Amos 1
1 The words of Amos which came [to him] in Accarim out of Thecue, which he saw concerning Jerusalem, in the days of Ozias king of Juda, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joas king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
Paroles d'Amos qui lui vinrent en la bergerie de Thécué et dont il eut la vision concernant Jérusalem, durant les jours d'Ozias, roi de Juda, et durant les jours de Jéroboam, fils de Joas, roi d'Israël, deux ans avant le tremblement de terre.
2 And he said, The Lord has spoken out of Sion, and has uttered his voice out of Jerusalem; and the pastures of the shepherds have mourned, and the top of Carmel is dried up.
Et il dit: Le Seigneur a parlé du haut de Sion, Il a fait entendre Sa voix de Jérusalem, et les pâturages des bergers ont été désolés, et la cime du Carmel a été desséchée.
3 And the Lord said, For three sins of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away from it; because they sawed with iron saws the women with child of the Galaadites.
Et le Seigneur a dit: Ce n'est point à cause des triples et quadruples impiétés de Damas que Je la prendrai en aversion; c'est parce qu'avec des scies de fer ils ont scié les femmes enceintes en Galaad.
4 And I will send a fire on the house of Azael, and it shall devour the foundations of the son of Ader.
Et Je lancerai la flamme sur la maison d'Azaël, et elle dévorera les fondations des fils d'Ader.
5 And I will break to pieces the bars of Damascus, and will destroy the inhabitants out of the plain of On, and will cut in pieces a tribe out of the men of Charrhan: and the famous people of Syria shall be led captive, says the Lord.
Et Je briserai les verrous de Damas, et J'exterminerai ceux qui habitent la plaine d'On, et Je taillerai en pièces la tribu des hommes d'Haran, et l'élite du peuple de Syrie sera emmenée en captivité, dit le Seigneur.
6 Thus says the Lord; For three sins of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away from them; because they took prisoners the captivity of Solomon, to shut [them] up into Idumea.
Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Ce n'est point à cause des triples et quadruples impiétés de Gaza que Je les prendrai en aversion, c'est parce qu'ils ont fait prisonniers les captifs pour les enclore en Idumée.
7 And I will send forth a fire on the walls of Gaza, and it shall devour its foundations.
Et Je lancerai la flamme sur les murs de Gaza, et elle dévorera les fondations.
8 And I will destroy the inhabitants out of Azotus, and a tribe shall be cut off from Ascalon, and I will stretch out my hand upon Accaron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, says the Lord.
Et J'exterminerai les habitants d'Azot; et la tribu d'Ascalon sera détruite, et J'étendrai la main sur Accaron, et le reste des Philistins périra, dit le Seigneur.
9 Thus says the Lord; For three transgressions of Tyre, and for four, I will not turn away from it; because they shut up the prisoners of Solomon into Idumea, and remembered not the covenant of brethren.
Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Ce n'est point à cause des triples et quadruples impiétés de Tyr que Je les prendrai en aversion, c'est parce qu'ils ont enclos en Idumée les captifs de Salomon, et qu'ils ne se sont point souvenus de l'alliance de leurs frères.
10 And I will send forth a fire on the walls of Tyre, and it shall devour the foundations of it.
Et Je lancerai la flamme sur les remparts de Tyr, et elle en dévorera les fondations.
11 Thus says the Lord; For three sins of Idumea, and for four, I will not turn away from them; because they pursued their brother with the sword, and destroyed the mother upon the earth, and summoned up his anger for a testimony, and kept up his fury to the end.
Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Ce n'est point à cause des triples et quadruples impiétés de l'Idumée que Je les prendrai en aversion, c'est parce qu'ils ont poursuivi leurs frères à coups de glaive, et profané leur mère sur la terre, et pris en témoignage son effroi, et qu'ils ont gardé leur emportement dans la victoire.
12 And I will send forth a fire upon Thaman, and it shall devour the foundations of her walls.
Et Je lancerai la flamme sur Thaman; et elle dévorera les fondations de leurs remparts.
13 Thus says the Lord; For three sins of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away from him; because they ripped up the women with child of the Galaadites, that they might widen their coasts.
Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Ce n'est point à cause des triples et quadruples impiétés d'Ammon que Je le prendrai en aversion, c'est parce qu'ils ont déchiré les femmes enceintes des Galaadites, pour étendre les limites de leur territoire.
14 And I will kindle a fire on the walls of Rabbath, and it shall devour her foundations with shouting in the day of war, and she shall be shaken in the days of her destruction:
Et J'allumerai la flamme sur les murs de Rabbath, et elle en dévorera les fondations, au milieu des cris, en un jour de combat; et au jour de sa destruction cette ville tremblera.
15 and her kings shall go into captivity, their priests and their rulers together, says the Lord.
Et ses rois seront emmenés en captivité, et avec eux ses prêtres et ses princes, dit le Seigneur.
