2 Kings 25
1 Now in the ninth year of his rule, on the tenth day of the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, came against Jerusalem with all his army and took up his position before it, building earthworks all round the town.
Il arriva donc la neuvième année du règne de Sédécias, le dixième jour du dixième mois, que Nébucadnetsar Roi de Babylone vint avec toute son armée contre Jérusalem, et se campa contr'elle, et ils bâtirent des forts tout autour.
2 And the town was shut in by their forces till the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.
Et la ville fut assiégée jusqu'à la onzième année du Roi Sédécias.
3 Now on the ninth day of the fourth month, the store of food in the town was almost gone, so that there was no food for the people of the land.
Et le neuvième jour du [quatrième] mois la famine augmenta dans la ville, de sorte qu'il n'y avait point de pain pour le peuple du pays.
4 So an opening was made in the wall of the town, and all the men of war went in flight by night through the doorway between the two walls which was by the king's garden; (now the Chaldaeans were stationed round the town: ) and the king went by the way of the Arabah.
Alors la brèche fut faite à la ville, et tous les gens de guerre [s'enfuirent] de nuit par le chemin de la porte entre les deux murailles qui [étaient] près du jardin du Roi (or les Caldéens [étaient tout] joignant la ville à l'environ) et le Roi s'en alla par le chemin de la campagne.
5 But the Chaldaean army went after the king, and overtook him in the lowlands of Jericho, and all his army went in flight from him in every direction.
Mais l'armée des Caldéens poursuivit le Roi, et quand ils l'eurent atteint dans les campagnes de Jérico, toute son armée se dispersa d'auprès de lui.
6 And they made the king a prisoner and took him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah to be judged.
Ils prirent donc le Roi, et le firent monter vers le Roi de Babylone à Ribla; où on lui fit son procès.
7 And they put the sons of Zedekiah to death before his eyes, and then they put out his eyes, and chaining him with iron bands, took him to Babylon.
Et on égorgea les fils de Sédécias en sa présence; après quoi on creva les yeux à Sédécias, et l'ayant lié de doubles chaînes d'airain, on le mena à Babylone.
8 Now in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, in the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, a servant of the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem;
Et au septième [jour] du cinquième mois, en la dix-neuvième année du Roi Nébucadnetsar, Roi de Babylone, Nébuzar-adan prévôt de l'hôtel, serviteur du Roi de Babylone, entra dans Jérusalem;
9 And he had the house of the Lord and the king's house and all the houses of Jerusalem, even every great house, burned with fire;
Et il brûla la maison de l'Eternel, et la maison Royale, et toutes les maisons de Jérusalem, et mit le feu dans toutes les maisons des Grands.
10 And the walls round Jerusalem were broken down by the Chaldaean army which was with the captain.
Et toute l'armée des Caldéens, qui [était] avec le prévôt de l'hôtel, démolit les murailles de Jérusalem tout autour.
11 And the rest of the people who were still in the town, and all those who had given themselves up to the king of Babylon, and all the rest of the workmen, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, took away as prisoners;
Et Nébuzar-adan prévôt de l'hôtel transporta [à Babylone] le reste du peuple, [savoir] ceux qui étaient demeurés de reste dans la ville, et ceux qui s'étaient allés rendre au Roi de Babylone, et le reste de la multitude.
12 But he let the poorest of the land go on living there, to take care of the vines and the fields.
Néanmoins le prévôt de l'hôtel laissa quelques-uns des plus pauvres du pays pour [être] vignerons et laboureurs.
13 And the brass pillars in the house of the Lord, and the wheeled bases, and the great brass water-vessel in the house of the Lord, were broken up by the Chaldaeans, who took the brass to Babylon.
Et les Caldéens mirent en pièces les colonnes d'airain qui [étaient] dans la maison de l'Eternel, et les soubassements, et la mer d'airain qui [était] dans la maison de l'Eternel, et ils en emportèrent l'airain à Babylone.
14 And the pots and the spades and the scissors for the lights and the spoons, and all the brass vessels used in the Lord's house, they took away.
Ils emportèrent aussi les chaudrons, et les racloirs, et les serpes, et les tasses, et tous les ustensiles d'airain dont on faisait le service.
15 And the fire-trays and the basins; the gold of the gold vessels and the silver of the silver vessels, were all taken away by the captain of the armed men.
Le prévôt de l'hôtel emporta aussi les encensoirs et les bassins; et ce qui était d'or, et ce qui était d'argent.
16 The two pillars, the great water-vessel and the wheeled bases, which Solomon had made for the house of the Lord: the brass of all these vessels was without weight.
Quant aux deux colonnes, à la mer, et aux soubassements que Salomon avait faits pour la maison de l'Eternel, on ne pesa point l'airain de tous ces vaisseaux.
17 One of the pillars was eighteen cubits high, with a crown of brass on it; the crown was three cubits high, circled with a network and apples all of brass; and the second pillar had the same.
