Genesis 2
1 And the heavens and the earth were finished, and the whole world of them.
E foram concluídos os céus e a terra, e tudo o que neles há.
2 And God finished on the sixth day his works which he made, and he ceased on the seventh day from all his works which he made.
E acabou Deus no dia sétimo sua obra que fez, e repousou o dia sétimo de toda sua obra que havia feito.
3 And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it he ceased from all his works which God began to do.
E abençoou Deus ao dia sétimo, e o santificou, porque nele repousou de toda sua obra que havia Deus criado e feito.
4 This [is] the book of the generation of heaven and earth, when they were made, in the day in which the Lord God made the heaven and the earth,
Estas são as origens dos céus e da terra quando foram criados, no dia que o SENHOR Deus fez a terra e os céus,
5 and every herb of the field before it was on the earth, and all the grass of the field before it sprang up, for God had not rained on the earth, and there was not a man to cultivate it.
E antes que toda planta do campo existisse na terra, e antes que toda erva do campo nascesse; porque ainda não havia o SENHOR Deus feito chover sobre a terra, nem havia homem para que lavrasse a terra;
6 But there rose a fountain out of the earth, and watered the whole face of the earth.
Mas subia da terra um vapor, que regava toda a face da terra.
7 And God formed the man [of] dust of the earth, and breathed upon his face the breath of life, and the man became a living soul.
Formou, pois, o SENHOR Deus ao homem do pó da terra, e assoprou em seu nariz sopro de vida; e foi o homem em alma vivente.
8 And God planted a garden eastward in Edem, and placed there the man whom he had formed.
E havia o SENHOR Deus plantado um jardim em Éden ao oriente, e pôs ali ao homem que havia formado.
9 And God made to spring up also out of the earth every tree beautiful to the eye and good for food, and the tree of life in the midst of the garden, and the tree of learning the knowledge of good and evil.
E havia o SENHOR Deus feito nascer da terra toda árvore agradável à vista, e boa para comer: também a árvore da vida em meio do jardim, e a árvore do conhecimento do bem e do mal.
10 And a river proceeds out of Edem to water the garden, thence it divides itself into four heads.
E saía de Éden um rio para regar o jardim, e dali se repartia em quatro ramificações.
11 The name of the one, Phisom, this it is which encircles the whole land of Evilat, where there is gold.
O nome de um era Pisom: este é o que cerca toda a terra de Havilá, onde há ouro:
12 And the gold of that land is good, there also is carbuncle and emerald.
E o ouro daquela terra é bom; há ali também bdélio e pedra ônix.
13 And the name of the second river is Geon, this it is which encircles the whole land of Ethiopia.
O nome do segundo rio é Giom; este é o que rodeia toda a terra de Cuxe.
14 And the third river is Tigris, this is that which flows forth over against the Assyrians. And the fourth river is Euphrates.
E o nome do terceiro rio é Tigre; este é o que vai diante da Assíria. E o quarto rio é o Eufrates.
15 And the Lord God took the man whom he had formed, and placed him in the garden of Delight, to cultivate and keep it.
Então o SENHOR Deus tomou o homem, e o pôs no jardim de Éden, para que o lavrasse e o guardasse.
16 And the Lord God gave a charge to Adam, saying, Of every tree which is in the garden you may freely eat,
E mandou o SENHOR Deus ao homem, dizendo: De toda árvore do jardim comerás;
17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil—of it you shall not eat, but in whatever day you eat of it, you shall surely die.
Mas da árvore do conhecimento do bem e do mal não comerás dela; porque no dia que dela comeres, morrerás.
18 And the Lord God said, [It is] not good that the man should be alone, let us make for him a help suitable to him.
E disse o SENHOR Deus: Não é bom que o homem esteja só; farei para ele ajuda idônea para ele.
19 And God formed yet farther out of the earth all the wild beasts of the field, and all the birds of the sky, and he brought them to Adam, to see what he would call them, and whatever Adam called any living creature, that was the name of it.
Formou, pois, o SENHOR Deus da terra todo animal do campo, e toda ave dos céus, e trouxe-os a Adão, para que visse como lhes havia de chamar; e tudo o que Adão chamou aos animais viventes, esse é seu nome.
20 And Adam gave names to all the cattle and to all the birds of the sky, and to all the wild beasts of the field, but for Adam there was not found a help like to himself.
E pôs Adão nomes a todo animal e ave dos céus e a todo animal do campo: mas para Adão não achou ajuda que estivesse idônea para ele.
21 And God brought a trance upon Adam, and he slept, and he took one of his ribs, and filled up the flesh instead thereof.
E o SENHOR Deus fez cair sonho sobre Adão, e ele adormeceu: então tomou uma de suas costelas, e fechou a carne em seu lugar;
22 And God formed the rib which he took from Adam into a woman, and brought her to Adam.
E da costela que o SENHOR Deus tomou do homem, fez uma mulher, e trouxe-a ao homem.
23 And Adam said, This now is bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of her husband.
E disse Adão: Esta é agora osso de meus ossos, e carne de minha carne: esta será chamada Mulher, porque do homem foi tomada.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave to his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
Portanto, deixará o homem a seu pai e a sua mãe, e se achegará à sua mulher, e serão uma só carne.
E estavam ambos nus, Adão e sua mulher, e não se envergonhavam.
