< Mark 5 >

1 And they came to the opposite side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.
Basebefika ngaphetsheya kolwandle, elizweni lamaGadarene.
2 And when he had come out of the ship, immediately there met him from the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
Esephumile emkhunjini, wahle wamhlangabeza umuntu ovela emangcwabeni elomoya ongcolileyo,
3 who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no one could keep him bound even with chains;
owayehlala emangcwabeni; njalo kwakungelamuntu owayengambopha ngitsho langamaketane,
4 because he had often been bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been pulled to pieces by him, and the fetters had been broken, and no one had strength to subdue him;
ngoba wayebotshiwe kanengi ngezibopho langamaketane, kodwa amaketane ayeqanyulwa nguye, lezibopho zaqanyuqanyulwa; njalo kwakungekho owayengamthambisa;
5 and always, night and day, he was in the tombs, and in the mountains, crying out, and cutting himself with stones.
langezikhathi zonke, ebusuku lemini, wayesezintabeni lemangcwabeni eklabalala ezisika ngamatshe.
6 And when he saw Jesus at a distance, he ran and did him homage;
Kwathi ebona uJesu ekhatshana, wagijima wamkhonza,
7 and crying out with a loud voice, he said: What have I to do with thee, Jesus, Son of God Most High? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.
wamemeza ngelizwi elikhulu esithi: Ngilani lawe, Jesu, Ndodana kaNkulunkulu oPhezukonke? Ngikufungisa ngoNkulunkulu, ungangihluphi.
8 For he had said to him: Unclean spirit, come out of the man.
Ngoba wathi kuye: Phuma emuntwini, moya ongcolileyo.
9 And he asked him: What is your name? And he said to him: My name is Legion; for we are many.
Wasembuza wathi: Ibizo lakho ungubani? Wasephendula, wathi: Ibizo lami nginguLegiyoni, ngoba sibanengi.
10 And he earnestly besought him that he would not send them out of the country.
Wasemncenga kakhulu, ukuthi angabaxotsheli ngaphandle kwelizwe.
11 Now a great herd of swine was feeding there near the mountain.
Kwakukhona lapho ngasezintabeni umhlambi omkhulu wengulube usidla;
12 And the demons besought him, saying: Send us to the swine, that we may enter into them.
lamadimoni wonke amncenga, athi: Sithume engulubeni, singene kuzo.
13 And Jesus immediately gave them leave. And the unclean spirits came out and entered into the swine; and the herd (they were about two thousand, ) rushed down a steep place into the sea, and were strangled in the sea.
Njalo uJesu wahle wawavumela. Omoya abangcolileyo basebephuma bangena ezingulubeni; umhlambi wasuphaphatheka eliweni usiya olwandle; njalo zazingaba zinkulungwane ezimbili; zaminzwa olwandle.
14 And those who fed them fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they came out to see what had been done;
Abazelusayo ingulube basebebaleka, bayabika emzini lemaphandleni. Basebephuma ukubona ukuthi kuyini okwenzakeleyo;
15 and they came to Jesus and saw the demoniac, who had had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
bafika kuJesu, bambona obengenwe ngamadimoni ehlezi egqokile eqondile, yena owayelelegiyoni; basebesesaba.
16 And those who had seen it told them how it had happened to the demoniac, and also concerning the swine.
Labo ababekubonile babatshela ukuthi kwenzeke njani kowayengenwe ngamadimoni, langengulube.
17 And they began to beseech him to depart from their borders.
Basebeqala ukumncenga ukuthi asuke elizweni lakibo.
18 And when he had entered the ship, he that had been possessed with the demons besought him that he might be with him.
Wathi engena emkhunjini, owayengenwe ngamadimoni wamncenga, ukuthi abe laye.
19 And he did not permit him, but said to him: Go home to your relatives, and make known to them what things the Lord has done for you, and that he has had compassion on you.
Kodwa uJesu kamvumelanga, kodwa wathi kuye: Hamba uye ekhaya kwabakini, ubatshele ukuthi iNkosi ikwenzele okungakanani, ikuhawukele.
20 And he went away and began to proclaim in Decapolis what things Jesus had done for him. And all were astonished.
Wasesuka ehamba waqala ukutshumayela eDikapolisi ukuthi uJesu umenzele okungakanani; basebemangala bonke.
21 And when Jesus had again gone over in the ship to the opposite side, a great multitude came together to him; and he was near the sea.
UJesu esebuye wachaphela ngaphetsheya ngomkhumbi, kwabuthana kuye ixuku elikhulu, futhi wayengaselwandle.
