Deuteronomy 32
1 Give ear, O heavens, to my voice; let the earth take note of the words of my mouth:
Horchet, ihr Himmel, und ich will reden; und die Erde höre die Worte meines Mundes!
2 My teaching is dropping like rain, coming down like dew on the fields; like rain on the young grass and showers on the garden plants:
Es träufle wie Regen meine Lehre, es fließe wie Tau meine Rede, wie Regenschauer auf das Gras und wie Regengüsse auf das Kraut!
3 For I will give honour to the name of the Lord: let our God be named great.
Denn den Namen Jehovas will ich ausrufen: Gebet Majestät [W. Größe] unserem Gott!
4 He is the Rock, complete is his work; for all his ways are righteousness: a God without evil who keeps faith, true and upright is he.
Der Fels: Vollkommen ist sein Tun; denn alle seine Wege sind recht. Ein Gott [El] der Treue und sonder Trug, gerecht und gerade ist er!
5 They have become false, they are not his children, the mark of sin is on them; they are an evil and hard-hearted generation.
Es hat sich gegen ihn verderbt-nicht seiner Kinder ist ihr Schandfleck-ein verkehrtes und verdrehtes Geschlecht.
6 Is this your answer to the Lord, O foolish people and unwise? Is he not your father who has given you life? He has made you and given you your place.
Vergeltet ihr also Jehova, du törichtes und unweises Volk? Ist er nicht dein Vater, der dich erkauft [And.: geschaffen] hat? Er hat dich gemacht und dich bereitet.
7 Keep in mind the days of the past, give thought to the years of generations gone by: go to your father and he will make it clear to you, to the old men and they will give you the story.
Gedenke der Tage der Vorzeit, merket auf die Jahre von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht; frage deinen Vater, und er wird es dir kundtun, deine Ältesten, und sie werden es dir sagen.
8 When the Most High gave the nations their heritage, separating into groups the children of men, he had the limits of the peoples marked out, keeping in mind the number of the children of Israel.
Als der Höchste den Nationen das Erbe austeilte, als er voneinander schied die Menschenkinder, da stellte er fest die Grenzen der Völker nach der Zahl der Kinder Israel.
9 For the Lord's wealth is his people; Jacob is the land of his heritage.
Denn Jehovas Teil ist sein Volk, Jakob die Schnur seines Erbteils.
10 He came to him in the waste land, in the unpeopled waste of sand: putting his arms round him and caring for him, he kept him as the light of his eye.
Er fand ihn im Lande der Wüste und in der Öde, dem Geheul der Wildnis; er umgab ihn, gab acht auf ihn, er behütete ihn wie seinen Augapfel.
11 As an eagle, teaching her young to make their flight, with her wings outstretched over them, takes them up on her strong feathers:
Wie der Adler sein Nest aufstört, über seinen Jungen schwebt, seine Flügel ausbreitet, sie [Eig. es, d. h. das Nest] aufnimmt, sie trägt auf seinen Schwingen;
12 So the Lord only was his guide, no other god was with him.
So leitete ihn Jehova allein, [O. schwebt, breitete er seine Flügel aus, nahm ihn auf, trug ihn auf seinen Fittichen. Jehova allein leitete ihn] und kein fremder Gott [El] war mit ihm.
13 He put him on the high places of the earth, his food was the increase of the field; honey he gave him out of the rock and oil out of the hard rock;
Er ließ ihn einherfahren auf den Höhen der Erde, und er aß den Ertrag des Feldes; und er ließ ihn Honig saugen aus dem Felsen und Öl aus dem Kieselfelsen;
14 Butter from his cows and milk from his sheep, with fat of lambs and sheep of Bashan, and goats, and the heart of the grain; and for your drink, wine from the blood of the grape.
geronnene Milch der Kühe und Milch der Schafe, [Eig. des Kleinviehes] samt dem Fette der Mastschafe und Widder, der Söhne Basans, und der Böcke, samt dem Nierenfett des Weizens; und der Traube Blut trankest du, feurigen Wein.
15 But Jeshurun became fat and would not be controlled: you have become fat, you are thick and full of food: then he was untrue to the God who made him, giving no honour to the Rock of his salvation.
Da ward Jeschurun [der Gerade, Rechtschaffene] fett und schlug aus; du wurdest fett, dick, feist! Und er verließ [O. verwarf] Gott, [Eloah] der ihn gemacht hatte, und verachtete den Fels seiner Rettung.
16 The honour which was his they gave to strange gods; by their disgusting ways he was moved to wrath.
Sie reizten ihn zur Eifersucht durch fremde Götter, durch Greuel erbitterten sie ihn.
17 They made offerings to evil spirits which were not God, to gods who were strange to them, which had newly come up, not feared by your fathers.
Sie opferten den Dämonen, die Nicht-Gott [Eloah] sind, Göttern, die sie nicht kannten, neuen, die vor kurzem aufgekommen waren, die eure Väter nicht verehrten. [Eig. scheuten]
18 You have no thought for the Rock, your father, you have no memory of the God who gave you birth.
Den Felsen, der dich gezeugt, vernachlässigtest du, und vergaßest den Gott, [El] der dich geboren.
