Joel 2
1 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain; let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of Jehovah cometh, for it is nigh at hand;
Sonnez de la trompette en Sion, et de sonner l'alarme dans ma montagne sacrée! Que tous les habitants du pays tremblent, car le jour de Yahvé arrive, car elle est proche:
2 a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, as the dawn spread upon the mountains; a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after them, even to the years of many generations.
Un jour de ténèbres et d'obscurité, un jour de nuages et d'obscurité épaisse. Comme l'aube qui se répand sur les montagnes, un peuple grand et fort; il n'y a jamais eu de tel, et il n'y en aura pas d'autres après eux, même jusqu'aux années de plusieurs générations.
3 A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and none hath escaped them.
Un feu dévore devant eux, et derrière eux, une flamme brûle. La terre est comme le jardin d'Eden devant eux, et derrière eux, une étendue sauvage et désolée. Oui, et personne ne leur a échappé.
4 The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so do they run.
Leur apparence est comme celle de chevaux, et ils courent comme des cavaliers.
5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of the mountains do they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.
Comme le bruit des chars sur les sommets des montagnes, ils bondissent, comme le bruit d'une flamme de feu qui dévore le chaume, comme un peuple fort en ordre de bataille.
6 At their presence the peoples are in anguish; all faces are waxed pale.
En leur présence, les peuples sont dans l'angoisse. Tous les visages sont devenus pâles.
7 They run like mighty men; they climb the wall like men of war; and they march every one on his ways, and they break not their ranks.
Ils courent comme des hommes puissants. Ils escaladent le mur comme des guerriers. Ils marchent chacun dans sa ligne, et ils ne dévient pas de leur trajectoire.
8 Neither doth one thrust another; they march every one in his path; and they burst through the weapons, and break not off [their course].
L'un ne bouscule pas l'autre. Ils suivent chacun leur propre chemin. Ils ont percé les défenses et ne rompez pas les rangs.
9 They leap upon the city; they run upon the wall; they climb up into the houses; they enter in at the windows like a thief.
Ils se précipitent sur la ville. Ils courent sur le mur. Ils montent dans les maisons. Ils entrent par les fenêtres comme des voleurs.
10 The earth quaketh before them; the heavens tremble; the sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.
La terre tremble devant eux. Les cieux tremblent. Le soleil et la lune sont obscurcis, et les étoiles retirent leur éclat.
11 And Jehovah uttereth his voice before his army; for his camp is very great; for he is strong that executeth his word; for the day of Jehovah is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?
Yahvé fait tonner sa voix devant son armée, car ses forces sont très importantes; car celui qui obéit à ses ordres est fort; car le jour de Yahvé est grand et très impressionnant, et qui peut l'endurer?
12 Yet even now, saith Jehovah, turn ye unto me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:
« Maintenant encore, dit Yahvé, tourne-toi vers moi de tout ton cœur, et avec le jeûne, et avec les pleurs, et avec le deuil. »
13 and rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto Jehovah your God; for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
Déchire ton cœur et non tes vêtements, et tournez-vous vers Yahvé, votre Dieu; car il est gracieux et miséricordieux, lent à la colère, et abondant en bonté, et cesse d'envoyer des calamités.
14 Who knoweth whether he will not turn and repent, and leave a blessing behind him, even a meal-offering and a drink-offering unto Jehovah your God?
Qui sait? Il pourrait se retourner et céder, et laisser une bénédiction derrière lui, une offrande de repas et une offrande de boisson à Yahvé, ton Dieu.
15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly;
Sonnez de la trompette en Sion! Sanctifier un jeûne. Convoquez une assemblée solennelle.
16 gather the people, sanctify the assembly, assemble the old men, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts; let the bridegroom go forth from his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.
Rassemblez le peuple. Sanctifier l'assemblée. Rassemblez les anciens. Rassemblez les enfants, et ceux qui allaitent au sein. Que le marié sorte de sa chambre, et la mariée hors de sa chambre.
17 Let the priests, the ministers of Jehovah, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O Jehovah, and give not thy heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the peoples, Where is their God?
