Proverbs 27
1 Boast not thyself of to-morrow; For thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
நீ நாளையைப் பற்றி பெருமைப்பட்டுப் பேசாதே, ஒரு நாள் என்னத்தைக் கொண்டுவரும் என்று உனக்குத் தெரியாதே.
2 Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; A stranger, and not thine own lips.
உன் வாயல்ல, இன்னொருவரே உன்னைப் புகழட்டும். உன் உதடுகளல்ல, வேறொருவரே உன்னைப் புகழட்டும்.
3 A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; But a fool’s vexation is heavier than they both.
கல் கனமும், மணல் பாரமுமாயிருக்கும்; ஆனால் மூடரின் கோபமோ இவை இரண்டையும்விட பெரும் சுமையாய் இருக்கும்.
4 Wrath is cruel, and anger is overwhelming; But who is able to stand before jealousy?
கோபம் கொடூரமானது, மூர்க்கம் பெருகிவரும்; ஆனால் பொறாமை இன்னும் ஆபத்தானது.
5 Better is open rebuke Than love that is hidden.
மறைவான அன்பைவிட, வெளிப்படையான கண்டிப்பு சிறந்தது.
6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; But the kisses of an enemy are profuse.
நண்பன் உண்டாக்கும் காயங்கள் நல்நோக்கமுடையவைகள், ஆனால் எதிரியின் ஏராளமான முத்தங்கள் வஞ்சகமானவை.
7 The full soul loatheth a honeycomb; But to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
திருப்தியடைந்தவன் தேனையும் வெறுப்பான்; பசியால் வாடுபவனுக்கோ கசப்பாயிருப்பதும் சுவையாயிருக்கும்.
8 As a bird that wandereth from her nest, So is a man that wandereth from his place.
தன் கூட்டைவிட்டு அலைந்து திரிகிற பறவையைப் போலவே, வீட்டைவிட்டு அலைகிற மனிதரும் இருக்கிறார்கள்.
9 Oil and perfume rejoice the heart; So doth the sweetness of a man’s friend [that cometh] of hearty counsel.
வாசனைத் தைலமும் நறுமணத்தூளும் இருதயத்திற்கு மகிழ்ச்சியைக் கொடுப்பதுபோல, ஒருவருடைய நண்பரின் அருமை இதயப்பூர்வமான ஆலோசனையிலிருந்து வெளிப்படுகிறது.
10 Thine own friend, and thy father’s friend, forsake not; And go not to thy brother’s house in the day of thy calamity: Better is a neighbor that is near than a brother far off.
நீ உன் சிநேகிதரையோ, உன் தகப்பனின் சிநேகிதரையோ கைவிட்டு விடாதே, உனக்குப் பேராபத்து வரும்போது உன் குடும்பத்தாரின் வீட்டிற்கு உதவி தேடிப்போகதே; தொலைவில் இருக்கும் உன் குடும்பத்தாரைவிட, அருகில் இருக்கும் அயலாரே மேல்.
11 My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, That I may answer him that reproacheth me.
என் மகனே, நீ ஞானமுள்ளவனாயிருந்து என் இருதயத்தை சந்தோஷப்படுத்து; அப்பொழுது என்னை மதிக்காதவர்களுக்கு என்னால் பதிலளிக்க முடியும்.
12 A prudent man seeth the evil, [and] hideth himself; [But] the simple pass on, [and] suffer for it.
விவேகிகள் ஆபத்தைக் கண்டு மறைந்துகொள்கிறார்கள்; ஆனால் அறிவற்றவர்களோ பார்க்காமல் நேராகப்போய் துன்பத்தை அனுபவிக்கிறார்கள்.
13 Take his garment that is surety for a stranger; And hold him in pledge [that is surety] for a foreign woman.
அறியாதவனுடைய கடனுக்காகப் பாதுகாப்புக் கொடுப்பவனுடைய உடைகளை எடுத்துக்கொள், வேறுநாட்டுப் பெண்ணுக்காக அதைச் செய்தால் அடைமானமாகவே அதை வைத்துக்கொள்.