19 And the Lord saw with disgust the evil-doing of his sons and daughters.
Und Jehova sah es und verwarf sie, vor Unwillen über seine Söhne und seine Töchter.
20 And he said, My face will be veiled from them, I will see what their end will be: for they are an uncontrolled generation, children in whom is no faith.
Und er sprach: Ich will mein Angesicht vor ihnen verbergen, will sehen, was ihr Ende sein wird; denn ein Geschlecht voll Verkehrtheit sind sie, Kinder, in denen keine Treue ist.
21 They have given my honour to that which is not God, moving me to wrath with their false worship: I will give their honour to those who are not a people, moving them to wrath by a foolish nation,
Sie haben mich zur Eifersucht gereizt durch Nicht-Götter, [W. Nicht-Gott; [El]] haben mich erbittert durch ihre Nichtigkeiten; [O. Götzen] so will auch ich sie zur Eifersucht reizen durch ein Nicht-Volk, durch eine törichte Nation will ich sie erbittern.
22 For my wrath is a flaming fire, burning to the deep parts of the underworld, burning up the earth with her increase, and firing the deep roots of the mountains. (Sheol h7585)
Denn ein Feuer ist entbrannt in meinem Zorn und wird brennen bis in den untersten Scheol, und es wird verzehren die Erde und ihren Ertrag und entzünden die Grundfesten der Berge. (Sheol h7585)
23 I will send a rain of troubles on them, my arrows will be showered on them.
Ich werde Unglück über sie häufen, meine Pfeile wider sie verbrauchen.
24 They will be wasted from need of food, and overcome by burning heat and bitter destruction; and the teeth of beasts I will send on them, with the poison of the worms of the dust.
Vergehen sie vor Hunger, und sind sie aufgezehrt von Fieberglut [O. Seuche] und giftiger Pest, so werde ich den Zahn wilder Tiere gegen sie senden, samt dem Gifte der im Staube Schleichenden.
25 Outside they will be cut off by the sword, and in the inner rooms by fear; death will take the young man and the virgin, the baby at the breast and the grey-haired man.
Draußen wird das Schwert rauben, und in den Gemächern der Schrecken: den Jüngling wie die Jungfrau, den Säugling mit dem greisen Manne.
26 I said I would send them wandering far away, I would make all memory of them go from the minds of men:
Ich hätte gesagt: Ich will sie zerstreuen, ihrem Gedächtnis unter den Menschen ein Ende machen!
27 But for the fear that their haters, uplifted in their pride, might say, Our hand is strong, the Lord has not done all this.
Wenn ich die Kränkung von seiten des Feindes nicht fürchtete, daß ihre Widersacher es verkännten, daß sie sprächen: Unsere Hand war erhaben, und nicht Jehova hat dies alles getan!
28 For they are a nation without wisdom; there is no sense in them.
Denn sie sind eine Nation, die allen Rat verloren hat; und kein Verständnis ist in ihnen.
29 If only they were wise, if only this was clear to them, and they would give thought to their future!
Wenn sie weise wären, so würden sie dieses verstehen, ihr Ende bedenken.
30 How would it be possible for one to overcome a thousand, and two to send ten thousand in flight, if their rock had not let them go, if the Lord had not given them up?
Wie könnte einer Tausend jagen, und zwei Zehntausend in die Flucht treiben, wäre es nicht, daß ihr Fels sie verkauft und Jehova sie preisgegeben hätte?
31 For their rock is not like our Rock, even our haters themselves being judges.
Denn nicht wie unser Fels ist ihr Fels: dessen sind unsere Feinde selbst Richter!
32 For their vine is the vine of Sodom, from the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are the grapes of evil, and the berries are bitter:
Denn von dem Weinstock Sodoms ist ihr Weinstock und von den Fluren Gomorras; ihre Beeren sind Giftbeeren, bitter sind ihre Trauben.
33 Their wine is the poison of dragons, the cruel poison of snakes.
Gift der Drachen [O. Schlangen] ist ihr Wein und grausames Gift der Nattern.
34 Is not this among my secrets, kept safe in my store-house?
Ist dieses nicht bei mir verborgen, versiegelt in meinen Schatzkammern?
35 Punishment is mine and reward, at the time of the slipping of their feet: for the day of their downfall is near, sudden will be their fate.
Mein ist die Rache und die Vergeltung für die Zeit, da ihr Fuß wanken wird; denn nahe ist der Tag ihres Verderbens, und was ihnen bevorsteht, eilt herbei.
36 For the Lord will be judge of his people, he will have pity for his servants; when he sees that their power is gone, there is no one, shut up or free.
Denn Jehova wird sein Volk richten, [O. seinem Volke Recht verschaffen] und er wird sichs gereuen lassen [O. sich erbarmen. Vergl. Ps. 135,14] über seine Knechte, wenn er sehen wird, daß geschwunden die Kraft, und der Gebundene und der Freie dahin ist.
