Amos 7

1 Thus the Lord Jehovah showed me: and, behold, he formed locusts in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king’s mowings.

O Senhor Jehovah assim me fez ver, e eis que formava gafanhotos no principio do arrebento da herva serodia, e eis que havia a herva serodia depois da segada do rei.

2 And it came to pass that, when they made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord Jehovah, forgive, I beseech thee: how shall Jacob stand? for he is small.

E aconteceu que, como elles de todo tivessem comido a herva da terra, eu disse: Senhor Jehovah, ora perdoa: como se levantará Jacob? porque é pequeno.

3 Jehovah repented concerning this: It shall not be, saith Jehovah.

Então o Senhor se arrependeu d'isso. Isto não acontecerá, disse o Senhor.

4 Thus the Lord Jehovah showed me: and, behold, the Lord Jehovah called to contend by fire; and it devoured the great deep, and would have eaten up the land.

Assim me mostrou o Senhor Jehovah, e eis que o Senhor Jehovah chamava, que queria contender por fogo; o consumiu o grande abysmo, e tambem consumiu uma parte d'elle.

5 Then said I, O Lord Jehovah, cease, I beseech thee: how shall Jacob stand? for he is small.

Então eu disse: Senhor Jehovah, cessa agora; como se levantará Jacob? porque é pequeno.

6 Jehovah repented concerning this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord Jehovah.

E o Senhor se arrependeu d'isso. Nem isto acontecerá, disse o Senhor Jehovah.

7 Thus he showed me: and, behold, the Lord stood beside a wall made by a plumb-line, with a plumb-line in his hand.

Mostrou-me tambem assim; e eis que o Senhor estava sobre um muro, feito a prumo: e tinha um prumo na sua mão.

8 And Jehovah said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumb-line. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumb-line in the midst of my people Israel; I will not again pass by them any more;

E o Senhor me disse: Que vês tu, Amós? E eu disse: Um prumo. Então disse o Senhor: Eis que eu porei o prumo no meio do meu povo Israel, e d'aqui por diante nunca mais passarei por elle.

9 and the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.

Mas os altos de Isaac serão assolados, e destruidos os sanctuarios de Israel; e levantar-me-hei com a espada contra a casa de Jeroboão.

10 Then Amaziah the priest of Beth-el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.

Então Amazia, o sacerdote em Beth-el, enviou a Jeroboão, rei de Israel, dizendo: Amós tem conspirado contra ti, no meio da casa de Israel; a terra não poderá soffrer todas as suas palavras.

11 For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.

Porque assim diz Amós: Jeroboão morrerá á espada, e Israel certamente será levado para fóra da sua terra em captiveiro.

12 Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thou away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:

Depois Amazia disse a Amós: Vae-te, ó vidente, e foge para a terra de Judah, e ali come o pão, e ali prophetiza;

13 but prophesy not again any more at Beth-el; for it is the king’s sanctuary, and it is a royal house.

Mas em Beth-el d'aqui por diante não prophetizarás mais, porque é o sanctuario do rei e a casa do reino.

14 Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was a herdsman, and a dresser of sycomore-trees:

E respondeu Amós, e disse a Amazia: Eu não era propheta, nem filho de propheta, mas boieiro, e colhia figos bravos.

15 and Jehovah took me from following the flock, and Jehovah said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.

Porém o Senhor me tomou de detraz do gado, e o Senhor me disse: Vae-te, e prophetiza ao meu povo Israel.

16 Now therefore hear thou the word of Jehovah: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not [thy word] against the house of Isaac;

Ora, pois, ouve a palavra do Senhor: Tu dizes: Não prophetizarás contra Israel, nem derramarás as tuas palavras contra a casa de Isaac.

17 therefore thus saith Jehovah: Thy wife shall be a harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou thyself shalt die in a land that is unclean, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.

Portanto assim diz o Senhor: Tua mulher se prostituirá na cidade, e teus filhos e tuas filhas cairão á espada, e a tua terra será repartida a cordel, e tu morrerás na terra immunda, e Israel certamente será levado captivo para fóra da sua terra.
