Ephesians 5
1 Be ye therefore imitators of God, as beloved children;
૧એ માટે તમે પ્રભુનાં પ્રિય બાળકો તરીકે ઈશ્વરનું અનુસરણ કરનારા થાઓ;
2 and walk in love, even as Christ also loved you, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for an odor of a sweet smell.
૨અને પ્રેમમાં ચાલો. જેમ ખ્રિસ્ત ઈસુએ તમારા પર પ્રેમ રાખ્યો અને ઈશ્વરની સમક્ષ સુવાસને અર્થે, આપણે સારુ સ્વાર્પણ કરીને પોતાનું બલિદાન આપ્યું, તેમ.
3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as becometh saints;
૩વ્યભિચાર તથા સર્વ પ્રકારની અશુદ્ધતા અથવા દ્રવ્યલોભનાં નામ પણ સરખાં તમારે કદી ન લેવાં, કેમ કે સંતોને એ જ શોભે છે;
4 nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, or jesting, which are not befitting: but rather giving of thanks.
૪જે અશોભનીય છે એવી નિર્લજ્જ તથા મૂર્ખતાભરેલી વાત અથવા હસીમજાક તમારામાં ન થાય પણ તેના બદલે આભારસ્તુતિ કરવી.
5 For this ye know of a surety, that no fornicator, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
૫કેમ કે તમે સારી રીતે જાણો છો કે, વ્યભિચારી, અશુદ્ધ, દ્રવ્યલોભી, એટલે મૂર્તિપૂજકોને ખ્રિસ્તનાં તથા ઈશ્વરના રાજ્યમાં વારસો નથી.
6 Let no man deceive you with empty words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the sons of disobedience.
૬તમને વ્યર્થ વાતોથી કોઈ ભુલાવે નહિ; કેમ કે એવાં કામોને લીધે ઈશ્વરનો કોપ આજ્ઞાભંગ કરનારા પર આવે છે.
7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them;
૭એ માટે તમે તેઓના સહભાગી ન થાઓ.
8 for ye were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord: walk as children of light
૮કેમ કે તમે પહેલાં અંધકારમાં હતા પણ હવે પ્રભુમાં પ્રકાશરૂપ છો; પ્રકાશનાં સંતોને ઘટે એ રીતે ચાલો.
9 (for the fruit of the light is in all goodness and righteousness and truth),
૯કેમ કે પ્રકાશનું ફળ સર્વ પ્રકારના સદાચારમાં તથા ન્યાયીપણામાં તથા સત્યમાં છે.
10 proving what is well-pleasing unto the Lord;
૧૦પ્રભુને શું પસંદ પડે છે, તે પારખી લો.
11 and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them;
૧૧અંધકારનાં નિષ્ફળ કામોના સોબતીઓ ન થાઓ; પણ તેઓને વખોડો.
12 for the things which are done by them in secret it is a shame even to speak of.
૧૨કેમ કે તેઓ ગુપ્તમાં એવા કામ કરે છે કે, જે કહેતાં પણ શરમ લાગે છે.
13 But all things when they are reproved are made manifest by the light: for everything that is made manifest is light.
૧૩જે સર્વ વખોડાયેલું, તે પ્રકાશથી પ્રગટ થાય છે; કેમ કે જે પ્રગટ કરાયેલું છે, તે પ્રકાશરૂપ છે.
14 Wherefore [he] saith, Awake, thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall shine upon thee.
૧૪માટે કહેલું છે કે, ઊંઘનાર, જાગ, ને મૂએલાંમાંથી ઊઠ, અને ખ્રિસ્ત તારા પર પ્રકાશ પાડશે.
15 Look therefore carefully how ye walk, not as unwise, but as wise;
૧૫તો સાંભળો કે તમે નિર્બુદ્ધોની જેમ નહિ, પણ ચોકસાઈથી બુદ્ધિવંતોની રીતે ચાલો;
16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
૧૬સમયનો સદુપયોગ કરો, કેમ કે દિવસો ખરાબ છે.
17 Wherefore be ye not foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
૧૭તેથી તમે અણસમજુ ન થાઓ, પણ ઈશ્વરની ઇચ્છા શી છે તે સમજો.
