Kings I 10

1 And Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured [it] on his head, and kissed him, and said to him, Has not the Lord anointed you for a ruler over his people, over Israel? and you shall rule amongst the people of the Lord, and you shall save them out of the hand of their enemies; and this [shall be] the sign to you that the Lord has anointed you for a ruler over his inheritance.

൧അപ്പോൾ ശമൂവേൽ ഒരു പാത്രം തൈലം എടുത്ത് അവന്റെ തലയിൽ ഒഴിച്ച് അവനെ ചുംബിച്ച് പറഞ്ഞത്: “യഹോവ തന്റെ അവകാശത്തിന് അധിപനായി നിന്നെ അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

2 [As soon] as you shall have departed this day from me, you shall find two men by the burial-place of Rachel on the mount of Benjamin, exulting greatly; and they shall say to you, The asses are found which you went to seek; and, behold, your father has given up the matter of the asses, and he is anxious for you, saying, What shall I do for my son?

൨നീ ഇന്ന് എന്നെ പിരിഞ്ഞുപോകുമ്പോൾ ബെന്യാമീന്റെ അതിർത്തിയിലെ സെൽസഹിൽ റാഹേലിന്റെ കല്ലറക്കരികിൽവെച്ച് രണ്ടാളുകളെ കാണും; നീ അന്വേഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്ന കഴുതകളെ കണ്ടുകിട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ അപ്പൻ ഇപ്പോൾ കഴുതകളെക്കുറിച്ചല്ല: എന്റെ മകന് വേണ്ടി ഞാൻ എന്ത് ചെയ്യേണം എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ്, നിങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച് വിഷാദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് അവർ നിന്നോട് പറയും.

3 And you shall depart thence, and shall go beyond that as far as the oak of Thabor, and you shall find there three men going up to God to Baethel, one bearing three kids, and another bearing three vessels of bread, and another bearing a bottle of wine.

൩അവിടെനിന്ന് നീ മുമ്പോട്ട് ചെന്ന് താബോരിലെ കരുവേലകത്തിന്നരികെ എത്തുമ്പോൾ ഒരുവൻ മൂന്ന് ആട്ടിൻകുട്ടിയെയും, വേറൊരുവൻ മൂന്ന് അപ്പവും, മറ്റൊരുവൻ ഒരു തുരുത്തി വീഞ്ഞും ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ട് ഇങ്ങനെ മൂന്നു പുരുഷന്മാർ ബേഥേലിൽ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പോകുന്നതായി നിനക്ക് എതിരെ വരും.

4 And they shall ask you how you do, and shall give you two presents of bread, and you shall receive them of their hand.

൪അവർ നിന്നോട് കുശലം ചോദിക്കും; നിനക്ക് രണ്ടു അപ്പവും തരും; നീ അത് അവരുടെ കയ്യിൽനിന്ന് വാങ്ങിക്കൊള്ളണം.

5 And afterward you shall go to the hill of God, where is the encampment of the Philistines; there [is] Nasib the Philistine: an it shall come to pass when you shall have entered into the city, that you shall meet a band of prophets coming down from the Bama; and before them will be lutes, and a drum, and a pipe, and a harp, and they shall prophesy.

൫അതിന്‍റെശേഷം നീ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ പട്ടാളം ഉള്ള ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പർവ്വതത്തിൽ എത്തും; അവിടെ പട്ടണത്തിൽ കടക്കുമ്പോൾ മുമ്പിൽ വീണ, തപ്പ്, കുഴൽ, കിന്നരം എന്നിവയോടുകൂടെ പൂജാഗിരിയിൽനിന്ന് ഇറങ്ങിവരുന്ന ഒരു പ്രവാചകഗണത്തെ കാണും; അവർ പ്രവചിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കും.

6 And the Spirit of the Lord shall come upon you, and you shall prophesy with them, and shall be turned into another man.

൬യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവ് ശക്തിയോടെ നിന്റെമേൽ വരും. നീയും അവരോടുകൂടെ പ്രവചിക്കും. നീ വേറൊരു മനുഷ്യനായി മാറും.

7 And it shall come to pass when these signs shall come upon you, —[then] do you whatever your hand shall find, because God [is] with you.

൭ഈ അടയാളങ്ങൾ നിനക്ക് സംഭവിക്കുമ്പോൾ നിനക്ക് ഉചിതം എന്ന് തോന്നുന്നത് ചെയ്യുക; ദൈവം നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ട്.

8 And you shall go down in front of Galgal, and behold, I come down to you to offer a whole burnt offering and peace-offerings: seven days shall you wait until I shall come to you, and I will make known to you what you shall do.