37 And he will say, Where are their gods, the rock in which they put their faith?
Und er wird sagen: Wo sind ihre Götter, der Fels, auf den sie vertrauten,
38 Who took the fat of their offerings, and the wine of their drink offering? Let them now come to your help, let them be your salvation.
welche das Fett ihrer Schlachtopfer aßen, den Wein ihrer Trankopfer tranken? Sie mögen aufstehen und euch helfen, mögen ein Schirm über euch sein!
39 See now, I myself am he; there is no other god but me: giver of death and life, wounding and making well: and no one has power to make you free from my hand.
Sehet nun, daß ich, ich bin, der da ist, [W. daß ich, ich bin er, derselbe. Dieser Ausdruck wird zu einem Namen Gottes; Vergl. Neh. 9,6; Ps. 102,27 usw.] und kein Gott neben mir! Ich töte, und ich mache lebendig, ich zerschlage, und ich heile; und niemand ist, der aus meiner Hand errettet!
40 For lifting up my hand to heaven I say, By my unending life,
Denn ich erhebe zum Himmel meine Hand und spreche: Ich lebe ewiglich! [O. So wahr ich ewiglich lebe!]
41 If I make sharp my shining sword, and my hand is outstretched for judging, I will give punishment to those who are against me, and their right reward to my haters.
Wenn ich mein blitzendes Schwert [W. den Blitz meines Schwertes] geschärft habe und meine Hand zum Gericht greift, so werde ich Rache erstatten meinen Feinden und Vergeltung geben meinen Hassern.
42 I will make my arrows red with blood, my sword will be feasting on flesh, with the blood of the dead and the prisoners, of the long-haired heads of my haters.
Meine Pfeile werde ich berauschen mit Blut, und mein Schwert wird Fleisch fressen-mit dem Blute der Erschlagenen und Gefangenen-von dem Haupte der Fürsten des Feindes. [And. üb.: vom behaarten Haupte des Feindes]
43 Be glad, O you his people, over the nations; for he will take payment for the blood of his servants, and will give punishment to his haters, and take away the sin of his land, for his people.
Jubelt, ihr Nationen, mit seinem Volke [O. Jubelt seinem Volke zu. Eig. Bejubelt sein Volk!] denn er wird rächen das Blut seiner Knechte und wird Rache erstatten seinen Feinden, und seinem Lande, seinem Volke, vergeben. -
44 So Moses said all the words of this song in the hearing of the people, he and Hoshea, the son of Nun.
Und Mose kam und redete alle Worte dieses Liedes vor den Ohren des Volkes, er und Hosea, [Vergl. 4. Mose 13,16] der Sohn Nuns.
45 And after saying all this to the people,
Und als Mose alle diese Worte zu dem ganzen Israel ausgeredet hatte, da sprach er zu ihnen:
46 Moses said to them, Let the words which I have said to you today go deep into your hearts, and give orders to your children to do every word of this law.
Richtet euer Herz auf alle die Worte, die ich euch heute bezeuge, damit ihr sie euren Kindern befehlet, daß sie darauf achten, alle Worte dieses Gesetzes zu tun.
47 And this is no small thing for you, but it is your life, and through this you may make your days long in the land which you are going over Jordan to take for your heritage.
Denn es ist nicht ein leeres Wort für euch, sondern es ist euer Leben; und durch dieses Wort werdet ihr eure Tage verlängern in dem Lande, wohin ihr über den Jordan ziehet, um es in Besitz zu nehmen.
48 That same day the Lord said to Moses,
Und Jehova redete zu Mose an diesem selbigen Tage und sprach:
49 Go up into this mountain of Abarim, to Mount Nebo in the land of Moab opposite Jericho; there you may see the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the children of Israel for their heritage:
Steige auf dieses Gebirge Abarim, den Berg Nebo, der im Lande Moab liegt, der Jericho gegenüber ist, und sieh das Land Kanaan, das ich den Kindern Israel zum Eigentum gebe;
50 And let death come to you on the mountain where you are going, and be put to rest with your people; as death came to Aaron, your brother, on Mount Hor, where he was put to rest with his people:
und du wirst sterben auf dem Berge, auf welchen du steigen wirst, und zu deinen Völkern versammelt werden; gleichwie dein Bruder Aaron auf dem Berge Hor gestorben ist und zu seinen Völkern versammelt wurde;
51 Because of your sin against me before the children of Israel at the waters of Meribath Kadesh in the waste land of Zin; because you did not keep my name holy among the children of Israel.
darum daß ihr treulos gegen mich gehandelt habt inmitten der Kinder Israel an dem Wasser von Meriba-Kades [O. an dem Haderwasser von Kades] in der Wüste Zin, darum daß ihr mich nicht geheiligt habt inmitten der Kinder Israel.
52 So you will see the land before you, but you will not go into the land which I am giving to the children of Israel.
Denn vor dir sollst du das Land sehen, aber du sollst nicht in das Land hineinkommen, das ich den Kindern Israel gebe.
