden an jenem Tage sprechen: Siehe, also ist es mit unserer Zuversicht, wohin wir um Hülfe flohen, um vor dem Könige von Assyrien errettet zu werden! und wie sollten wir entrinnen?
