Isaiah 19
1 The word about Egypt. See, the Lord is seated on a quick-moving cloud, and is coming to Egypt: and the false gods of Egypt will be troubled at his coming, and the heart of Egypt will be turned to water.
Ausspruch über Ägypten. Siehe, Jehova fährt auf schneller Wolke und kommt nach Ägypten. Und die Götzen Ägyptens beben vor ihm, und das Herz Ägyptens zerschmilzt in seinem Innern.
2 And I will send the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they will be fighting every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour; town against town, and kingdom against kingdom.
Und ich will Ägypten aufreizen gegen Ägypten; und sie werden streiten, ein jeder wider seinen Bruder und ein jeder wider seinen Nächsten, Stadt wider Stadt, Königreich wider Königreich.
3 And the spirit of Egypt will be troubled in her, and I will make her decisions without effect: and they will be turning to the false gods, and to those who make hollow sounds, and to those who have control of spirits, and to those who are wise in secret arts.
Und der Geist Ägyptens wird vergehen [Eig. ausgeleert werden] in seinem Innern, und ich will seinen Ratschlag zunichte machen: und sie werden die Götzen und die Beschwörer und die Zauberer und die Wahrsager befragen.
4 And I will give the Egyptians into the hand of a cruel lord; and a hard king will be their ruler, says the Lord, the Lord of armies.
Und ich will die Ägypter überliefern in die Hand eines harten Herrn; und ein grausamer König wird über sie herrschen, spricht der Herr, Jehova der Heerscharen. -
5 And the waters of the sea will be cut off, and the river will become dry and waste:
Und die Wasser werden sich aus dem Meere [Eine im Altertum bekannte Bezeichnung für große Ströme; hier der vereinigte Nil] verlaufen, [Eig. seicht werden] und der Strom wird versiegen und austrocknen, und die Ströme [d. h. die verschiedenen Arme des Nil] werden stinken;
6 And the rivers will have an evil smell; the stream of Egypt will become small and dry: all the water-plants will come to nothing.
die Kanäle Mazors [Mazor. eig. Unterägypten, bezeichnet auch als poetischer Name das ganze Ägyptenland] nehmen ab und versiegen, Rohr und Schilf verwelken.
7 The grass-lands by the Nile, and everything planted by the Nile, will become dry, or taken away by the wind, and will come to an end.
Die Auen am Nil, am Ufer des Nil, und jedes Saatfeld am Nil verdorrt, zerstiebt und ist nicht mehr.
8 The fishermen will be sad, and all those who put fishing-lines into the Nile will be full of grief, and those whose nets are stretched out on the waters will have sorrow in their hearts.
Und die Fischer klagen, und es trauern alle, welche Angeln in den Nil auswerfen; und die das Netz ausbreiten auf der Wasserfläche, schmachten hin. [O. stehen kläglich da]
9 And all the workers in linen thread, and those who make cotton cloth, will be put to shame.
Und beschämt sind die Wirker gehechelten Flachses und die Weber von Baumwollenzeug.
10 And the makers of twisted thread will be crushed, and those who ... will be sad in heart.
Und seine Grundpfeiler [d. h. die Pfeiler des Staates] sind zerschlagen; alle, die um Lohn arbeiten, sind seelenbetrübt. -
11 The chiefs of Zoan are completely foolish; the wisest guides of Pharaoh have become like beasts: how do you say to Pharaoh, I am the son of the wise, the offspring of early kings?
Eitel Toren sind die Fürsten von Zoan, die weisen Räte des Pharao; ihr Ratschlag ist dumm geworden. Wie saget ihr zu dem Pharao: "Ich bin ein Sohn der Weisen, ein Sohn der Könige von ehemals?"
12 Where, then, are your wise men? let them make clear to you, let them give you knowledge of the purpose of the Lord of armies for Egypt.
Wo sind sie denn, deine Weisen? mögen sie dir doch verkünden und erkennen, was Jehova der Heerscharen über [O. gegen; so auch v 17] Ägypten beschlossen hat.
13 The chiefs of Zoan have become foolish, the chiefs of Noph are tricked, the heads of her tribes are the cause of Egypt's wandering out of the way.
Die Fürsten von Zoan sind betört, die Fürsten von Noph [Memphis] sind betrogen; es haben Ägypten irregeführt die Häupter [W. Ecksteine] seiner Stämme.