14 He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, It shall be counted a curse to him.
ஒருவன் அதிகாலையில் தன் அயலானை அதிக சத்தமிட்டு ஆசீர்வதித்தால், அது சாபமாகவே எண்ணப்படும்.
15 A continual dropping in a very rainy day And a contentious woman are alike:
சண்டைக்கார மனைவி, மழைக்காலத்தில் தொடர்ச்சியான ஒழுக்கைப்போல் இருக்கிறாள்;
16 He that would restrain her restraineth the wind; And his right hand encountereth oil.
அவளை அடக்க முயல்வது காற்றை அடக்க முயல்வதுபோலவும், கையினால் எண்ணெயைப் பிடிக்க முயல்வதுபோலவும் இருக்கும்.
17 Iron sharpeneth iron; So a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
இரும்பு இரும்பைக் கூர்மையாக்குவது போல, ஒரு மனிதன் இன்னொரு மனிதனைக் கூர்மையாக்குகிறான்.
18 Whoso keepeth the fig-tree shall eat the fruit thereof; And he that regardeth his master shall be honored.
அத்திமரத்தைப் காத்து வளர்ப்பவன் அதின் பழத்தைச் சாப்பிடுவான்; தன் எஜமானின் நலன்களைப் பாதுகாப்பவன் மேன்மை பெறுவான்.
19 As in water face [answereth] to face, So the heart of man to man.
தண்ணீர் முகத்தைப் பிரதிபலிப்பது போல, ஒருவருடைய இருதயமும் உண்மையான நபரைப் பிரதிபலிக்கும்.
பாதாளமும் அழிவும் ஒருபோதும் திருப்தியடையாது; அவ்வாறே மனிதனுடைய கண்களும் திருப்தியடைவதில்லை. (Sheol h7585)
21 The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold; And a man is [tried] by his praise.
வெள்ளியை உலைக்கலமும் தங்கத்தை சூளையும் சோதிக்கும்; ஆனால் மனிதர்களோ அவர்களுக்கு வரும் புகழினால் சோதிக்கப்படுகிறார்கள்.
22 Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with bruised grain, Yet will not his foolishness depart from him.
தானியத்தை உலக்கையினால் இடிப்பதுபோல, மூடரை உரலில் போட்டு இடித்தாலும், மூடத்தனத்தை அவர்களிடமிருந்து உன்னால் அகற்றமுடியாது.
23 Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, [And] look well to thy herds:
உனது ஆட்டு மந்தைகளின் நிலைமையை நீ நன்றாய் அறிந்துகொள், உன் மாட்டு மந்தைகளையும் கவனமாய்ப் பராமரி;
24 For riches are not for ever; And doth the crown endure unto all generations?
ஏனெனில் செல்வம் என்றென்றும் நிலைப்பதில்லை, கிரீடமும் எல்லாத் தலைமுறைகளுக்கும் நிலைப்பதில்லை.
25 The hay is carried, and the tender grass showeth itself, And the herbs of the mountains are gathered in.
காய்ந்த புல் அகற்றப்படும்போது புதிதாக புல் முளைக்கிறது, குன்றுகளிலிருந்து புல் சேகரிக்கப்படுகின்றது;
26 The lambs are for thy clothing, And the goats are the price of the field;
ஆட்டுக்குட்டிகள் உனக்கு உடைகளைக் கொடுக்கும், வெள்ளாடுகள் ஒரு வயல் வாங்கப் பணத்தைக் கொடுக்கும்.
27 And [there will be] goats’ milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, And maintenance for thy maidens.
உனக்கும் உன் குடும்பத்திற்கும் போதுமான வெள்ளாட்டுப்பால் உன்னிடம் நிறைவாய் இருக்கும், அது பணிப்பெண்களின் பிழைப்பிற்கும் போதுமானதாய் இருக்கும்.
