Ezekiel 18

1 The word of Jehovah came unto me again, saying,

யெகோவாவின் வார்த்தை எனக்கு வந்தது,

2 What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge?

“‘தந்தையர் திராட்சைக் காய்களைத் தின்ன பிள்ளைகளின் பற்கள் கூசியது: என்று இஸ்ரயேல் நாட்டைக்குறித்து, நீங்கள் சொல்லும் பழமொழியின் அர்த்தம் என்ன’?

3 As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, ye shall not have [occasion] any more to use this proverb in Israel.

“நான் வாழ்வது நிச்சயம்போலவே, நீங்கள் இனிமேல் இப்பழமொழியை இஸ்ரயேலில் சொல்லப்போவதில்லை என்பதும் நிச்சயம் என்று ஆண்டவராகிய யெகோவா சொல்லுகிறார்.

4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

ஏனெனில் வாழ்கின்ற ஆத்துமா ஒவ்வொன்றும் என்னுடையதே, தகப்பனும், மகனும் இருவரும் ஒரேவிதமாய் எனக்குரியவர்களே; பாவம் செய்கிற ஆத்துமாவே சாகும்.

5 But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right,

“நீதியையும் நியாயத்தையும் செய்யும் நீதியுள்ள மனிதனொருவன் இருப்பானாகில்,

6 and hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbor’s wife, neither hath come near to a woman in her impurity,

அவன் மலைகளிலுள்ள சிறு கோவில்களில் படைக்கப்பட்டதைச் சாப்பிடாமலும், இஸ்ரயேல் வீட்டாரின் விக்கிரகங்களை நம்பாமலும் இருப்பான். அவன் தன் அயலான் மனைவியைக் கறைப்படுத்தாமலும், மாதவிடாய்க் காலங்களில் பெண்ணுடன் உறவுகொள்ளாமலும் இருப்பான்.

7 and hath not wronged any, but hath restored to the debtor his pledge, hath taken nought by robbery, hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment;

அவன் ஒருவரையும் ஒடுக்காமல் கடனுக்காய்ப் பெற்ற அடைமானத்தைத் திரும்பக்கொடுப்பான். அவன் கொள்ளையிடமாட்டான். ஆனால் அவன் பசியுடையோருக்கு உணவும், உடையில்லாதோருக்கு உடையும் கொடுப்பான்.

8 he that hath not given forth upon interest, neither hath taken any increase, that hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed true justice between man and man,

அவன் பணத்தை அதிக வட்டிக்குக் கொடுக்கமாட்டான். அவன் அதிக இலாபம் பெறவும் மாட்டான். தனது கையைத் தவறு செய்வதிலிருந்து விலக்கி, இரண்டு குழுக்களுக்கு இடையில் நீதியாய் நியாயந்தீர்ப்பான்.

9 hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept mine ordinances, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord Jehovah.

அவன் என்னுடைய கட்டளைகளைப் பின்பற்றி, என்னுடைய சட்டங்களை உண்மையாய்க் கடைப்பிடிப்பான். அப்படிப்பட்ட மனிதனே நேர்மையானவன். அவன் நிச்சயமாய் வாழ்வான் என்று ஆண்டவராகிய யெகோவா அறிவிக்கிறார்.

10 If he beget a son that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and that doeth any one of these things,

“ஆனால் அவனுக்கு வன்முறை செய்யும் ஒரு மகன் இருந்து, அவன் இரத்தம் சிந்துகிறவனாயோ, நல்லதல்லாத காரியங்களில் எதிலாவது ஈடுபடுகிறவனாயோ,

11 and that doeth not any of those [duties], but even hath eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbor’s wife,

அவனுடைய தகப்பன் செய்யாத எதையாவது செய்கிறவனாயோ இருந்தால், “அவன் மலைக்கோவில்களில் படைக்கப்பட்டதைச் சாப்பிடுகிறவன். அயலான் மனைவியைக் கறைப்படுத்துகிறவன்.

12 hath wronged the poor and needy, hath taken by robbery, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, hath committed abomination,

அவன் ஏழையையும் வறியோரையும் ஒடுக்குகிறவன். அவன் கொள்ளையடிக்கிறவன். அவன் அடைமானமாக வாங்கியதைத் திருப்பிக் கொடுப்பதில்லை. விக்கிரகங்களில் நம்பிக்கை வைக்கிறவன். அவன் அருவருப்பானவைகளைச் செய்கிறவன்.

