Jezekiel 9

1 And he cried in mine ears with a loud voice, saying, The judgement of the city has drawn near; and each had the weapons of destruction in his hand.

૧પછી તેણે મોટા અવાજે મારા કાનમાં કહ્યું, “નગરના ચોકીદારો પોતપોતાનું વિનાશક શસ્ત્ર પોતાના હાથમાં લઈને પાસે આવો.

2 And, behold, six men came from the way of the high gate that looks towards the north, and each one's axe was in his hand; and there was one man in the midst of them clothed with a long robe down to the feet, and a sapphire girdle was on his loins: and they came in and stood near the brazen altar.

૨પછી જુઓ, છ માણસો પોતાના હાથમાં પોતપોતાનું સંહારક શસ્ત્ર લઈને ઉત્તર તરફ આવેલા ઉપરના દરવાજાથી આવ્યા. તેઓની મધ્યે શણનાં વસ્ત્ર પહેરેલો એક માણસ હતો. તેની કમર પર લહિયાનો શાહીનો ખડિયો લટકાવેલો હતો. તે બધા અંદર જઈને પિત્તળની વેદી આગળ આવીને ઊભા રહ્યા.

3 And the glory of the God of Israel, that was upon them, went up from the cherubs to the porch of the house. And he called the man that was clothed with the long robe, who had the girdle on his loins;

૩ત્યારે ઇઝરાયલના ઈશ્વરનો મહિમા કરુબો ઉપરથી ઊઠીને મંદિરના પ્રવેશદ્વાર પાસે ગયો. અને તેમણે કમરે લહિયાના ખડિયો લટકાવેલા તથા શણના વસ્ત્રો પહેરેલા માણસને બોલાવ્યો.

4 And said to him, Go through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark on the foreheads of the men that groan and that grieve for all the iniquities that are done in the midst of them.

૪યહોવાહે તેને કહ્યું, “યરુશાલેમમાં એટલે નગર મધ્યે સર્વત્ર ફર અને જે માણસો તેઓની આસપાસ નગરમાં ચાલતાં ધિક્કારપાત્ર કૃત્યોને લીધે રડતા અને શોક કરતા હોય તેઓના કપાળ પર ચિહ્ન કર.”

5 And he said to the first in my hearing, Go after him into the city, and strike: and let not your eyes spare, and have no mercy.

૫પછી તેમણે બીજા માણસોને મારા સાંભળતાં કહ્યું, “નગરમાં તેઓની પાછળ જઈને સર્વત્ર ફરીને હત્યા કરો, તમારી આંખો દયા કરે નહિ તથા તેઓને છોડશો નહિ.

6 Slay utterly old man and youth, and virgin, and infants, and women: but go you not near any on whom is the mark: begin at my sanctuary. So they began with the elder men who were within in the house.

૬વૃદ્ધ પુરુષોને, યુવાનોને, યુવતીઓને, નાનાં બાળકોને તથા સ્ત્રીઓનો નાશ કરો. પણ જેઓના કપાળ પર ચિહ્ન હોય તેવા કોઈની પાસે જશો નહિ. મારા પવિત્રસ્થાનથી જ શરૂઆત કરો.” તેથી તેઓએ સભાસ્થાન આગળ ઊભેલા વડીલોથી જ શરૂઆત કરી.

7 And he said to them, Defile the house, and go out and fill the ways with dead bodies, and strike.

૭તેમણે તેઓને કહ્યું, “સભાસ્થાનને ભ્રષ્ટ કરો, મૃત્યુ પામેલાંથી આંગણાને ભરી દો. આગળ વધો, તેથી તેઓએ જઈને નગર પર હુમલો કર્યો.

8 And it came to pass as they were striking, that I fell upon my face, and cried out, and said, Alas, O Lord! will you destroy the remnant of Israel, in pouring out your wrath upon Jerusalem?

૮જ્યારે તે લોકો હુમલો કરતા હતા ત્યારે હું એકલો હતો. મેં ઊંધા પડીને પોકારીને કહ્યું, “હે પ્રભુ યહોવાહ! શું યરુશાલેમ પર તમારો રોષ વરસાવતાં તમે ઇઝરાયલમાં બાકી રહેલાઓનો નાશ કરશો?”

9 Then said he to me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Juda is become very exceedingly great: for the land is filled with many nations, and the city is filled with iniquity and uncleanness: because they have said, The Lord has forsaken the earth, The Lord looks not upon [it].

૯તેમણે મને કહ્યું: “ઇઝરાયલના તથા યહૂદિયાના લોકોના અપરાધ અતિશય મોટા છે. સમગ્ર દેશ રક્તપાત તથા અધમતાથી ભરપૂર છે. તેઓ કહે છે કે ‘યહોવાહે દેશને છોડી દીધો છે,’ ‘યહોવાહ જોતા નથી.’”

10 Therefore mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have any mercy: I have recompensed their ways upon their heads.

૧૦તેથી મારી આંખ તેઓના પર દયા રાખશે નહિ કે હું તેઓને છોડીશ નહિ. પણ તેને બદલે હું સઘળું તેઓના માથા પર લાવીશ.”

11 And, behold, the man clothed with the long robe, and girded with the girdle about his loins, answered and said, I have done as you did command me.

૧૧અને જુઓ, શણનાં વસ્રો પહેરેલો તથા કમરે શાહીનો ખડિયો લટકાવેલો માણસ પાછો આવ્યો. તેણે અહેવાલ આપીને કહ્યું, “તમારા હુકમ પ્રમાણે મેં બધું જ કર્યું છે.”
