2 Chronicles 2

1 Now it was Solomon's purpose to put up a house for the name of the Lord and a house for himself as king.

E determinou Salomão edificar uma casa ao nome do Senhor, como tambem uma casa para o seu reino.

2 And Solomon had seventy thousand men numbered for transport, and eighty thousand for cutting stone in the mountains, and three thousand, six hundred as overseers.

E contou Salomão setenta mil homens de carga, e oitenta mil, que cortassem na montanha: e tres mil e seiscentos inspectores sobre elles.

3 And Solomon sent to Huram, king of Tyre, saying, As you did for my father David, sending him cedar-trees for the building of his house,

E Salomão enviou a Hurão, rei de Tyro, dizendo: Como usaste com David meu pae, e lhe mandaste cedros, para edificar-se uma casa em que morasse, assim tambem usa comigo.

4 See! I am building a house for the name of the Lord my God, to be made holy to him, where perfumes of sweet spices will be burned before him, and the holy bread will be placed at all times, and burned offerings will be offered morning and evening, on the Sabbaths and at the new moons, and on the regular feasts of the Lord our God. This is a law for ever to Israel.

Eis-que estou para edificar uma casa ao nome do Senhor meu Deus, para lhe consagrar, para queimar perante elle incenso aromatico, e para o pão continuo da proposição, e para os holocaustos da manhã e da tarde, para os sabbados, e para as luas novas, e para as festividades do Senhor nosso Deus: o que é perpetuamente a obrigação d'Israel.

5 And the house which I am building is to be great, for our God is greater than all gods.

E a casa que estou para edificar ha de ser grande; porque o nosso Deus é maior do que todos os deuses.

6 But who may have strength enough to make a house for him, seeing that the heaven and the heaven of heavens are not wide enough to be his resting-place? who am I then to make a house for him? But I am building it only for the burning of perfume before him.

Porém quem teria a força, para lhe edificar uma casa? visto que os céus e até os céus dos céus o não podem conter: e quem sou eu, que lhe edificasse casa, salvo para queimar incenso perante elle?

7 So now send me an expert worker in gold and silver and brass and iron? in purple and red and blue, and in the cutting of all sorts of ornament, to be with the expert workmen who are here in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom my father David got together.

Manda-me pois agora um homem sabio para obrar em oiro, e em prata, e em bronze, e em ferro, e em purpura, e em carmezim, e em azul; e que saiba lavrar ao buril, juntamente com os sabios que estão comigo em Judah e em Jerusalem, os quaes David meu pae preparou.

8 And send me cedar-trees, cypress-trees and sandal-wood from Lebanon, for, to my knowledge, your servants are expert wood-cutters in Lebanon; and my servants will be with yours,

Manda-me tambem madeira de cedros, faias, e algums do Libano; porque bem sei eu que os teus servos sabem cortar madeira no Libano; e eis-que os meus servos estarão com os teus servos.

9 To get trees for me in great numbers, for the house which I am building is to be great and a wonder.

E isso para prepararem muita madeira; porque a casa que estou para fazer ha de ser grande e maravilhosa.

10 And I will give as food to your servants, the wood-cutters, twenty thousand measures of grain, and twenty thousand measures of barley and twenty thousand measures of wine and twenty thousand measures of oil.

E eis-que a teus servos, os cortadores, que cortarem a madeira, darei vinte mil coros de trigo malhado, e vinte mil coros de cevada, e vinte mil batos de vinho, e vinte mil batos d'azeite.

11 Then Huram, king of Tyre, sent Solomon an answer in writing, saying, Because of his love for his people the Lord has made you king over them.

E Hurão, rei de Tyro, respondeu por escripto, e enviou a Salomão, dizendo: Porquanto o Senhor ama o seu povo, te poz sobre elle rei.

12 And Huram said, Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, maker of heaven and earth, who has given to David the king a wise son, full of wisdom and good sense, to be the builder of a house for the Lord and a house for himself as king.

Disse mais Hurão; Bemdito seja o Senhor Deus d'Israel, que fez os céus e a terra; o que deu ao rei David um filho sabio, de grande prudencia e entendimento, que edifique casa ao Senhor, e para o seu reino.

13 And now I am sending you a wise and expert man, Huram who is as my father,

Agora pois envio um homem sabio de grande entendimento, a saber Hurão Abihu,

14 The son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, whose father was a man of Tyre, an expert worker in gold and silver and brass and iron, in stone and wood, in purple and blue and fair linen and red, trained in the cutting of every sort of ornament and the invention of every sort of design; let him be given a place among your expert workmen and those of my lord, your father David.

Filho d'uma mulher das filhas de Dan, e cujo pae foi homem de Tyro; este sabe lavrar em oiro, e em prata, em bronze, em ferro, em pedras e em madeira, em purpura, em azul, e em linho fino, e em carmezim, e é capaz para toda a obra do buril, e para todas as engenhosas invenções, qualquer coisa que se lhe propuzer, juntamente com os teus sabios, e os sabios de David, meu senhor, teu pae.

15 So now let my lord send to his servants the grain and the oil and the wine as my lord has said;

Agora pois, meu senhor, mande para os seus servos o trigo, e a cevada, e o azeite, e o vinho, de que fallou.

16 And we will have wood cut from Lebanon, as much as you have need of, and will send it to you on flat boats by sea to Joppa, and from there you may take it up to Jerusalem.

E nós cortaremos tanta madeira no Libano, quanta houveres mister, e t'a traremos em jangadas pelo mar a Japho, e tu a farás subir a Jerusalem.

17 Then Solomon took the number of all the men from strange lands who were living in Israel, as his father David had done; there were a hundred and fifty-three thousand, six hundred.

E Salomão contou a todos os homens estranhos, que havia na terra d'Israel, conforme a conta com que os contara David seu pae: e acharam-se cento e cincoenta e tres mil e seiscentos.

18 Seventy thousand he put to the work of transport, eighty thousand to cutting stone in the mountains, and three thousand, six hundred as overseers to put the people to work.

E fez d'elles setenta mil carreteiros, e oitenta mil cortadores na montanha: como tambem tres mil e seiscentos inspectores, para fazerem trabalhar o povo.
