Aggaeus 1
1 In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first [day] of the month, the word of the Lord came by the hand of the prophet Aggaeus, saying, Speak to Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, of the tribe of Juda, and to Jesus the son of Josedec, the high priest, saying,
La deuxième année du roi Darius, au sixième mois, le premier jour du mois, la parole de Yahweh fut adressée, par l’intermédiaire d’Aggée, le prophète, à Zorobabel, fils de Salathiel, gouverneur de Juda, et à Jésus, fils de Josédec, le grand prêtre, en ces termes:
2 Thus says the Lord Almighty, saying, This people say, The time is not come to build the house of the Lord.
Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Ce peuple dit: « Le temps n’est pas venu, le temps pour la maison de Yahweh d’être rebâtie. »
3 And the word of the Lord came by the hand of the prophet Aggaeus, saying,
Et la parole de Yahweh se fit entendre par l’intermédiaire d’Aggée, le prophète, en ces termes:
4 Is it time for you to dwell in your ceiled houses, whereas our house is desolate?
Est-il temps pour vous autres d’habiter vos maisons lambrissées, quand cette maison-là est en ruines?
5 And now thus says the Lord Almighty; Consider your ways, I pray you.
Et maintenant ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Considérez attentivement vos voies.
6 You have sown much, but brought in little; you have eaten, and are not satisfied; you have drunk, and are not satisfied with drink, you have clothed yourselves, and have not become warm thereby: and he that earns wages has gathered [them] into a bag full of holes.
Vous avez semé beaucoup et recueilli peu; vous mangez, mais non jusqu’à être rassasiés; vous buvez, mais non jusqu’à votre soûl; vous êtes vêtus, mais non jusqu’à être réchauffés; et le salarié gagne son salaire pour une bourse trouée.
7 Thus says the Lord Almighty; Consider your ways.
Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Considérez attentivement vos voies.
8 Go up to the mountain, and cut timber; build the house, and I will take pleasure in it, and be glorified, says the Lord.
Allez à la montagne, apportez du bois, et bâtissez la maison; j’en aurai plaisir et gloire, dit Yahweh.
9 You looked for much, and there came little; and it was brought into the house, and I blew it away. Therefore thus says the Lord Almighty, Because my house is desolate, and you run everyone into his own house;
Vous comptiez sur beaucoup, et voici que cela se réduit à peu; vous aviez rentré vos récoltes, et j’ai soufflé dessus. A cause de quoi — oracle de Yahweh des armées? A cause de ma maison qui est en ruines, tandis que vous vous empressez chacun pour votre maison.
10 therefore shall the sky withhold dew, and the earth shall keep back her produce.
C’est pourquoi les cieux vous ont retenu la rosée, et la terre a retenu ses fruits.
11 And I will bring a sword upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the wine, and upon the oil, and all that the earth produces, and upon the men, and upon the cattle, and upon all the labours of their hands.
J’ai appelé la sécheresse sur la terre et sur les montagnes, sur le blé, sur le vin nouveau, sur l’huile, et sur ce que peut produire le sol, et sur l’homme et sur les bêtes; et sur tout le travail des mains.
12 And Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, of the tribe of Juda, and Jesus the son of Josedec, the high priest, and all the remnant of the people, listened to the voice of the Lord their God, and the words of the prophet Aggaeus, according as the Lord their God had sent him to them, and the people feared before the Lord.
Alors Zorobabel, fils de Salathiel, et Jésus, fils de Josédec, le grand prêtre, et tout le reste du peuple, écoutèrent la voix de Yahweh, leur Dieu, et les paroles d’Aggée, le prophète, selon la mission qu’il avait reçue de Yahweh, leur Dieu; et le peuple craignit devant Yahweh.
13 And Aggaeus the Lord's messenger spoke amongst the messengers of the Lord to the people, [saying], I am with you, says the Lord.
Et Aggée, envoyé de Yahweh, sur l’ordre de Yahweh, parla au peuple en ces termes: « Je suis avec vous, — oracle de Yahweh. »
14 And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, of the tribe of Juda, and the spirit of Jesus the son of Josedec, the high priest, and the spirit of the remnant of all the people; and they went in, and wrought in the house of the Lord Almighty their God,
Et Yahweh réveilla l’esprit de Zorobabel, fils de Salathiel, gouverneur de Juda, l’esprit de Jésus, fils de Josédec, le grand prêtre, et l’esprit de tout le reste du peuple; et ils vinrent et travaillèrent à la maison de Yahweh des armées, leur Dieu,
15 on the four and twentieth [day] of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.
le vingt-quatrième jour du sixième mois, la deuxième année du roi Darius.