14 The Lord has sent among them a spirit of error: and by them Egypt is turned out of the right way in all her doings, as a man overcome by wine is uncertain in his steps.
Jehova hat in sein Inneres einen Geist des Schwindels ausgegossen, daß sie Ägypten irregeführt haben in all seinem Tun, wie ein Trunkener taumelt in seinem Gespei.
15 And in Egypt there will be no work for any man, head or tail, high or low, to do.
Und von Ägypten wird keine Tat geschehen, welche Haupt oder Schwanz, Palmzweig oder Binse verrichte. -
16 In that day the Egyptians will be like women: and the land will be shaking with fear because of the waving of the Lord's hand stretched out over it.
An jenem Tage werden die Ägypter wie Weiber sein; und sie werden zittern und beben vor dem Schwingen der Hand Jehovas der Heerscharen, die er wider sie schwingen wird.
17 And the land of Judah will become a cause of great fear to Egypt; whenever its name comes to mind, Egypt will be in fear before the Lord of armies because of his purpose against it.
Und das Land Juda wird für Ägypten zum Schrecken sein. So oft jemand es bei den Ägyptern [Eig. vor ihm; [Ägypten]] erwähnt, werden sie beben wegen des Ratschlusses Jehovas der Heerscharen, welchen er über sie beschlossen hat.
18 In that day there will be five towns in the land of Egypt using the language of Canaan, and making oaths to the Lord of armies; and one of them will be named, The Town of the Sun.
An jenem Tage werden fünf Städte im Lande Ägypten sein, welche die Sprache Kanaans reden und bei Jehova der Heerscharen schwören werden. Eine wird die Stadt Heres [Stadt des Niederreißens; and. l.: Cheres: die Sonnenstadt, Heliopolis] heißen.
19 In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the middle of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the Lord at the edge of the land.
An jenem Tage wird inmitten des Landes Ägypten ein Altar dem Jehova geweiht sein, und eine Denksäule nahe an seiner Grenze dem Jehova;
20 And it will be a sign and a witness to the Lord of armies in the land of Egypt: when they are crying out to the Lord because of their cruel masters, then he will send them a saviour and a strong one to make them free.
und das wird zu einem Denkzeichen und zu einem Zeugnis sein dem Jehova der Heerscharen im Lande Ägypten. Denn sie werden zu Jehova schreien wegen der Bedrücker, und er wird ihnen einen Retter und Streiter [O. Feldherrn] senden und sie erretten.
21 And the Lord will give the knowledge of himself to Egypt, and the Egyptians will give honour to the Lord in that day; they will give him worship with offerings and meal offerings, and will take an oath to the Lord and give effect to it.
Und Jehova wird sich den Ägyptern kundgeben, und die Ägypter werden Jehova erkennen an jenem Tage; und sie werden dienen mit Schlachtopfern und Speisopfern, und werden Jehova Gelübde tun und bezahlen.
22 And the Lord will send punishment on Egypt, and will make them well again; and when they come back to the Lord he will give ear to their prayer and take away their disease.
Und Jehova wird die Ägypter schlagen, schlagen und heilen; [Eig. schlagend und heilend] und sie werden sich zu [Eig. bis zu] Jehova wenden, und er wird sich von ihnen erbitten lassen und sie heilen.
23 In that day there will be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and Assyria will come into Egypt, and Egypt will come into Assyria; and the Egyptians will give worship to the Lord together with the Assyrians.
An jenem Tage wird eine Straße [Eig. ein hoher, aufgeworfene Straße] sein von Ägypten nach Assyrien; und die Assyrer werden nach Ägypten und die Ägypter nach Assyrien kommen, und die Ägypter werden mit den Assyrern Jehova dienen.
24 In that day Israel will be the third together with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the earth:
An jenem Tage wird Israel das dritte sein mit Ägypten und mit Assyrien, ein Segen inmitten der Erde;
25 Because of the blessing of the Lord of armies which he has given them, saying, A blessing on Egypt my people, and on Assyria the work of my hands, and on Israel my heritage.
denn Jehova der Heerscharen segnet es und spricht: Gesegnet sei mein Volk Ägypten, und Assyrien, meiner Hände Werk, und Israel, mein Erbteil!
