Luke 5
1 On one occasion, while Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret with the crowd pressing in on Him to hear the word of God,
Y aconteció, que estando él junto al lago de Genesaret, la multitud se derribaba sobre él por oír la palabra de Dios.
2 He saw two boats at the edge of the lake. The fishermen had left them and were washing their nets.
Y vio dos naves que estaban cerca de la orilla del lago; y los pescadores, habiendo descendido de ellas, lavaban sus redes.
3 Jesus got into the boat belonging to Simon and asked him to put out a little from shore. And sitting down, He taught the people from the boat.
Y entrado en una de estas naves, la cual era de Simón, le rogó que la desviase de tierra un poco; y sentándose, enseñaba desde la nave al pueblo.
4 When Jesus had finished speaking, He said to Simon, “Put out into deep water and let down your nets for a catch.”
Y como cesó de hablar, dijo a Simón: Entra en alta mar, y echád vuestras redes para pescar.
5 “Master,” Simon replied, “we have worked hard all night without catching anything. But because You say so, I will let down the nets.”
Y respondiendo Simón, le dijo: Maestro, habiendo trabajado toda la noche, nada hemos tomado; mas en tu palabra echaré la red.
6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to tear.
Y habiéndolo hecho, encerraron tan gran multitud de peces, que su red se rompía.
7 So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
E hicieron señas a los compañeros que estaban en la otra nave, que viniesen a ayudarles; y vinieron, y llenaron ambas naves de tal manera que se anegaban.
8 When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees. “Go away from me, Lord,” he said, “for I am a sinful man.”
Lo cual viendo Simón Pedro, se derribó a las rodillas de Jesús, diciendo: Sálte de conmigo, Señor, porque soy hombre pecador.
9 For he and his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken,
Porque temor le había rodeado, y a todos los que estaban con él, a causa de la presa de los peces que habían tomado:
10 and so were his partners James and John, the sons of Zebedee. “Do not be afraid,” Jesus said to Simon. “From now on you will catch men.”
Y asimismo a Santiago y a Juan, hijos de Zebedeo, que eran compañeros de Simón. Y Jesús dijo a Simón: No temas: desde ahora tomarás hombres.
11 And when they had brought their boats ashore, they left everything and followed Him.
Y como llegaron a tierra las naves, dejándolo todo, le siguieron.
12 While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell facedown and begged Him, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”
Y aconteció que estando en una ciudad, he aquí, un hombre lleno de lepra, el cual viendo a Jesús, postrándose sobre el rostro le rogó, diciendo: Señor, si quisieres, puedes limpiarme.
13 Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” He said. “Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him.
Entonces extendiendo la mano le tocó, diciendo: Quiero: sé limpio. Y luego la lepra se fue de él.
14 “Do not tell anyone,” Jesus instructed him. “But go, show yourself to the priest and present the offering Moses prescribed for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.”
Y él le mandó que no lo dijese a nadie: Mas vé ( le dice, ) muéstrate al sacerdote, y ofrece por tu limpieza, como mandó Moisés, por testimonio a ellos.
15 But the news about Jesus spread all the more, and great crowds came to hear Him and to be healed of their sicknesses.
Empero el hablar de él andaba tanto más; y se juntaban grandes multitudes a oír, y ser sanados por él de sus enfermedades.
16 Yet He frequently withdrew to the wilderness to pray.
Mas él se apartaba a los desiertos, y oraba.
17 One day Jesus was teaching, and the Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there. People had come from Jerusalem and from every village of Galilee and Judea, and the power of the Lord was present for Him to heal the sick.
Y aconteció un día, que él estaba enseñando, y Fariseos y doctores de la ley estaban sentados, los cuales habían venido de todas las aldeas de Galilea, y de Judea, y de Jerusalem; y la virtud del Señor estaba allí para sanarlos.
18 Just then some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat. They tried to bring him inside to set him before Jesus,
Y, he aquí, unos hombres, que traían en una cama un hombre que estaba paralítico; y buscaban por donde meterle, y poner le delante de él.
19 but they could not find a way through the crowd. So they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus.
