Kings II 22
1 And David spoke to the Lord the words of this song, in the day in which the Lord rescued him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul.
Et David chanta ce cantique au Seigneur, le jour où le Seigneur l'eut délivré de Saül et de tous ses ennemis.
2 And the song was thus: O Lord, my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer,
Et il dit, en ce cantique: Seigneur, mon rocher, ma forteresse, mon sauveur!
3 my God; he shall be to me my guard, I will trust in him: [he is] my protector, and the horn of my salvation, my helper, and my sure refuge; you shall save me from the unjust man.
Mon Dieu sera mon gardien, je me confierai à lui; mon protecteur, mon salut, mon refuge, vous me sauverez de l'homme inique.
4 I will call upon the Lord who is worthy to be praised, and I shall be saved from my enemies.
J'invoquerai le Seigneur, à qui appartient la louange, et il me délivrera de mes ennemis.
5 For the troubles of death compassed me, the floods of iniquity amazed me:
Car les brisements de la mort m'ont investi, les torrents de l'iniquité m'ont frappé d'épouvante.
Les angoisses de la mort m'ont entouré, l'agonie de la mort a pris l'avance sur moi. (Sheol h7585)
7 When I am afflicted I will call upon the Lord, and will cry to my God, and he shall hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry shall come into his ears.
Dans mes afflictions j'invoquerai le Seigneur, je crierai à mon Dieu; de son temple, il entendra ma voix, mes cris arriveront à ses oreilles.
8 And the earth was troubled and quaked, and the foundations of heaven were confounded and torn asunder, because the Lord was angry with them.
La terre a été troublée, et elle a tremblé; les fondements du ciel ont été bouleversés, et ils se sont déchirés, parce que la colère du Seigneur a éclaté contre la terre et le ciel.
9 There went up a smoke in his wrath, and fire out of his mouth devours: coals were kindled at it.
Dans sa fureur une fumée s'exhale, le feu de sa bouche est dévorant; des charbons en ont été embrasés.
10 And he bowed the heavens, and came down, and [there was] darkness under his feet.
Il a abaissé les cieux et il est descendu, et les ténèbres s'étendaient sous ses pieds.
11 And he rode upon the cherubs and did fly, and was seen upon the wings of the wind.
Et il s'est assis sur les chérubins, et il a pris son essor, et il s'est montré sur les ailes des vents,
12 And he made darkness his hiding-place; his tabernacle round about him was the darkness of waters, he condensed it with the clouds of the air.
Et il s'est voilé de ténèbres. Et autour de lui, comme un tabernacle, il a étendu l'obscurité des eaux, condensées dans les nuées de l'air.
13 At the brightness before him coals of fire were kindled.
Et les lueurs qui le précédaient ont mis des charbons en feu.
14 The Lord thundered out of heaven, and the Most High uttered his voice.
Le Seigneur a tonné du haut du ciel, le très Haut a fait retentir sa voix.
15 And he sent forth arrows, and scattered them, and he flashed lightning, and dismayed them.
Il a lancé des traits et il a dispersé mes ennemis; il a fait tomber la foudre et il les a mis hors d'eux-mêmes.
16 And the channels of the sea were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered, at the rebuke of the Lord, at the blast of the breath of his anger.
Aux reproches du Seigneur, sous le souffle de sa colère, on a vu les gouffres de la mer, et les bases de la terre ont apparu.
17 He sent from above and took me; he drew me out of many waters.
Et il a envoyé d'en haut son ange, et il m'a pris, et il m'a tiré du tumulte des eaux.
18 He delivered me from my strong enemies, from them that hated me, for they were stronger than I.
Il m'a délivré de la force de mes ennemis, de ceux qui me haïssaient et qui l'emportaient sur moi.
19 The days of my affliction prevented me; but the Lord was my stay.
Les jours de mon affliction s'étaient précipités sur moi; mais le Seigneur a été mon appui;
20 And he brought me into a wide place, and rescued me, because he delighted in me.
Il m'a conduit dans de libres espaces, et il m'a affranchi, parce qu'il se complaisait en moi.
21 And the Lord recompensed me according to my righteousness; even according to the purity of my hands did he recompense me.
Le Seigneur m'a rétribué selon ma justice; il m'a rétribué selon la pureté de mes mains.
22 Because, I kept the ways of the Lord, and did not wickedly depart from my God.
Parce que j'ai suivi les voies du Seigneur, et que je n'ai point outragé mon Dieu.
23 For all his judgements and his ordinances [were] before me: I departed not from them.
Parce que ses jugements et ses justices ont toujours été devant moi, et que je ne m'en suis jamais écarté.
24 And I shall be blameless before him, and will keep myself from my iniquity.
Je serai sans tache à ses yeux, et je me tiendrai en garde contre mes dérèglements.
25 And the Lord will recompense me according to my righteousness, and according to the purity of my hands in his eye-sight.
Le Seigneur me rétribuera selon ma justice, et selon la pureté de mes mains devant ses yeux.
26 With the holy you will be holy, and with the perfect man you will be perfect,
Avec le saint vous serez saint, avec l'homme accompli vous serez accompli.
