< Matthew 3 >

1 And in those days cometh John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judæa, saying,
A ni ran pukat Ioanej jaun paptaij pwarado, padapadahk nan jap en Iudaa,
2 Repent ye; for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Majani: Komail kalula, pwe wein nanlan korendor.
3 For this is he that was spoken of through Isaiah the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make ye ready the way of the Lord, Make his paths straight.
Pwe iei i, me jaukop Iejaia katitiki, majani: Nil en jaunkair amen nan jap tan: Komail kaonopada al en Kaun o, kainenela al a!
4 Now John himself had his raiment of camel’s hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his food was locusts and wild honey.
A i Ioanej me a likau wun en kamel o a pirapireki kil in man, a jak a manjiek o oni en nan wel.
5 Then went out unto him Jerusalem, and all Judæa, and all the region round about the Jordan;
Toun lerujalem, o toun Iudaa, o toun jap akan liman Iordan ap koieila re a;
6 and they were baptized of him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
O irail paptaijela re a nan Iordan, ni ar weokada dip arail akan.
7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said unto them, Ye offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
A lao majanier Parijar o Jadu jar me toto ko don a paptaij, ap majani on irail: Dakot wan oter komail! Ij me padaki on komailer, en piti jan ni kamekam me kokodo?
8 Bring forth therefore fruit worthy of repentance:
Ari, komail kapwareda wan kalula mau!
9 and think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
A komail depa lamelame, me komail pan indan pein komail: Nan Apraam jam atail. Pwe i indai on komail, me Kot kotin kak on wiaki on Apraam na jeri kai takai pukat.
10 And even now the axe lieth at the root of the trees: every tree therefore that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Jile o mier ni tapin tuka kan; a tuka karoj me jo wa mau, pan paledi o lokidokila nani iai.
11 I indeed baptize you in water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit and [in] fire:
Melel, i paptaij kin komail pil on kalula, a me kotido muri, nan me laude jan ia, nai jowar on, en wa japwilim a jut; i me pan paptaij kin komail Nen jaraui o kijiniai.
12 whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing-floor; and he will gather his wheat into the garner, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire.
Japwilim a tanir mi ni lim a; a pan kotin koko melel japwilim a pera, ap nekid pena japwilim a wan korn nan im en nak, a dip akan a pan kotin karon kila kijiniai joutuk.
13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to the Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
Iejuj ap kotido jan Kalilaa, koti don Iordan ren Ioanej, pwen paptaijela re a.
14 But John would have hindered him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
A Ioanej kotin kan, ap potoan on: Mak eta i en paptaijela re ir, a iaduen ir me kotido re i?
15 But Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer [it] now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffereth him.
A Iejuj kotin japen majani on i: Wiada maj, pwe me kon on kita, kapwuiada pun kan karoj; a ah duki on i.
16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway from the water: and lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon him;
Iejuj Iao paptaijelar, ap kotin madanada jan nan pil o. A kilan, nanlan ap ritidan i, I ari kotin majani Nen en Kot kotidido ni mom en mwuroi men a kaipokedi po a.
17 and lo, a voice out of the heavens, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
O kilan, nil eu jan nanlan majani: Iet nai nl kompok, me I kin polaule kida!