Y no hallando por donde meterle a causa de la multitud, subieron encima de la casa, y por el tejado le bajaron con la cama en medio, delante de Jesús.
20 When Jesus saw their faith, He said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.”
El cual, viendo la fe de ellos, le dice: Hombre, tus pecados te son perdonados.
21 But the scribes and Pharisees began thinking to themselves, “Who is this man who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
Entonces los escribas y los Fariseos comenzaron a pensar, diciendo: ¿Quién es éste que habla blasfemias? ¿Quién puede perdonar pecados, sino solo Dios?
22 Knowing what they were thinking, Jesus replied, “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?
Jesús entonces, conociendo los pensamientos de ellos, respondiendo les dijo: ¿Qué pensáis en vuestros corazones?
23 Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk?’
¿Cuál es más fácil; decir: Tus pecados te son perdonados; o decir: Levántate, y anda?
24 But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on the earth to forgive sins...” He said to the paralytic, “I tell you, get up, pick up your mat, and go home.”
Pues porque sepáis que el Hijo del hombre tiene potestad en la tierra de perdonar pecados, (dice al paralítico: ) A ti digo: Levántate, toma tu cama; y vete a tu casa.
25 And immediately the man stood up before them, took what he had been lying on, and went home glorifying God.
Y luego, él, levantándose en presencia de ellos, y tomando aquello en que estaba echado, se fue a su casa glorificando a Dios.
26 Everyone was taken with amazement and glorified God. They were filled with awe and said, “We have seen remarkable things today.”
Y tomó espanto a todos, y glorificaban a Dios; y fueron llenos de temor, diciendo: Hemos visto maravillas hoy.
27 After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the tax booth. “Follow Me,” He told him,
Y después de estas cosas salió; y vio a un publicano llamado Leví, sentado al banco de los tributos, y le dijo: Sígueme.
28 and Levi got up, left everything, and followed Him.
Y dejadas todas cosas, levantándose, le siguió.
29 Then Levi hosted a great banquet for Jesus at his house. A large crowd of tax collectors was there, along with others who were eating with them.
E hizo Leví un gran banquete en su casa, y había mucha compañía de publicanos, y de otros, los cuales estaban a la mesa con ellos.
30 But the Pharisees and their scribes complained to Jesus’ disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”
Y los escribas y los Fariseos murmuraban contra sus discípulos, diciendo: ¿Por qué coméis y bebéis con los publicanos y pecadores?
31 Jesus answered, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.
Y respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Los que están sanos no han menester médico, sino los que están enfermos.
32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
No he venido a llamar a los justos, sino a los pecadores a arrepentimiento.
33 Then they said to Him, “John’s disciples and those of the Pharisees frequently fast and pray, but Yours keep on eating and drinking.”
Entonces ellos le dijeron: ¿Por qué los discípulos de Juan ayunan muchas veces, y hacen oraciones, y asimismo los de los Fariseos; mas tus discípulos comen y beben?
34 Jesus replied, “Can you make the guests of the bridegroom fast while He is with them?
Y él les dijo: ¿Podéis hacer que los que están de bodas ayunen, entre tanto que el esposo está con ellos?
35 But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast.”
Empero vendrán días cuando el esposo les será quitado; entonces ayunarán en aquellos días.
36 He also told them a parable: “No one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and sews it on an old one. If he does, he will tear the new garment as well, and the patch from the new will not match the old.
Y les decía también una parábola: Nadie pone remiendo de paño nuevo en vestido viejo: de otra manera el nuevo rompe, y al viejo no conviene remiendo nuevo.
37 And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins, the wine will spill, and the wineskins will be ruined.
Y nadie echa vino nuevo en cueros viejos: de otra manera el vino nuevo romperá los cueros, y el vino se derramará, y los cueros se perderán.
38 Instead, new wine is poured into new wineskins.
Mas el vino nuevo en cueros nuevos se ha de echar; y lo uno y lo otro se conserva.
39 And no one after drinking old wine wants new, for he says, ‘The old is better.’”
Y ninguno que bebiere el viejo, quiere luego el nuevo; porque dice: El viejo es mejor.