൮എന്നാൽ നീ എനിക്ക് മുമ്പെ ഗില്ഗാലിലേക്ക് പോകേണം; ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളും സമാധാനയാഗങ്ങളും അർപ്പിക്കുവാൻ ഞാൻ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരും; ഞാൻ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽവന്ന് നീ ചെയ്യേണ്ടതെന്തെന്ന് പറഞ്ഞുതരുംവരെ ഏഴു ദിവസം അവിടെ കാത്തിരിക്കേണം.

9 And it came to pass when he turned his back to depart from Samuel, God gave him another heart; and all these signs came to pass in that day.

൯ഇങ്ങനെ അവൻ ശമൂവേലിനെ വിട്ടുപിരിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ദൈവം ശൌലിന് വേറൊരു ഹൃദയം കൊടുത്തു; ആ അടയാളങ്ങളെല്ലാം അന്നുതന്നെ സംഭവിച്ചു.

10 And he comes thence to the hill, and behold a band of prophets opposite to him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied in the midst of them.

൧൦അവർ അവിടെ പർവ്വതത്തിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ ഒരു പ്രവാചകഗണം അവനെതിരെ വരുന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവ് ശക്തിയോടെ അവന്റെമേൽ വന്നു; അവൻ അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ പ്രവചിച്ചു.

11 And all that had known him before came, and saw, and behold, he [was] in the midst of the prophets: and the people said every one to his neighbour, What [is] this that has happened to the son of Kis? [is] Saul also amongst the prophets?

൧൧അവനെ മുൻപെ അറിയാവുന്നവർ ഒക്കെയും അവൻ പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ പ്രവചിക്കുന്നത് കണ്ടപ്പോൾ: “കീശിന്റെ മകന് എന്ത് സംഭവിച്ചു? ശൌലും പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ ആയോ” എന്ന് ജനം തമ്മിൽതമ്മിൽ പറഞ്ഞു.

12 And one of them answered and said, And who [is] his father? and therefore it became a proverb, [Is] Saul also amongst the prophets?

൧൨അതിന് അവിടെ ഉള്ള ഒരാൾ: “ആരാകുന്നു അവരുടെ പിതാവ്” എന്ന് ചോദിച്ചു. ആകയാൽ ശൌലും ഉണ്ടോ പ്രവാചകഗണത്തിൽ എന്നുള്ളത് പഴഞ്ചൊല്ലായി തീർന്നു.

13 And he ceased prophesying, and comes to the hill.

൧൩അവൻ പ്രവചിച്ച് കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം ഗിബെയയിൽ എത്തി.

14 And his kinsman said to him and to his servant, Whither went you? and they said, To seek the asses; and we saw that they were lost, and we went in to Samuel.

൧൪ശൌലിന്റെ ഇളയപ്പൻ അവനോടും അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യനോടും: “നിങ്ങൾ എവിടെ പോയിരുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. കഴുതകളെ അന്വേഷിക്കുവാൻ പോയിരുന്നു; അവയെ കാണാഞ്ഞതിനാൽ ഞങ്ങൾ ശമൂവേലിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പോയി” എന്ന് അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

15 And his kinsman said to Saul, Tell me, I pray you, What did Samuel say to you?

൧൫ശമൂവേൽ നിങ്ങളോട് പറഞ്ഞത് എന്നെ അറിയിക്കണം എന്ന് ശൌലിന്റെ ഇളയപ്പൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

16 And Saul said to his kinsman, he verily told me that the asses were found. But the matter of the kingdom he told him not.

൧൬ശൌല്‍ തന്റെ ഇളയപ്പനോട്: “കഴുതകളെ കണ്ടുകിട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് അവൻ ഞങ്ങളോട് വ്യക്തമായി അറിയിച്ചു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു;” എങ്കിലും ശമൂവേൽ രാജത്വം സംബന്ധിച്ച് പറഞ്ഞത് ശൌല്‍ അവനോട് അറിയിച്ചില്ല.

17 And Samuel summoned all the people before the Lord to Massephath.

൧൭അതിനുശേഷം ശമൂവേൽ ജനത്തെ മിസ്പയിൽ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി,

18 And he said to the children of Israel, Thus has the Lord God of Israel spoken, saying, I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, and I rescued you out of the hand of Pharao king of Egypt, and out of all the kingdoms that afflicted you.

൧൮യിസ്രായേൽ മക്കളോട് പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ: “യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഞാൻ യിസ്രായേൽ മക്കളെ മിസ്രയീമിൽനിന്ന് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. അവരുടെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നും, നിങ്ങളെ ഉപദ്രവിച്ച സകലരാജ്യക്കാരുടെയും കയ്യിൽനിന്നും നിങ്ങളെ വിടുവിച്ചു.

