< Psalms 49 >

1 Alamoth. To the chief music-maker. Of the sons of Korah. A Psalm. Give attention to this, all you peoples; let your ears be open, all you who are living in the world.
Nangho mipite’n hichehi ngaijuvin! Nangho vannoi mite jouse’n ngaicheh uvin!
2 High and low together, the poor, and those who have wealth.
Milen le mineo, ahao avai in ngaisoh keijun!
3 From my mouth will come words of wisdom; and in the thoughts of my heart will be knowledge.
Ajeh chu kathuseiho hi chihna thu ahin, chuleh kalung’a kagel jong hi hetgilna dimset ahi.
4 I will put my teaching into a story; I will make my dark sayings clear with music.
Keiman thuchih kaseiho chu giltah’in kegel’in hiti chun semjang sai a kitilkhou in thulem kaseiho suhlhap na kanei ji'e.
5 What cause have I for fear in the days of evil, when the evil-doing of those who are working for my downfall is round about me?
Kagalmite’n eihin umkimvel’uva boinan eihin lhunkhum teng idia kakichat ding ham?
6 Even of those whose faith is in their wealth, and whose hearts are lifted up because of their stores.
Amahon anei agouhou atahsan un ahaotheinau a akiletsah ui.
7 Truly, no man may get back his soul for a price, or give to God the payment for himself;
Ahijeng vang’in athina diuva kon’in amaho le amaho akihuhdoh joupouvin Pathen henga sum in ahinkhou akichoh thei pouve.
8 (Because it takes a great price to keep his soul from death, and man is not able to give it.)
Lhatdamna kitihi bailam tah a um ahipoi, ajeh chu koiman alhingset’in apejou poi;
9 So that he might have eternal life, and never see the underworld.
tonsot’a hingjing a lhanmun’a chelou hel nading chu.
10 For he sees that wise men come to their end, and foolish persons of low behaviour come to destruction together, letting their wealth go to others.
Michingho chu nikhat thitei diu ahi, hiche mingol le lungel neilou ho banga anei agouhou chu adalhah cheh di’u ahi.
11 The place of the dead is their house for ever, and their resting-place through all generations; those who come after them give their names to their lands.
Lhanmol chu atonsot in’u ahitan achen jingna di’u mun chu ahitai. Anei agouho’u chu amaho min putsah jeng leu.
12 But man, like the animals, does not go on for ever; he comes to an end like the beasts.
Aminthan nao chu sotlou ding ganhing ho bang’a thithou thou di’u ahi.
13 This is the way of the foolish; their silver is for those who come after them, and their children get the pleasure of their gold. (Selah)
Amaho hi min miching dan’in geljong leu mingol bang’a thina ato thou thou di’u ahi.
14 Death will give them their food like sheep; the underworld is their fate and they will go down into it; their flesh is food for worms; their form is wasted away; the underworld is their resting-place for ever. (Sheol h7585)
Kelngoiho bang’a lhanmun lhung thou thou di’u thina chu akelngoi chingpa’u hiding, anei agouhou a kon’a gamlatah’a lhanmun khat’a monlha thou thou diu ahi. (Sheol h7585)
15 But God will get back my soul; for he will take me from the power of death. (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
Ahin keivang Pathen’in kahinkho eilhatdoh peh’in tin, Aman lhanmun’a kon’in eihuhdoh nante. (Sheol h7585)
16 Have no fear when wealth comes to a man, and the glory of his house is increased;
Hijeh chun migilou ho ahung hao ua a innchen ujong ahung hoibe cheh tengu le lunglhadah hih in.
17 For at his death, he will take nothing away; his glory will not go down after him.
Ajeh chu amaho athiteng uleh imacha akipoh di’u aumpoi anei agou’un lhan sung’ah juilut thei pouvinte.
18 Though he might have pride in his soul in his life-time, and men will give you praise if you do well for yourself,
Hiche lei hinkho’a hin alolhin jeh’un vangpha le ochat um’in kigel jong leu,
19 He will go to the generation of his fathers; he will not see the light again.
Chemasa ho bang bang’a thidiu khovah amukit louhel di’u ahitai.
20 Man, like the animals, does not go on for ever; he comes to an end like the beasts.
Anei agou’u kiletsahpi ho chun amaho jong ganhing bang’a phat khatleh thithou thou diu ahilam akihetdoh lou’u ahi.