Que les prêtres, les ministres de Yahvé, pleurent entre le portique et l'autel, et qu'ils disent: « Épargne ton peuple, Yahvé, et ne donnez pas votre héritage à la réprobation, pour que les nations dominent sur eux. Pourquoi diraient-ils parmi les peuples, « Où est leur Dieu? »
18 Then was Jehovah jealous for his land, and had pity on his people.
Alors Yahvé fut jaloux de son pays, et a eu pitié de son peuple.
19 And Jehovah answered and said unto his people, Behold, I will send you grain, and new wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith; and I will no more make you a reproach among the nations;
Yahvé répondit à son peuple, « Voici que je vais vous envoyer du blé, du vin nouveau et de l'huile, et vous en serez satisfait; et je ne ferai plus de toi un objet d'opprobre parmi les nations.
20 but I will remove far off from you the northern [army], and will drive it into a land barren and desolate, its forepart into the eastern sea, and its hinder part into the western sea; and its stench shall come up, and its ill savor shall come up, because it hath done great things.
Mais j'éloignerai l'armée du nord loin de vous, et le conduira dans une terre stérile et désolée, son front dans la mer orientale, et son retour dans la mer occidentale; et sa puanteur remontera, et sa mauvaise odeur s'élèvera. » Il a certainement fait de grandes choses.
21 Fear not, O land, be glad and rejoice; for Jehovah hath done great things.
Terre, n'aie pas peur. Soyez heureux et réjouissez-vous, car Yahvé a fait de grandes choses.
22 Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field; for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth its fruit, the fig-tree and the vine do yield their strength.
N'ayez pas peur, bêtes des champs; car les pâturages du désert surgissent, car l'arbre porte ses fruits. Le figuier et la vigne donnent leur force.
23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in Jehovah your God; for he giveth you the former rain in just measure, and he causeth to come down for you the rain, the former rain and the latter rain, in the first [month].
« Réjouissez-vous donc, enfants de Sion, et réjouissez-vous en Yahvé, votre Dieu; car il vous donne la pluie du matin en juste mesure, et il fait tomber la pluie pour vous, la pluie précoce et la pluie tardive, comme auparavant.
24 And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.
Les aires de battage seront pleines de blé, et les cuves déborderont de vin nouveau et d'huile.
25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the canker-worm, and the caterpillar, and the palmer-worm, my great army which I sent among you.
Je vous rendrai les années que le criquet pèlerin a dévorées, le grand criquet, la sauterelle, et la chenille, ma grande armée, que j'ai envoyée parmi vous.
26 And ye shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and shall praise the name of Jehovah your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you; and my people shall never be put to shame.
Vous aurez beaucoup à manger et serez rassasiés, et vous louerez le nom de Yahvé, votre Dieu, qui a fait des merveilles avec vous; et mon peuple ne sera plus jamais déçu.
27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am Jehovah your God, and there is none else; and my people shall never be put to shame.
Vous saurez que je suis au milieu d'Israël, et que je suis Yahvé, ton Dieu, et qu'il n'y en a pas d'autre; et mon peuple ne sera plus jamais déçu.
28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
« Ensuite, il arrivera que je répandrai mon Esprit sur toute chair; et vos fils et vos filles prophétiseront. Vos vieux hommes feront des rêves. Vos jeunes hommes auront des visions.
29 and also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my Spirit.
Et aussi sur les serviteurs et sur les servantes en ces jours-là, Je déverserai mon Esprit.
30 And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
Je ferai des prodiges dans les cieux et sur la terre: du sang, du feu, et des colonnes de fumée.
31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of Jehovah cometh.
Le soleil se changera en ténèbres, et la lune en sang, avant que n'arrive le jour grand et terrible de Yahvé.
32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of Jehovah shall be delivered; for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those that escape, as Jehovah hath said, and among the remnant those whom Jehovah doth call.
Il arrivera que quiconque invoquera le nom de Yahvé sera sauvé; car sur la montagne de Sion et à Jérusalem, il y aura ceux qui s'échapperont, comme Yahvé l'a dit, et parmi les restants, ceux que Yahvé appelle.