19 And you have this day rejected God, who is himself your Deliverer out of all your evils and afflictions; and you said, Nay, but you shall set a king over us: and now stand before the Lord according to your tribes, and according to your families.

൧൯നിങ്ങളുടെ എല്ലാ എതിരാളികളിൽ നിന്നും കഷ്ടങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും നിങ്ങളെ രക്ഷിച്ച നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തെ ഇന്ന് ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു: ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് ഒരു രാജാവിനെ നിയമിച്ചുതരേണമെന്ന് ദൈവത്തോട് പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ട് നിങ്ങൾ ഇപ്പോൾ ഗോത്രംഗോത്രമായും ആയിരമായിരമായും യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ നിൽക്കുവിൻ.

20 And Samuel brought near all the tribes of Israel, and the tribe of Benjamin is taken by lot.

൨൦അങ്ങനെ ശമൂവേൽ യിസ്രായേൽ ഗോത്രങ്ങളെയെല്ലാം തന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരുത്തി നറുക്കിട്ടു; ബെന്യാമീൻ ഗോത്രത്തിന് നറുക്ക് വീണു.

21 And he brings near the tribe of Benjamin by families, and the family of Mattari is taken by lot: and they bring near the family of Mattari, man by man, and Saul the son of Kis is taken; and he sought him, but he was not found.

൨൧അവൻ ബെന്യാമീൻഗോത്രത്തെ കുടുംബംകുടുംബമായി അടുക്കൽ വരുത്തി; മത്രികുടുംബത്തിന് നറുക്ക് വീണു; അതിൽ കീശിന്റെ മകനായ ശൌലിന് നറുക്ക് വീണു; അവർ അവനെ അന്വേഷിച്ചപ്പോൾ കണ്ടില്ല.

22 And Samuel asked yet again of the Lord, Will the man come here? and the Lord said, Behold, he is hid amongst the stuff.

൨൨അവർ പിന്നെയും യഹോവയോട്: “അയാൾ ഇവിടെ വന്നിട്ടുണ്ടോ” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന് യഹോവ: “അവൻ സാധനങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽ ഒളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്ന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

23 And he ran and took him thence, and he set him in the midst of the people; and he was higher than all the people by his shoulders and upwards.

൨൩അവർ ഓടിച്ചെന്ന് അവിടെനിന്ന് അവനെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. ജനമധ്യത്തിൽ നിന്നപ്പോൾ അവൻ ജനത്തിൽ എല്ലാവരെക്കാളും ഉയരമേറിയവനായിരുന്നു.

24 And Samuel said to all the people, Have you seen whom the Lord has chosen to himself, that there is none like to him amongst you all? And all the people took notice, and said, Let the king live!

൨൪അപ്പോൾ ശമൂവേൽ സർവ്വജനത്തോടും: “യഹോവ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തവനെ നിങ്ങൾ കാണുന്നുവോ? സർവ്വജനത്തിലും അവനെപ്പോലെ ഒരുവൻ ഇല്ലല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ജനമെല്ലാം: “രാജാവേ, ജയജയ” എന്ന് ആർത്തു.

25 And Samuel told the people the manner of the king, and wrote it in a book, and set it before the Lord: and Samuel sent away all the people, and each went to his place.

൨൫അതിന്‍റെശേഷം ശമൂവേൽ രാജാവിന്റെ കടമകളെപ്പറ്റി ജനത്തെ പറഞ്ഞു കേൾപ്പിച്ചു; അത് ഒരു പുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതി യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ വെച്ചു. പിന്നെ ശമൂവേൽ ജനങ്ങളെയെല്ലാം വീട്ടിലേക്ക് പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു.

26 And Saul departed to his house to Gabaa; and there went with Saul mighty men whose hearts God had touched.

൨൬ശൌലും ഗിബെയയിൽ തന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്ക് പോയി; ദൈവം മനസ്സിൽ തോന്നിപ്പിച്ച വീരന്മാരായ ഒരു കൂട്ടം ആളുകളും അവനോടുകൂടെ പോയി.

27 But evil men said, Who [is] this man [that] shall save us? and they despised him, and brought him no gifts.

൨൭എന്നാൽ ചില എതിരാളികൾ: “ഇവൻ നമ്മെ എങ്ങനെ രക്ഷിക്കും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് അവനെ ധിക്കരിച്ചു, അവന് കാഴ്ച കൊണ്ടുവരാതെയിരുന്നു. അവനോ അത് കാര്യമാക്കിയില്ല.