22 And behold, there came one of the rulers of the synagogue, named Jairus; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
Njalo khangela, kwafika omunye wabaphathi besinagoge, uJayirosi ngebizo; embona, wawa phansi enyaweni zakhe,
23 and besought him earnestly, saying: My little daughter is at the point of death; come, lay thy hands on her, that she may be saved, and she will live.
wamncenga kakhulu, esithi: Indodakazi yami encane isiphela; ake uze ubeke izandla phezu kwayo, ukuze isindiswe, njalo izaphila.
24 And he went with him; and a great multitude followed him, and pressed upon him.
Wasehamba laye; ixuku elikhulu laselimlandela, lamminyezela.
25 And a certain woman who had had an issue of blood for twelve years,
Njalo owesifazana othile owayelomopho wegazi okweminyaka elitshumi lambili,
26 and had suffered much from many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was in no way benefited, but rather grew worse,
ehluphekile kakhulu kubelaphi abanengi, echithile konke ayelakho, engasizakalanga, kodwa kulokhu kumqinela,
27 when she heard of Jesus, came behind him in the multitude, and touched his mantle;
esezwile ngoJesu, weza exukwini ngemuva, wathinta isembatho sakhe;
28 for she said: If I may even touch his clothes, I shall be saved.
ngoba wathi: Aluba ngithinta izembatho zakhe nje, ngizasindiswa.
29 And immediately the fountain of her blood dried up, and she knew in her body that she was cured of that plague.
Futhi wahle woma umthombo wegazi lakhe, wasesizwa emzimbeni ukuthi usilile esifweni.
30 And Jesus, immediately perceiving in himself that power had gone forth from him, turned around in the multitude and said: Who touched my clothes?
Njalo uJesu wahle wazi phakathi kwakhe ukuthi amandla aphumile kuye, watshibilika esexukwini, wathi: Ngubani othinte izembatho zami?
31 And his disciples said to him: Thou seest the multitude pressing upon thee, and dost thou say, Who touched me?
Abafundi bakhe basebesithi kuye: Uyabona ixuku likuminyezela, kodwa uthi: Ngubani ongithintileyo?
32 And he looked around to see her that had done this.
Wasethalaza ukuthi ambone owenze lokhu.
33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing; what had been done within her, came and fell down before him; and told him all the truth.
Kodwa owesifazana esesaba ethuthumela, ekwazi okwenzekileyo kuye, weza wawa phambi kwakhe, wamtshela iqiniso lonke.
34 And he said to her: Daughter, your faith has saved you; go in peace, and be cured of your plague.
Wasesithi kuye: Ndodakazi, ukholo lwakho lukusindisile; hamba ngokuthula, siliswa esifweni sakho.
35 While he was yet speaking, some came from the ruler of the synagogue, who said: Your daughter is dead; why give the Teacher further trouble?
Esakhuluma, kwafika abanye bomphathi wesinagoge, bathi: Indodakazi yakho isifile; usamkhathazelani uMfundisi?
36 But as soon as Jesus heard what was spoken, he said to the ruler of the synagogue: Fear not, only believe.
Kwahle kwathi uJesu esizwa ilizwi elikhulunywayo wathi kumphathi wesinagoge: Ungesabi, kholwa kuphela.
37 And he suffered no one to follow him, except Peter and James and John the brother of James.
Futhi kavumelanga muntu ukuthi amlandele, ngaphandle kukaPetro loJakobe loJohane umfowabo kaJakobe.
38 And he came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and saw the tumult, and those who were weeping and wailing greatly.
Wafika-ke endlini yomphathi wesinagoge, wabona isiphithiphithi, labakhalayo labalilayo kakhulu,
39 And he went in and said to them: Why do you make a tumult and weep? The child is not dead, but sleeps.
esengenile wathi kubo: Liphithizelelani, likhala? Umntwana kafanga, kodwa ulele.
40 And they derided him. But when he had put them all out, he took the father and mother of the child, and those who were with him, and went in where the child was lying.
Basebemhleka usulu. Kodwa yena, esebakhuphile bonke, wathatha uyise womntwana omncane lonina lalabo ababelaye, wangena lapho okwakulele khona umntwana omncane.
41 And he took the child by the hand, and said to her: Talitha kumi; which is, when translated, Maiden, (I say to you, ) arise.
Wabamba isandla somntwana omncane, wathi kuye: "Thalitha, kumi"; okuyikuthi ngokuphendulelwa: Wena ntombazana encane, ngithi kuwe, vuka.
42 And the maiden immediately arose and walked, for she was twelve years old. And they were greatly astonished.
Njalo yahle yavuka intombazana encane, yahamba, ngoba yayileminyaka elitshumi lambili; basebesanganiseka ngokusanganiseka okukhulu.
43 And he charged them strictly that no one should know this. And he commanded that something should be given her to eat.
Wasebalayisisa kakhulu ukuthi lokhu kungaziwa muntu; wathi kayinikwe ukudla.
