Luke 24
1 And on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the sepulcher, bringing the spices which they had prepared; and with them came certain others.
しかし，週の初めの日，明け方早く，彼女たちとほかの幾人かは，準備した香料を墓にやって来た。
2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulcher;
墓から石が転がしてあるのを見つけた。
3 and they entered in, but found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
中に入ると，主イエスの体が見つからなかった。
4 And it came to pass, while they were much perplexed at this, behold, two men stood by them in shining raiment.
このことで途方に暮れていると，見よ，二人の人がまばゆい衣を着て彼女たちに現われた。
5 And while they feared and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them: Why seek you among the dead for him that lives?
彼女たちはおびえて，地に顔を伏せた。 彼らは彼女たちに言った，「あなた方はなぜ，生きている者を死んだ者たちの間に探し求めるのか。
6 He is not here, but he has risen; remember that he spoke to you while he was yet in Galilee,
彼はここにはいない。起こされたのだ。彼がまだガリラヤにいた時にあなた方に告げたことを思い出しなさい。
7 saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
人の子は罪深い者たちの手に引き渡され，はりつけにされ，三日目に生き返らなければならない，と言ったではないか」。
8 And they remembered his words,
彼女たちは彼の言葉を思い出し，
9 and returned from the sepulcher, and told all these things to the eleven and to the rest.
墓から戻って来て，十一人と残りの全員に，これらのすべてのことを告げた。
10 It was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James, and the others with them, that told these things to the apostles.
ところで，その女たちは，マリア・マグダレネ，ヨハンナ，およびヤコブの母マリアであった。彼女たちと一緒にいたほかの女たちも，使徒たちにこれらのことを告げた。
11 And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.
これらの言葉は，彼らにはばかげたことのように思われたので，彼らは彼女たちのことを信じなかった。
12 But Peter arose and ran to the sepulcher, and stooping down, he saw the linen clothes lying by themselves; and he departed, wondering in himself at that which had come to pass.
しかし，ペトロは立ち上がり，墓に走って行った。身をかがめて中をのぞくと，亜麻布だけが置かれているのを見た。それで，起きたことを不思議に思いながら，家に帰って行った。
13 And, behold, two of them were going, on the same day, to a village called Emmaus, distant from Jerusalem sixty furlongs.
見よ，まさにその日，彼らのうちの二人が，エルサレムから六十スタディアのところにあるエマオという名の村へ向かっていた。
14 And they were talking to one another about all these things which had taken place.
起きたこれらのすべての事柄について，互いに語り合っていた。
15 And it came to pass, that, while they conversed and reasoned together, Jesus himself drew near, and went on with them.
彼らが語り，論じ合っていると，イエス自身が近づいて来て，彼らと一緒に歩き出した。
16 But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not recognize him.
しかし彼らの目は，彼を見分けられないでいた。
17 And he said to them: What matters are these which you are discussing with one another as you walk and are sad?
彼は彼らに言った，「あなた方が歩きながら語り合って，悲しんでいることは，いったい何ですか」 。
18 And one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answered and said to him: Are you only a stranger in Jerusalem, and have not known the things that have taken place there in these days?
彼らのうちの一人で，クレオパスという名の者が，彼に答えた，「あなたはエルサレムで一人だけ他国人で，このごろその中で起こったことを知らないのですか」。
19 And he said to them: What things? They said to him: The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and in word before God and all the people;
彼は彼らに言った，「どんなことですか」 。 彼らは彼に言った，「ナザレ人イエスに関することです。彼は，神と民すべての前で，業と言葉において強力な預言者でしたが，
20 and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him.
祭司長たちとわたしたちの支配者たちとは，彼を死の裁きに引き渡し，はりつけにしたのです。
21 But we trusted that it was he that was about to redeem Israel. And besides all this, to-day is the third day since these things were done.
ですが，わたしたちは，彼こそイスラエルを買い戻してくださる方だと期待していました。しかも，そればかりでなく，これらのことが起こってからもう三日になるのです。
22 And further, certain women of our company, who were early at the sepulcher, astonished us:
その上，わたしたちの仲間の女たちが，わたしたちを驚かせました。彼女たちは朝早く墓に着きましたが，
23 for they found not his body, and came and told that they had seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive.
彼の体が見つからずに戻って来て，み使いたちが彼は生きていると告げる幻まで見たと言うのです。
24 And some of those who were with us went to the sepulcher, and found it even as the women had said, but him they saw not.
わたしたちのうちの何人かが墓に行ってみると，まさに女たちが言ったとおりだと知りましたが，彼は見当たりませんでした」。
25 And he said to them: O inconsiderate, and slow of heart to believe all things that the prophets have spoken!
彼は彼らに言った，「愚かで，預言者たちが語ったすべてのことを信じるのに心の鈍い者たちよ！
26 Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
キリストはこれらの苦しみを受けて，自分の栄光に入って行くはずではなかったのか」 。
27 And beginning from Moses, and all the prophets, he explained to them, in all the Scriptures, the things concerning himself.
