Luke 3
1 Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Cæsar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judæa, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituræa and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,
Dalam tahun kelima belas dari pemerintahan Kaisar Tiberius, ketika Pontius Pilatus menjadi wali negeri Yudea, dan Herodes raja wilayah Galilea, Filipus, saudaranya, raja wilayah Iturea dan Trakhonitis, dan Lisanias raja wilayah Abilene,
2 in the high-priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.
pada waktu Hanas dan Kayafas menjadi Imam Besar, datanglah firman Allah kepada Yohanes, anak Zakharia, di padang gurun.
3 And he came into all the region round about the Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance unto remission of sins;
Maka datanglah Yohanes ke seluruh daerah Yordan dan menyerukan: "Bertobatlah dan berilah dirimu dibaptis dan Allah akan mengampuni dosamu,
4 as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make ye ready the way of the Lord, Make his paths straight.
seperti ada tertulis dalam kitab nubuat-nubuat Yesaya: Ada suara yang berseru-seru di padang gurun: Persiapkanlah jalan untuk Tuhan, luruskanlah jalan bagi-Nya.
5 Every valley shall be filled, And every mountain and hill shall be brought low; And the crooked shall become straight, And the rough ways smooth;
Setiap lembah akan ditimbun dan setiap gunung dan bukit akan menjadi rata, yang berliku-liku akan diluruskan, yang berlekuk-lekuk akan diratakan,
6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
dan semua orang akan melihat keselamatan yang dari Tuhan."
7 He said therefore to the multitudes that went out to be baptized of him, Ye offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
Lalu ia berkata kepada orang banyak yang datang kepadanya untuk dibaptis, katanya: "Hai kamu keturunan ular beludak! Siapakah yang mengatakan kepada kamu melarikan diri dari murka yang akan datang?
8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
Jadi hasilkanlah buah-buah yang sesuai dengan pertobatan. Dan janganlah berpikir dalam hatimu: Abraham adalah bapa kami! Karena aku berkata kepadamu: Allah dapat menjadikan anak-anak bagi Abraham dari batu-batu ini!
9 And even now the axe also lieth at the root of the trees: every tree therefore that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Kapak sudah tersedia pada akar pohon dan setiap pohon yang tidak menghasilkan buah yang baik, akan ditebang dan dibuang ke dalam api."
10 And the multitudes asked him, saying, What then must we do?
Orang banyak bertanya kepadanya: "Jika demikian, apakah yang harus kami perbuat?"
11 And he answered and said unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath food, let him do likewise.
Jawabnya: "Barangsiapa mempunyai dua helai baju, hendaklah ia membaginya dengan yang tidak punya, dan barangsiapa mempunyai makanan, hendaklah ia berbuat juga demikian."
12 And there came also publicans to be baptized, and they said unto him, Teacher, what must we do?
Ada datang juga pemungut-pemungut cukai untuk dibaptis dan mereka bertanya kepadanya: "Guru, apakah yang harus kami perbuat?"
13 And he said unto them, Extort no more than that which is appointed you.
Jawabnya: "Jangan menagih lebih banyak dari pada yang telah ditentukan bagimu."
14 And soldiers also asked him, saying, And we, what must we do? And he said unto them, Extort from no man by violence, neither accuse [any one] wrongfully; and be content with your wages.
Dan prajurit-prajurit bertanya juga kepadanya: "Dan kami, apakah yang harus kami perbuat?" Jawab Yohanes kepada mereka: "Jangan merampas dan jangan memeras dan cukupkanlah dirimu dengan gajimu."
15 And as the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning John, whether haply he were the Christ;
Tetapi karena orang banyak sedang menanti dan berharap, dan semuanya bertanya dalam hatinya tentang Yohanes, kalau-kalau ia adalah Mesias,
16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but there cometh he that is mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit and [in] fire:
Yohanes menjawab dan berkata kepada semua orang itu: "Aku membaptis kamu dengan air, tetapi Ia yang lebih berkuasa dari padaku akan datang dan membuka tali kasut-Nyapun aku tidak layak. Ia akan membaptis kamu dengan Roh Kudus dan dengan api.
17 whose fan is in his hand, thoroughly to cleanse his threshing-floor, and to gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire.
Alat penampi sudah di tangan-Nya untuk membersihkan tempat pengirikan-Nya dan untuk mengumpulkan gandum-Nya ke dalam lumbung-Nya, tetapi debu jerami itu akan dibakar-Nya dalam api yang tidak terpadamkan."
18 With many other exhortations therefore preached he good tidings unto the people;
Dengan banyak nasihat lain Yohanes memberitakan Injil kepada orang banyak.
19 but Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother’s wife, and for all the evil things which Herod had done,
Akan tetapi setelah ia menegor raja wilayah Herodes karena peristiwa Herodias, isteri saudaranya, dan karena segala kejahatan lain yang dilakukannya,
20 added this also to them all, that he shut up John in prison.
raja itu menambah kejahatannya dengan memasukkan Yohanes ke dalam penjara.
21 Now it came to pass, when all the people were baptized, that, Jesus also having been baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
Ketika seluruh orang banyak itu telah dibaptis dan ketika Yesus juga dibaptis dan sedang berdoa, terbukalah langit
22 and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form, as a dove, upon him, and a voice came out of heaven, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
dan turunlah Roh Kudus dalam rupa burung merpati ke atas-Nya. Dan terdengarlah suara dari langit: "Engkaulah Anak-Ku yang Kukasihi, kepada-Mulah Aku berkenan."
23 And Jesus himself, when he began [to teach], was about thirty years of age, being the son (as was supposed) of Joseph, the [son] of Heli,
Ketika Yesus memulai pekerjaan-Nya, Ia berumur kira-kira tiga puluh tahun dan menurut anggapan orang, Ia adalah anak Yusuf, anak Eli,
24 the [son] of Matthat, the [son] of Levi, the [son] of Melchi, the [son] of Jannai, the [son] of Joseph,
anak Matat, anak Lewi, anak Malkhi, anak Yanai, anak Yusuf,
25 the [son] of Mattathias, the [son] of Amos, the [son] of Nahum, the [son] of Esli, the [son] of Naggai,
anak Matica, anak Amos, anak Nahum, anak Hesli, anak Nagai,
26 the [son] of Maath, the [son] of Mattathias, the [son] of Semein, the [son] of Josech, the [son] of Joda,