Chaque colonne avait dix-huit coudées de haut, et elle avait un chapiteau d'airain par dessus, dont la hauteur était de trois coudées, outre le rets et les grenades qui étaient autour du chapiteau, le tout d'airain; et la seconde colonne était de même façon, avec le rets.
18 And the captain of the armed men took Seraiah, the chief priest, and Zephaniah, the second priest, and the three door-keepers;
Le prévôt de l'hôtel emmena aussi Séraja premier Sacrificateur, et Sophonie second Sacrificateur, et les trois gardes des vaisseaux.
19 And from the town he took the unsexed servant who was over the men of war, and five of the king's near friends who were in the town, and the scribe of the captain of the army, who was responsible for getting the people of the land together in military order, and sixty men of the people of the land who were in the town.
Il emmena aussi de la ville un Eunuque qui avait la charge des hommes de guerre, et cinq hommes de ceux qui voyaient la face du Roi, lesquels furent trouvés dans la ville. [Il emmena] aussi le Secrétaire du Capitaine de l'armée qui enrôlait le peuple du pays, et soixante hommes d'entre le peuple du pays, qui furent trouvés dans la ville.
20 These Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, took with him to the king of Babylon at Riblah.
Nébuzar-adan donc prévôt de l'hôtel les prit, et les mena au Roi de Babylone à Ribla.
21 And the king of Babylon put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was taken away prisoner from his land.
Et le Roi de Babylone les frappa, et les fit mourir à Ribla, au pays de Hamath; ainsi Juda fut transporté hors de sa terre.
22 As for the people who were still living in the land of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, did not take away, he made Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, ruler over them.
Mais quant au peuple qui était demeuré de reste au pays de Juda, [et] que Nébucadnetsar Roi de Babylone y avait laissé, il établit pour Gouverneur sur eux Guédalia fils d'Ahikam, fils de Saphan.
23 Now the captains of the armed forces, hearing that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah ruler, came with their men to Gedaliah at Mizpah; Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan, the son of Kareah, and Seraiah, the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah, the son of the Maacathite, came with all their men.
Quand tous les Capitaines des gens de guerre, et leurs gens, eurent appris que le Roi de Babylone avait établi Guédalia pour Gouverneur, ils allèrent trouver Guédalia à Mitspa, [savoir]Ismaël fils de Néthania, et Johanan fils de Karéath, et Séraja fils de Tanhumeth Nétophathite, Jaazania fils d'un Mahachathite, eux et leurs gens.
24 Then Gedaliah gave his oath to them and their men, saying, Have no fear because of the servants of the Chaldaeans; go on living in the land under the rule of the king of Babylon, and all will be well.
Et Guédalia leur jura et à leurs gens, et leur dit: Ne faites pas difficulté d'être serviteurs des Caldéens; demeurez au pays, et servez le Roi de Babylone, et vous vous en trouverez bien.
25 But in the seventh month, Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the king's seed, came with ten men and made an attack on Gedaliah, causing his death and the death of the Jews and the Chaldaeans who were with him at Mizpah.
Mais il arriva au septième mois, qu'Ismaël fils de Néthania, fils d'Elisamah, qui était du sang Royal, et dix hommes avec lui vinrent, et frappèrent Guédalia, dont il mourut. [Ils frappèrent] aussi les Juifs et les Caldéens qui étaient avec lui à Mitspa.
26 Then all the people, small and great, and the captains of the forces, got up and went away to Egypt, for fear of the Chaldaeans.
Et tout le peuple depuis le plus petit jusqu'au plus grand, avec les capitaines des gens de guerre, se levèrent, et s'en allèrent en Egypte, parce qu'ils avaient peur des Caldéens.
27 And in the thirty-seventh year after Jehoiachin, king of Judah, had been taken prisoner, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, Evil-merodach, king of Babylon, in the first year of his rule, took Jehoiachin, king of Judah, out of prison;
Or il arriva la trente-septième année de la captivité de Jéhojachin Roi de Juda, le vingt-septième jour du douzième mois, qu'Evilmérodac, Roi de Babylone, l'année qu'il commença à régner, tira hors de prison Jéhojachin Roi de Juda, et le mit en liberté.
28 And said kind words to him, and put his seat higher than the seats of the other kings who were with him in Babylon.
Et il lui parla avec douceur, et mit son trône au dessus du trône des Rois qui étaient avec lui à Babylone.
29 And his prison clothing was changed, and he was a guest at the king's table every day for the rest of his life.
Et après qu'il lui eut changé ses vêtements de prison, il mangea du pain ordinairement tout le temps de sa vie en sa présence.
30 And for his food, the king gave him a regular amount every day for the rest of his life.
Et quant à son ordinaire, un ordinaire continuel lui fut établi par le Roi chaque jour, tout le temps de sa vie.
