Proverbs 9
1 Wisdom hath builded her house; She hath hewn out her seven pillars:
A Sabedoria já edificou a sua casa, já lavrou as suas sete columnas.
2 She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; She hath also furnished her table:
Já sacrificou as suas victimas, misturou o seu vinho: e já preparou a sua mesa.
3 She hath sent forth her maidens; She crieth upon the highest places of the city:
Já mandou as suas creadas, já anda convidando desde as alturas da cidade, dizendo:
4 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: As for him that is void of understanding, she saith to him,
Quem é simples, volte-se para aqui. Aos faltos d'entendimento diz:
5 Come, eat ye of my bread, And drink of the wine which I have mingled.
Vinde, comei do meu pão, e bebei do vinho que tenho misturado.
6 Leave off, ye simple ones, and live; And walk in the way of understanding.
Deixae a parvoice, e vivei; e andae pelo caminho do entendimento.
7 He that correcteth a scoffer getteth to himself reviling; And he that reproveth a wicked man [getteth] himself a blot.
O que reprehende ao escarnecedor, affronta toma para si; e o que redargue ao impio, pega-se-lhe a sua mancha.
8 Reprove not a scoffer, lest he hate thee: Reprove a wise man, and he will love thee.
Não reprehendas ao escarnecedor, para que te não aborreça: reprehende ao sabio, e amar-te-ha.
9 Give [instruction] to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: Teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.
Dá ao sabio, e elle se fará mais sabio: ensina ao justo, e se augmentará em doutrina.
10 The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom; And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
O temor do Senhor é o principio da sabedoria, e a sciencia do Sancto a prudencia.
11 For by me thy days shall be multiplied, And the years of thy life shall be increased.
Porque por mim se multiplicam os teus dias, e annos de vida se te augmentarão.
12 If thou art wise, thou art wise for thyself; And if thou scoffest, thou alone shalt bear it.
Se fores sabio, para ti sabio serás; e, se fores escarnecedor, tu só o supportarás.
13 The foolish woman is clamorous; [She is] simple, and knoweth nothing.
A mulher louca é alvoroçadora, é simples, e não sabe coisa nenhuma.
14 And she sitteth at the door of her house, On a seat in the high places of the city,
E assenta-se á porta da sua casa sobre uma cadeira, nas alturas da cidade,
15 To call to them that pass by, Who go right on their ways:
Para chamar aos que passam pelo caminho, e endireitam as suas veredas, dizendo:
16 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither; And as for him that is void of understanding, she saith to him,
Quem é simples, volte-se para aqui. E aos faltos de entendimento diz:
17 Stolen waters are sweet, And bread [eaten] in secret is pleasant.
As aguas roubadas são doces, e o pão tomado ás escondidas é suave.