18 And be not drunken with wine, wherein is riot, but be filled with the Spirit;
૧૮દ્રાક્ષારસ પીને મસ્ત ન થાઓ, એ દુર્વ્યસન છે, પણ પવિત્ર આત્માથી ભરપૂર થાઓ;
19 speaking one to another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord;
૧૯ગીતોથી, સ્ત્રોત્રોથી તથા આત્મિક ગાનોથી એકબીજાની સાથે પ્રભુની વાતો કરીને તમારાં હૃદયમાં પ્રભુનાં ભજનો તથા ગીતો ગાઓ;
20 giving thanks always for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;
૨૦આપણા પ્રભુ ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્તને નામે, ઈશ્વર પિતાની આભારસ્તુતિ સર્વને સારુ નિત્ય કરજો.
21 subjecting yourselves one to another in the fear of Christ.
૨૧ખ્રિસ્તનું ભય રાખીને એકબીજાને આધીન રહો.
22 Wives, [be in subjection] unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
૨૨પત્નીઓ, જેમ પ્રભુને તેમ પોતાના પતિઓને આધીન થાઓ;
23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, [being] himself the saviour of the body.
૨૩કેમ કે પતિ પત્નીનું શિર છે. જેમ ખ્રિસ્ત મંડળીનું શિર છે તે શરીરનાં ઉદ્ધારક છે.
24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so [let] the wives also [be] to their husbands in everything.
૨૪જેમ વિશ્વાસી સમુદાય ખ્રિસ્તને આધીન છે, તેમ પત્નીઓએ સર્વ બાબતમાં પોતાના પતિઓને આધીન રહેવું.
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it;
૨૫પતિઓ, પોતાની પત્નીઓ પર પ્રેમ કરો, જેમ ખ્રિસ્ત ઈસુએ પોતાના વિશ્વાસી સમુદાય પર પ્રેમ રાખ્યો અને તેને સારું પોતાનું સ્વાર્પણ કર્યુ તેમ;
26 that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word,
૨૬એ સારુ કે વચન વડે જળસ્નાનથી શુદ્ધ કરીને, ખ્રિસ્ત વિશ્વાસી સમુદાયને પવિત્ર કરે,
27 that he might present the church to himself a glorious [church], not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
૨૭અને જેને ડાઘ, કરચલી કે એવું કંઈ ન હોય; પણ તે પવિત્ર તથા નિર્દોષ હોય, એવા વિશ્વાસી સમુદાય તરીકે પોતાની આગળ ગૌરવી સ્વરૂપે રજૂ કરે.
28 Even so ought husbands also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his own wife loveth himself:
૨૮એ જ પ્રમાણે પતિઓએ જેમ પોતાનાં શરીરો પર તેમ પોતાની પત્નીઓ પર પ્રેમ કરવો; જે પોતાની પત્ની પર પ્રેમ કરે છે, તે પોતા પર પ્રેમ કરે છે;
29 for no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as Christ also the church;
૨૯કેમ કે કોઈ માણસ પોતાના શરીરનો કદી દ્વેષ કરતો નથી; પણ તે તેનું પાલનપોષણ કરે છે. જેમ ખ્રિસ્ત પણ વિશ્વાસી સમુદાયનું પોષણ કરે છે તેમ,
30 because we are members of his body.
૩૦કેમ કે આપણે તેમના ખ્રિસ્તનાં શરીરનાં અંગો છીએ.
31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh.
૩૧એ માટે પુરુષ પોતાનાં માતાપિતાને મૂકીને પોતાની પત્નીની સાથે જોડાઈને રહેશે, અને તેઓ બન્ને એક દેહ થશે.
32 This mystery is great: but I speak in regard of Christ and of the church.
૩૨આ ગહન રહસ્ય છે; પણ હું ખ્રિસ્ત તથા વિશ્વાસી સમુદાય સંબંધી એ કહું છું.
33 Nevertheless do ye also severally love each one his own wife even as himself; and [let] the wife [see] that she fear her husband.
૩૩તોપણ તમારામાંના દરેક જેમ પોતાના પર તેમ પોતાની પત્ની પર પ્રેમ કરે; અને પત્ની પોતાના પતિનું માન જાળવે.