モーセとすべての預言者たちから始めて，聖書全体から，自分自身に関する事柄を彼らに説明した。
28 And they drew near the village to which they were going; and he made as if he would go further.
彼らは向かっていた村に近づいたが，彼はさらに進んで行く様子を見せた。
29 And they constrained him, saying: Remain with us, for it is near the evening, and the day has declined. And he went in to remain with them.
彼らは彼を促して言った，「わたしたちと一緒にお泊まりください。夕方になりかけていますし，日も傾きかけていますから」。 彼は彼らと一緒に泊まるために入って行った。
30 And it came to pass, while he reclined at table with them, that he took bread and blessed; and he broke, and gave it to them.
彼らと共に食卓に着いた時，彼はパンを取って感謝をささげた。それを裂いて彼らに与えた。
31 And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him, and he disappeared from them.
彼らの目は開かれ，それが彼だと分かった。すると，彼は彼らの面前から見えなくなった。
32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
彼らは互いに言った，「あの方が道を行きながらわたしたちに語っておられた時，またわたしたちに聖書を解き明かしておられた時，わたしたちの心はわたしたちの内で燃えていなかっただろうか」。
33 And they arose the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven, and those who were with them, assembled,
すぐに立ち上がって，エルサレムに戻ってみると，十一人および彼らと共にいる者たちが集まり合い，
34 and saying: The Lord has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon.
「主は確かに起こされて，シモンに現われたのだ！」と言っているのを見いだした。
35 And they told what had taken place on the way, and how he was made known to them in the breaking of bread.
二人は，道の途中で起こったことや，パンを裂いているときに彼だと分かった様子について詳しく話した。
36 And while they were speaking of these things, Jesus him self stood in the midst of them, and said to them: Peace be to you.
彼らがこれらのことを話していると，イエス自身が彼らの間に立ち，彼らに言った，「あなた方に平安があるように」 。
37 But they were terrified and frightened, and thought that they saw a spirit.
しかし彼らはおびえて恐れに満たされ，霊を見ているものと思った。
38 And he said to them: Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts?
彼は彼らに言った，「なぜあなた方は動転しているのか。あなた方の心に疑いが生じるのはどうしてか。
39 See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself; handle me and see; for a spirit has not flesh and bones, as you see me have.
わたしの両手と両足を見なさい。まさしくわたしだ。わたしに触り，また見なさい。霊にはあなた方がわたしに見るような肉や骨はないのだ」 。
40 And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet.
こう言ってから，彼らに自分の両手と両足を見せた。
41 And while they did not believe as yet for joy, and were astonished, he said to them: Have you any thing here to eat?
彼らが喜びのあまりまだ信じられず，不思議に思っていると，彼は彼らに言った，「あなた方は何か食べる物を持っているか」 。
42 And they gave him a piece of broiled fish, and of a honeycomb.
彼らは彼に，一切れの焼き魚と，幾つかのハチの巣を出した。
43 And he took it, and did eat before them.
彼はそれらを取って，彼らの前で食べた。
44 And he said to them: These are the words that I spoke to you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled that are written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
彼らに言った，「これは，わたしがまだあなた方と一緒にいた時，あなた方に告げたことなのだ。つまり，わたしについて，モーセの律法と預言者たちと詩編の中で書かれているすべての事柄は，必ず果たされるということだ」 。
45 Then he opened their mind, that they might understand the scriptures,
それから彼は彼らの知力を開き，彼らが聖書を理解できるようにした。
46 and he said to them: Thus it is written, and thus was it necessary that the Christ should suffer, and rise again from the dead the third day,
彼らに言った，「このように書いてあり，このようなことがキリストに要求されている。つまり，苦しみを受け，三日目に死んだ者たちの中から生き返り，
47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
そして，悔い改めと罪の許しが，エルサレムから始まって，彼の名においてあらゆる民族に宣教されることだ。
48 You are witnesses of these things.
あなた方はこれらのことの証人だ。
49 And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you. But do you remain in the city of Jerusalem, till you be clothed with power from on high.
見よ，わたしはあなた方の上に，わたしの父が約束されたものを送り出す。だが，高い所からの力に包まれるまでは，エルサレムの都に待機していなさい」 。
50 And he led them out as far as Bethany; and he lifted up his hands and blessed them.
彼らをベタニアまで連れて行き，両手を上げて彼らを祝福した。
51 And it came to pass, that as he blessed them, he was separated from them, and carried up into heaven.
彼らを祝福している間に，彼らから離れて行き，天に運び上げられた。
52 And they worshiped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy;
彼らは彼を拝み，大きな喜びをもってエルサレムに戻って行き，
53 and were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God.
絶えず神殿にいて，神を賛美していた。アーメン。