27 the [son] of Joanan, the [son] of Rhesa, the [son] of Zerubbabel, the [son] of Shealtiel, the [son] of Neri,

28 the [son] of Melchi, the [son] of Addi, the [son] of Cosam, the [son] of Elmadam, the [son] of Er,
anak Malkhi, anak Adi, anak Kosam, anak Elmadam, anak Er,
29 the [son] of Jesus, the [son] of Eliezer, the [son] of Jorim, the [son] of Matthat, the [son] of Levi,
anak Yesua, anak Eliezer, anak Yorim, anak Matat, anak Lewi,
30 the [son] of Symeon, the [son] of Judas, the [son] of Joseph, the [son] of Jonam, the [son] of Eliakim,
anak Simeon, anak Yehuda, anak Yusuf, anak Yonam, anak Elyakim,
31 the [son] of Melea, the [son] of Menna, the [son] of Mattatha, the [son] of Nathan, the [son] of David,
anak Melea, anak Mina, anak Matata, anak Natan, anak Daud,
32 the [son] of Jesse, the [son] of Obed, the [son] of Boaz, the [son] of Salmon, the [son] of Nahshon,

anak Metusalah, anak Henokh, anak Yared, anak Mahalaleel, anak Kenan,
38 the [son] of Enos, the [son] of Seth, the [son] of Adam, the [son] of God.
anak Enos, anak Set, anak Adam, anak Allah.
