Jezekiel 7

1 Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Also, you, son of man, say,

La parole de Yahweh me fut adressée en ces termes:

2 Thus says the Lord; An end is come to the land of Israel, the end is come on the four corners of the land.

Et toi, fils de l’homme, ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh au pays d’Israël: La fin! La fin vient sur les quatre coins de la terre!

3 The end is come on you,

Maintenant la fin vient sur toi; je vais donner cours à ma colère contre toi; je te jugerai d’après tes œuvres; je ferai retomber sur toi toutes tes abominations.

4 the inhabitant of the land: the time is come, the day has drawn near, not with tumult, nor with pangs.

Mon œil ne t’épargnera pas, et je serai sans pitié; car je ferai retomber sur toi tes œuvres, et tes abominations seront au milieu de toi; et vous saurez que je suis Yahweh.

5 Now I will pour out my anger upon you near at hand, and I will accomplish my wrath on you: and I will judge you for your ways, and recompense upon you all your abominations.

Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh: Un malheur unique! Un malheur! Voici qu’il arrive!

6 Mine eye shall not spare, nor will I have any mercy: for I will recompense your ways upon you, and your abominations shall be in the midst of you; and you shall know that I am the Lord that strike [you].

Une fin vient! La fin arrive! Elle s’éveille contre toi; voici qu’elle arrive!

7 Now the end [is come] to you, and I will send [judgement] upon you: and I will take vengeance on your ways, and will recompense all your abominations upon you.

Ton sort est venu, habitant du pays; le temps vient, le jour est proche! Du tumulte!... et non le cri de joie sur les montagnes.

8 Mine eye shall not spare, nor will I have any mercy: for I will recompense your way upon you, and your abominations shall be in the midst of you; and you shall know that I am the Lord.

Maintenant, je vais sans tarder répandre mon courroux sur toi; j’assouvirai sur toi ma colère, je te jugerai selon tes voies, et je ferai retomber sur toi toutes tes abominations.

9 For thus says the Lord; Behold, the end is come.

Mon œil n’épargnera pas, et je serai sans pitié; je ferai retomber sur toi tes œuvres, tes abominations seront au milieu de toi; et vous saurez que c’est moi, Yahweh, qui frappe!

10 Behold, the day of the Lord! although the rod has blossomed,

Voici le jour; voici qu’il vient; ton sort est arrivé; la verge fleurit, l’orgueil éclôt.

11 pride has sprung up, and will break the staff of the wicked one, and [that] not with tumult, nor with haste.

La violence s’élève, pour être la verge de l’impiété. Il ne restera rien d’eux, ni de leur multitude, ni de leur tumulte, et ils n’auront plus d’éclat.

12 The time is come, behold the day: let not the buyer rejoice, and let not the seller mourn.

Le temps vient, le jour approche! Que l’acheteur ne se réjouisse pas, et que le vendeur ne s’afflige point; car la colère va éclater sur toute leur multitude.

13 For the buyer shall never again return to the seller, neither shall a man cleave with the eye [of hope] to his life.

Le vendeur ne rentrera pas en possession de ce qu’il aura vendu, fût-il encore parmi les vivants; car la vision contre toute leur multitude ne sera pas révoquée, et nul par son péché n’assurera sa vie.

14 Sound you the trumpet, and pass sentence on all together.

On sonne la trompette, et tout est prêt; mais personne ne marche au combat, car ma colère est contre toute leur multitude.

15 [There shall be] war with the sword without, and famine and pestilence within: he that is in the field shall die by the sword; and famine and pestilence shall destroy them that are in the city.

Au dehors, l’épée; au dedans, la peste et la famine; celui qui est aux champs mourra par l’épée, et celui qui est dans la ville, la famine et la peste le dévoreront.

16 But they that escape of them shall be delivered, and shall be upon the mountains: and I will kill all [the rest], every one for his iniquities.

Si des fugitifs parmi eux s’enfuient, ils erreront sur les montagnes comme les colombes des vallées, tous gémissant, chacun pour son péché.

17 All hands shall be completely weakened, and all thighs shall be defiled with moisture.

Toutes les mains sont défaillantes, et tous les genoux se fondent en eau.

18 And they shall gird themselves with sackcloth, and amazement shall cover them; and shame shall be upon them, [even] upon every face, and baldness upon every head.

Ils se revêtent de sacs, et la terreur les enveloppe; la confusion est sur tous les visages, et toutes les têtes sont rasées.

19 Their silver shall be cast forth in the streets, and their gold shall be despised: their souls shall not be satisfied, and their bellies shall not be filled: for it was the punishment of their iniquities.

Ils jetteront leur argent dans les rues, et leur or sera pour eux de l’ordure; leur argent et leur or ne pourront les délivrer, au jour de la colère de Yahweh; ils n’en rassasieront pas leur âme, et n’en rempliront pas leurs entrailles; car c’est là ce qui les a fait tomber dans l’iniquité.

20 [As for] their choice ornaments, they employed them for pride, and they made of them images of their abominations: therefore have I made them uncleanness to them.

Des joyaux dont ils se paraient, ils faisaient leur orgueil; ils en fabriquaient leurs abominations, leurs idoles. C’est pourquoi je changerai tout cela en ordure,

21 And I will deliver them into the hands of strangers to make them a prey, and to the pests of the earth for a spoil; and they shall profane them.

et je le livrerai en pillage aux mains des étrangers, en proie aux impies de la terre, — et ils le souilleront.

22 And I will turn away my face from them, and they shall defile my charge, and shall go in to them unguardedly, and profane them.

Je détournerai d’eux mon visage, et on souillera mon trésor; des hommes de violence y entreront et le souilleront.

23 And they shall work uncleanness: because the land is full of strange nations, and the city is full of iniquity.

Prépare les chaînes; car le pays est rempli d’attentats, et la ville de violences.

24 And I will turn back the boasting of their strength; and their holy things shall be defiled.

Et je ferai venir les plus méchants d’entre les peuples, et ils s’empareront de leurs maisons, et ils mettront fin à l’orgueil des puissants; et leurs lieux saints seront profanés.

25 And [though] propitiation shall come, and [one] shall seek peace, yet there shall be none.

La ruine vient; ils chercheront la paix, et il n’y en aura point.

26 There shall be woe upon woe, and there shall be message upon message; and a vision shall be sought from a prophet; but the law shall perish from the priest, and counsel from the elders.

Il arrivera malheur sur malheur, et nouvelle sur nouvelle; et ils chercheront des visions auprès des prophètes, et la loi fera défaut au prêtre, et le conseil aux anciens.

27 The prince shall clothe himself with desolation, and the hands of the people of the land shall be made feeble: I will do to them according to their ways, and according to their judgements will I punish them; and they shall know that I am the Lord.

Le roi sera dans le deuil, le prince se vêtira de tristesse, et les mains du peuple du pays trembleront. Je les traiterai d’après leurs œuvres, je les jugerai selon leurs mérites; et ils sauront que je suis Yahweh.