13 hath given forth upon interest, and hath taken increase; shall he then live? he shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him.

அவன் அதிக வட்டிக்குக் கடன்கொடுத்து, அப்படிப்பட்ட மனிதன் உயிர்வாழ்வானோ? அவன் வாழவேமாட்டான். ஏனெனில் இந்த அருவருப்புகளையெல்லாம் அவன் செய்கிறான் அல்லவா? நிச்சயமாக அவன் கொல்லப்படுவான். அவனுடைய இரத்தப்பழி அவன் தலையிலேயே இருக்கும்.

14 Now, lo, if he beget a son, that seeth all his father’s sins, which he hath done, and feareth, and doeth not such like;

“ஆனால் இந்த மகனுக்கும் ஒரு மகன் இருந்து, அவன் தன் தகப்பன் செய்யும் பாவங்களையெல்லாம் கண்டு, தான் அத்தகைய காரியங்களைச் செய்யாமல் இருப்பானாகில், அதாவது:

15 that hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hath not defiled his neighbor’s wife,

“அவன் மலைக்கோவில்களில் படைக்கப்பட்டதைச் சாப்பிடுவதோ, இஸ்ரயேல் வீட்டாரின் விக்கிரகங்களை நம்புவதோ இல்லை. அவன் தன் அயலான் மனைவியைக் கறைப்படுத்துவதுமில்லை.

16 neither hath wronged any, hath not taken aught to pledge, neither hath taken by robbery, but hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment;

அவன் ஒருவனையும் ஒடுக்குவதும், கடனுக்காய் அடைமானம் கேட்பதும் இல்லை. அவன் கொள்ளையிடுவதில்லை. ஆனால் பசியாயிருப்போருக்கு உணவும், உடையற்றோருக்கு உடையும் கொடுக்கிறான்.

17 that hath withdrawn his hand from the poor, that hath not received interest nor increase, hath executed mine ordinances, hath walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live.

சிறுமையானவனை துன்பப்படுத்தாதபடித் தனது கையை, விலக்கிக்கொள்கிறான். அவன் அதிக வட்டிக்குக் கடன் கொடுக்காமலும், அதிக இலாபத்தை வாங்காமலும் இருக்கிறான். அவன் என் சட்டங்களைக் கைக்கொண்டு, என் விதிமுறைகளைப் பின்பற்றுகிறான். அவன் தன் தகப்பனின் பாவத்திற்காகச் சாகமாட்டான்; நிச்சயமாக உயிர்வாழ்வான்.

18 As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, robbed his brother, and did that which is not good among his people, behold, he shall die in his iniquity.

ஆனால் அவன் தகப்பனோ தன் சொந்தப் பாவங்களின் நிமித்தம் மரிப்பான். ஏனெனில் அவன் நீதியற்ற வழியில் சம்பாதித்து, தன் சகோதரரைக் கொள்ளையிட்டு தன் மக்கள் மத்தியில் நல்லதல்லாத காரியங்களைச் செய்தானே.

19 Yet say ye, Wherefore doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.

“என்றாலும் நீங்கள், ‘தந்தையின் குற்றத்தை மகன் ஏன் சுமப்பதில்லை?’ என்று கேட்கிறீர்கள், அந்த மகனோ நீதியான, நியாயமானவற்றைச் செய்து என் கட்டளைகள் எல்லாவற்றையும் கைக்கொள்ள கவனமாயிருந்தபடியால், நிச்சயமாக வாழ்வான்.

20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die: the son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son; the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

பாவம் செய்த ஆத்துமாவே சாகும். தந்தையின் குற்றத்தில் மகன் பங்குபெறமாட்டான். மகனின் குற்றத்தில் தகப்பனும் பங்குபெறமாட்டான். நீதியானவனுடைய நீதி அவனுக்குரியதாக எண்ணப்படும். கொடியவர்களின் கொடுமையோ அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமான குற்றமாக எண்ணப்படும்.

21 But if the wicked turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

“ஆனாலும் கொடியவன் தான் செய்த எல்லா பாவங்களிலிருந்தும் திரும்பி, என்னுடைய எல்லா கட்டளைகளையும் கைக்கொண்டு, நீதியானதையும் சரியானதையும் செய்வானேயாகில் நிச்சயமாக அவன் வாழ்வான், அவன் சாகமாட்டான்.

