Luke 21
1 And he looked up, and saw the rich men that were casting their gifts into the treasury.
Jésus, levant les yeux, vit les riches qui mettaient leurs offrandes dans le tronc.
2 And he saw a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.
Il vit aussi une veuve indigente qui y mettait deux petites pièces de monnaie,
3 And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, This poor widow cast in more than they all:
et il dit: « Je vous le dis, en vérité, cette pauvre veuve a mis plus que tous les autres.
4 for all these did of their superfluity cast in unto the gifts; but she of her want did cast in all the living that she had.
Car tous ceux-là ont donné de leur superflu en offrande à Dieu; mais cette femme a donné de son indigence tout ce qu’elle avait pour vivre. »
5 And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and offerings, he said,
Quelques-uns disant que le temple était orné de belles pierres et de riches offrandes, Jésus dit:
6 As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in which there shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
« Des jours viendront où, de tout ce que vous regardez-là, il ne restera pas pierre sur pierre qui ne soit renversée. »
7 And they asked him, saying, Teacher, when therefore shall these things be? and what [shall be] the sign when these things are about to come to pass?
Alors ils lui demandèrent: « Maître, quand ces choses arriveront-elles, et à quel signe connaîtra-t-on qu’elles sont près de s’accomplir? »
8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not led astray: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am [he]; and, The time is at hand: go ye not after them.
Jésus répondit: « Prenez garde qu’on ne vous séduise; car plusieurs viendront sous mon nom, disant: Je suis le Christ, et le temps est proche. Ne les suivez donc point.
9 And when ye shall hear of wars and tumults, be not terrified: for these things must needs come to pass first; but the end is not immediately.
Et quand vous entendrez parler de guerres et de séditions, ne soyez pas effrayés; il faut que ces choses arrivent d’abord; mais la fin ne viendra pas sitôt. »
10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom;
Il leur dit alors: « Une nation s’élèvera contre une nation, et un royaume contre un royaume.
11 and there shall be great earthquakes, and in divers places famines and pestilences; and there shall be terrors and great signs from heaven.
Il y aura de grands tremblements de terre, des pestes et des famines en divers lieux, et dans le ciel d’effrayantes apparitions et des signes extraordinaires.
12 But before all these things, they shall lay their hands on you, and shall persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for my name’s sake.
Mais, avant tout cela, on mettra les main sur vous, et l’on vous persécutera; on vous traînera dans les synagogues et dans les prisons, on vous traduira devant les rois et les gouverneurs, à cause de mon nom.
13 It shall turn out unto you for a testimony.
Cela vous arrivera, afin que vous me rendiez témoignage.
14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate beforehand how to answer:
Mettez donc dans vos cœurs de ne pas songer d’avance à votre défense;
15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to withstand or to gainsay.
car je vous donnerai moi-même une bouche et une sagesse à laquelle tous vos ennemis ne pourront ni répondre, ni résister.
16 But ye shall be delivered up even by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolk, and friends; and [some] of you shall they cause to be put to death.
Vous serez livrés même par vos parents, par vos frères, par vos proches et par vos amis, et ils feront mourir plusieurs d’entre vous.
17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake.
Vous serez en haine à tous à cause de mon nom.
18 And not a hair of your head shall perish.
Cependant pas un cheveu de votre tête ne se perdra;
19 In your patience ye shall win your souls.
par votre constance, vous sauverez vos âmes.
20 But when ye see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that her desolation is at hand.
Mais lorsque vous verrez des armées investir Jérusalem, sachez alors que sa désolation est proche.
21 Then let them that are in Judæa flee unto the mountains; and let them that are in the midst of her depart out; and let not them that are in the country enter therein.
Alors que ceux qui seront dans la Judée s’enfuient dans les montagnes, que ceux qui seront dans la ville en sortent, et que ceux qui seront dans les campagnes n’entrent pas dans la ville.
22 For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
Car ce seront des jours de châtiment, pour l’accomplissement de tout ce qui est écrit.
23 Woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days! for there shall be great distress upon the land, and wrath unto this people.
Malheur aux femmes qui seront enceintes ou qui allaiteront en ces jours-là, car la détresse sera grande sur la terre, grande la colère contre ce peuple.
24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led captive into all the nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
Ils tomberont sous le tranchant du glaive; ils seront emmenés captifs parmi toutes les nations, et Jérusalem sera foulée aux pieds par les Gentils, jusqu’à ce que les temps des Gentils soient accomplis.
25 And there shall be signs in sun and moon and stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the billows;
Et il y aura des signes dans le soleil, dans la lune et dans les étoiles, et, sur la terre, les nations seront dans l’angoisse et la consternation, au bruit de la mer et des flots;
26 men fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world: for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.
les hommes séchant de frayeur dans l’attente de ce qui doit arriver à la terre entière; car les puissances des cieux seront ébranlées.
27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
Alors on verra le Fils de l’homme venant dans une nuée avec une grande puissance et une grande gloire.
28 But when these things begin to come to pass, look up, and lift up your heads; because your redemption draweth nigh.
Quand ces choses commenceront à arriver, redressez-vous et relevez la tête, parce que votre délivrance approche. »
29 And he spake to them a parable: Behold the fig tree, and all the trees:
Et il leur dit cette comparaison: « Voyez le figuier et tous les arbres:
30 when they now shoot forth, ye see it and know of your own selves that the summer is now nigh.
dès qu’ils se sont mis à pousser, vous savez de vous-mêmes, en les voyant, que l’été est proche.
31 Even so ye also, when ye see these things coming to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh.
De même, quand vous verrez ces choses arriver, sachez que le royaume de Dieu est proche.
32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all things be accomplished.
Je vous le dis, en vérité, cette génération ne passera pas, que tout ne soit accompli.
33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
Le ciel et la terre passeront, mais mes paroles ne passeront pas.
34 But take heed to yourselves, lest haply your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day come on you suddenly as a snare:
Prenez garde à vous-mêmes, de peur que vos cœurs ne s’appesantissent par l’excès du manger et du boire, et par les soucis de la vie, et que ce jour ne fonde sur vous à l’improviste;
35 for [so] shall it come upon all them that dwell on the face of all the earth.
car il viendra comme un filet sur tous ceux qui habitent la face de la terre entière.
36 But watch ye at every season, making supplication, that ye may prevail to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
Veillez donc et priez sans cesse, afin que vous soyez trouvés dignes d’échapper à tous ces maux qui doivent arriver, et de paraître debout devant le Fils de l’homme. »
37 And every day he was teaching in the temple; and every night he went out, and lodged in the mount that is called Olivet.
Pendant le jour, Jésus enseignait dans le temple, et il en sortait pour aller passer la nuit sur la montagne qu’on appelle des Oliviers.
38 And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, to hear him.
Et tout le peuple, dès le matin, venait à lui pour l’écouter dans le temple.