27 and with the excellent you will be excellent, and with the froward you will be froward.
Avec l'excellent vous serez excellent, avec le méchant vous serez méchant.
28 And you will save the poor people, and will bring down the eyes of the haughty.
Vous sauverez le peuple pauvre, et vous ferez baisser les yeux des superbes.
29 For you, Lord, [are] my lamp, and the Lord shall shine forth to me in my darkness.
Car, ô Seigneur, vous êtes ma lumière, et le Seigneur brillera devant moi dans mes ténèbres.
30 For by you shall I run [as] a girded man, and by my God shall I leap over a wall.
Avec votre aide je courrai comme un homme fort; avec l'aide de mon Dieu je franchirai des remparts.
31 As for the Mighty One, his way [is] blameless: the word of the Lord [is] strong [and] tried in the fire: he is a protector to all that put their trust in him.
Le Tout-Puissant, ses voies sont irréprochables; la parole du Seigneur est forte, éprouvée par le feu. Le Seigneur abrite tous ceux qui ont foi en lui.
32 Who [is] strong, but the Lord? and who will be a Creator except our God?
Qui donc est fort, hormis le Seigneur? Qui donc sera créateur, hormis notre Dieu?
33 [It is] the Mighty One who strengthens me with might, and has prepared my way without fault.
Le Tout-Puissant, c'est lui qui me fortifie par sa puissance, et qui m'a préparé une voie irréprochable.
34 He makes my feet like hart's feet, and sets me upon the high places.
Il rendu mes pieds légers comme ceux des cerfs; il m'a placé sur les hauts lieux.
35 He teaches my hands to war, and has broken a brazen bow by my arm.
Vous avez exercé mes mains aux combats; vous avez brisé par mon bras un arc d'airain.
36 And you have given me the shield of my salvation, and your propitious dealing has increased me,
Vous m'avez donné, Seigneur, le bouclier qui me sauve; mon obéissance à vos ordres m'a grandi.
37 so as to make room under me for my going, and my legs did not totter.
L'espace sous mes pas s'est étendu, et mes jambes ont conservé leur fermeté.
38 I will pursue my enemies, and will utterly destroy them; and I will not turn again till I have consumed them.
Je poursuivrai mes ennemis, et je les effacerai, et je ne reviendrai point qu'ils ne soient anéantis.
39 And I will crush them, and they shall not rise; and they shall fall under my feet.
Je les briserai, et ils ne se relèveront point; ils tomberont sous mes pieds.
40 And you shall strengthen me with power for the war; you shall cause them that rise up against me to bow down under me.
Et vous, par votre puissance, vous me fortifierez, Seigneur, pendant la bataille, et vous courberez sous moi ceux qui contre moi se sont levés.
41 And you have caused mine enemies to flee before me, even them that hated me, and you have slain them.
Vous m'avez fait voir le dos de mes ennemis, vous avez mis à mort ceux qui me haïssaient.
42 They shall cry, and there shall be no helper; to the Lord, but he hearkens not to them.
Ils n'ont plus de secours; ils crieront au Seigneur, mais le Seigneur ne les exaucera plus.
43 And I ground them as the dust of the earth, I beat them small as the mire of the streets.
Je les ai broyés comme de la poussière; je les ai aplatis comme la boue du chemin.
44 And you shall deliver me from the striving of the peoples, you shall keep me [to be] the head of the Gentiles: a people which I knew not served me.
Vous me préserverez, ô Seigneur, des contradictions des peuples; et vous me maintiendrez à la tête des nations; un peuple que je ne connaissais pas m'a été asservi;
45 The strange children feigned [obedience] to me; they listened to me as soon as they heard.
Les fils des étrangers m'avaient trompé; ils ont ouï votre parole, et ils m'ont été dociles.
46 The strange children shall be cast away, and shall be overthrown out of their hiding places.
Les fils des étrangers seront rejetés avec mépris, et ils trébucheront dans leurs places de retraite.
47 The Lord lives, and blessed [be] my guardian, and my God, my strong keeper, shall be exalted.
Vive le Seigneur! béni soit mon gardien, et Dieu, le gardien de mon salut, sera glorifié.
48 The Lord who avenges me [is] strong, chastening the nations under me,
Le Seigneur qui m'a vengé, en châtiant par mon bras les nations, est tout-puissant.
49 and bringing me out from my enemies: and you shall set me on high from amongst those that rise up against me: you shall deliver me from the violent man.
Il m'a tiré de leurs mains; vous m'élèverez encore, ô Seigneur, au- dessus de ceux qui se lèveront contre moi, vous me défendrez contre les hommes violents.
50 Therefore will I confess to you, O Lord, amongst the Gentiles, and sing to your name.
A cause de cela, Seigneur, je vous rendrai gloire parmi toutes les nations, et je chanterai votre nom,
51 He magnifies the salvation of his king, and works mercy for his anointed, even for David and for his seed for ever.
O vous, qui rendez grand le salut de votre roi, qui êtes miséricordieux envers David, votre christ, et envers sa postérité à jamais!