22 None of his transgressions that he hath committed shall be remembered against him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.

அவன் செய்த குற்றங்களில் ஒன்றாகிலும் அவனுக்கு விரோதமாக நினைக்கப்படுவதில்லை. அவன் செய்த நீதியான காரியங்களின் நிமித்தம் அவன் வாழ்வான்.

23 Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked? saith the Lord Jehovah; and not rather that he should return from his way, and live?

கொடியவர்களின் மரணத்தில் நான் மகிழ்ச்சியடைகிறவரோ? அவர்கள் தங்கள் வழிகளை விட்டுத் திரும்பி வாழும் போதல்லவா நான் மகிழ்ச்சியடைகிறேன் என்று ஆண்டவராகிய யெகோவா அறிவிக்கிறார்.

24 But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? None of his righteous deeds that he hath done shall be remembered: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.

“ஆனால் நீதிமான் ஒருவன் தன் நீதியிலிருந்து விலகி, பாவம் செய்து, கொடியவன் செய்வது போன்ற அருவருப்பான அதே காரியங்களையும் செய்வானேயாகில் அவன் பிழைப்பானோ? அவன் செய்த நீதியான காரியங்கள் எதுவுமே நினைக்கப்படுவதில்லை. உண்மையற்றவனாய் இருப்பதன் நிமித்தம் அவன் குற்றவாளியாயிருக்கிறான். அவன் தான் செய்த பாவங்களினிமித்தம் மரிப்பான்.

25 Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel: Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?

“என்றாலும் நீங்கள், ‘யெகோவாவின் வழி நீதியானதல்ல’ என்கிறீர்கள். இஸ்ரயேல் குடும்பத்தாரே கேளுங்கள்; எனது வழி நீதியற்றதோ? உங்கள் வழிகள் அல்லவோ நீதியற்றவை.

26 When the righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth therein; in his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.

நீதிமான் ஒருவன் தன் நீதியைவிட்டு விலகி பாவம் செய்வானாகில், அதன் நிமித்தம் அவன் மரிப்பான். அவன் செய்த பாவத்திற்காகவே அவன் மரிப்பான்.

27 Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.

ஆனால், கொடியவனொருவன் தான் செய்த கொடுமையை விட்டு விலகி, நீதியானதையும் செய்வானாகில் அவன் தன் உயிரைக் காத்துக்கொள்வான்.

28 Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

அவன் தான் செய்த எல்லா குற்றங்களையும் சிந்தித்து அவைகளை விட்டுத் திரும்புவதால் நிச்சயமாக அவன் பிழைப்பான். அவன் சாகமாட்டான்.

29 Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?

அப்படியிருந்தபோதிலும், ‘யெகோவாவின் வழி நீதியற்றது என்று இஸ்ரயேல் குடும்பத்தார் கூறுகிறார்களே,’ என் வழிகள் நீதியற்றவைகளோ? இஸ்ரயேல் குடும்பத்தாரே, உங்கள் வழிகள் அல்லவோ நீதியற்றவை.

30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord Jehovah. Return ye, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.

“ஆகையால், இஸ்ரயேல் குடும்பத்தாரே, நான் உங்கள் ஒவ்வொருவரையும் அவரவர் வழிகளுக்குத்தக்கபடி நியாயந்தீர்பேன் என்று ஆண்டவராகிய யெகோவா கூறுகிறார். மனந்திரும்புங்கள்! உங்கள் குற்றங்கள் எல்லாவற்றிலிருந்தும் திரும்புங்கள். அப்பொழுது பாவம் உங்கள் வீழ்ச்சிக்குக் காரணமாயிராது.

31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, wherein ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

நீங்கள் செய்த குற்றங்கள் அனைத்தையும் உங்களைவிட்டு அகற்றிவிட்டு புதிய இருதயத்தையும் புதிய ஆவியையும் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளுங்கள். இஸ்ரயேல் குடும்பத்தாரே, நீங்கள் ஏன் சாகவேண்டும்?

32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord Jehovah: wherefore turn yourselves, and live.

யாருடைய மரணத்திலும் நான் மகிழ்ச்சியடைவதில்லை. மனந்திரும்பி வாழுங்கள் என்று ஆண்டவராகிய யெகோவா சொல்லுகிறார்.
