Ephesians 3
1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus in behalf of you Gentiles, —
Ja, Paweł, stałem się więźniem Chrystusa właśnie z powodu was, pogan.
2 if so be that ye have heard of the dispensation of that grace of God which was given me to you-ward;
Jak bowiem wiecie, Bóg polecił mi, abym przekazał wam dobrą nowinę o Jego łasce.
3 how that by revelation was made known unto me the mystery, as I wrote before in few words,
On objawił mi również tę tajemnicę, o której przed chwilą w skrócie wam napisałem.
4 whereby, when ye read, ye can perceive my understanding in the mystery of Christ;
Czytając moje słowa, możecie się więc dowiedzieć, jak rozumiem ten tajemniczy plan Chrystusa.
5 which in other generations was not made known unto the sons of men, as it hath now been revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit;
W minionych czasach nie był on ujawniony ludziom, ale obecnie Duch objawił go świętym apostołom i prorokom.
6 [to wit], that the Gentiles are fellow-heirs, and fellow-members of the body, and fellow-partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel,
Sednem tej tajemnicy jest to, że dzięki dobrej nowinie o Chrystusie poganie na równi z Żydami otrzymują wspaniałe dary od Boga, należą do jednego ciała—kościoła—i razem korzystają z Bożych obietnic!
7 whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of that grace of God which was given me according to the working of his power.
Dzięki łasce i potężnej mocy Boga poświęciłem się głoszeniu tej właśnie dobrej nowiny.
8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, was this grace given, to preach unto the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;
Mnie, najmniej znaczącemu wśród wszystkich świętych, Bóg nakazał bowiem pójść do pogan i ogłosić im, że Chrystus obdarzył ich ogromnym bogactwem.
9 and to make all men see what is the dispensation of the mystery which for ages hath been hid in God who created all things; (aiōn g165)
Polecił mi również wyjaśnić ludziom ten tajemniczy plan Boga, Stwórcy wszechświata. Wcześniej plan ten był tajemnicą, (aiōn g165)
10 to the intent that now unto the principalities and the powers in the heavenly [places] might be made known through the church the manifold wisdom of God,
teraz zaś—poprzez kościół—zadziwiająca mądrość Boga została ujawniona wobec wszystkich nadziemskich władz i mocy.
Bóg zaplanował to przed wiekami i zrealizował przez Chrystusa Jezusa, naszego Pana. (aiōn g165)
12 in whom we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him.
To dzięki Niemu możemy teraz śmiało zbliżać się do Boga, bo wierzymy Mu.
13 Wherefore I ask that ye may not faint at my tribulations for you, which are your glory.
Proszę więc, nie załamujcie się, słysząc, że znoszę dla was jakieś cierpienia. Bądźcie raczej z tego dumni!
14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father,
Padam na kolana przed naszym Ojcem,
15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,
od którego pochodzi każda istota, zarówno w niebie, jak i na ziemi.
16 that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that ye may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man;
On jest otoczony chwałą i wszystko do Niego należy, dlatego proszę Go, aby was wewnętrznie wzmocnił przez swojego Ducha.
17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
Modlę się, aby Chrystus—przez wiarę—zamieszkał w waszych sercach i abyście uchwycili się Go.
18 may be strong to apprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
Wtedy bowiem zrozumiecie—wraz ze wszystkimi świętymi—jak szeroka, jak długa, jak wysoka i jak głęboka jest Jego miłość.
19 and to know the love of Christ which passeth knowledge, that ye may be filled unto all the fulness of God.
I poznacie ją, choć pełne zrozumienie jej przekracza ludzkie możliwości. Modlę się również o to, aby inni ludzie mogli dostrzec w waszym życiu cechy samego Boga.
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
Bóg, swoją potężną mocą działającą w naszym życiu, jest w stanie uczynić o wiele więcej niż to, o co Go prosimy, a nawet więcej niż jesteśmy sobie w stanie wyobrazić.
