Acts 1
1 The former treatise I made, O Theophilus, concerning all that Jesus began both to do and to teach,
El primer libro, oh Teófilo, hemos escrito acerca de todas las cosas desde que Jesús comenzó a obrar y enseñar,
2 until the day in which he was received up, after that he had given commandment through the Holy Spirit unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
hasta el día en que fue recibido en lo alto, después de haber instruido por el Espíritu Santo a los apóstoles que había escogido;
3 to whom he also showed himself alive after his passion by many proofs, appearing unto them by the space of forty days, and speaking the things concerning the kingdom of God:
a los cuales también se mostró vivo después de su pasión, dándoles muchas pruebas, siendo visto de ellos por espacio de cuarenta días y hablando de las cosas del reino de Dios.
4 and, being assembled together with them, he charged them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, [said he], ye heard from me:
Comiendo con ellos, les mandó no apartarse de Jerusalén, sino esperar la promesa del Padre, la cual ( dijo ) oísteis de mi boca.
5 for John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days hence.
Porque Juan bautizó con agua, mas vosotros habéis de ser bautizados en Espíritu Santo, no muchos días después de estos.
6 They therefore, when they were come together, asked him, saying, Lord, dost thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?
Ellos entonces, habiéndose reunido, le preguntaron, diciendo: “Señor, ¿es este el tiempo en que restableces el reino para Israel?”
7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know times or seasons, which the Father hath set within his own authority.
Mas Él les respondió: “No os corresponde conocer tiempos y ocasiones que el Padre ha fijado con su propia autoridad;
8 But ye shall receive power, when the Holy Spirit is come upon you: and ye shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa and Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
recibiréis, sí, potestad, cuando venga sobre vosotros el Espíritu Santo; y seréis mis testigos en Jerusalén, en toda la Judea y Samaria, y hasta los extremos de la tierra”.
9 And when he had said these things, as they were looking, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
Dicho esto, fue elevado, viéndolo ellos, y una nube lo recibió ( quitándolo ) de sus ojos.
10 And while they were looking stedfastly into heaven as he went, behold two men stood by them in white apparel;
Y como ellos fijaron sus miradas en el cielo, mientras Él se alejaba, he aquí que dos varones, vestidos de blanco, se les habían puesto al lado,
11 who also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye looking into heaven? this Jesus, who was received up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye beheld him going into heaven.
los cuales les dijeron: “Varones de Galilea, ¿por qué quedáis aquí mirando al cielo? Este Jesús que de en medio de vosotros ha sido recogido en el cielo, vendrá de la misma manera que lo habéis visto ir al cielo”.
12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is nigh unto Jerusalem, a sabbath day’s journey off.
Después de esto regresaron a Jerusalén desde el monte llamado de los Olivos que está cerca de Jerusalén, distante la caminata de un sábado.
13 And when they were come in, they went up into the upper chamber, where they were abiding; both Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James [the son] of Alphæus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas [the son] of James.
Y luego que entraron, subieron al cenáculo, donde tenían su morada: Pedro, Juan, Santiago y Andrés, Felipe y Tomás, Bartolomé y Mateo, Santiago de Alfeo, Simón el Zelote y Judas de Santiago.
14 These all with one accord continued stedfastly in prayer, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
Todos ellos perseveraban unánimes en oración, con las mujeres, con María, la madre de Jesús, y con los hermanos de Este.
15 And in these days Peter stood up in the midst of the brethren, and said (and there was a multitude of persons [gathered] together, about a hundred and twenty),
En aquellos días se levantó Pedro en medio de los hermanos y dijo —era el número de personas reunidas como de ciento veinte—:
16 Brethren, it was needful that the scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spake before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was guide to them that took Jesus.
“¡Varones, hermanos! era necesario que se cumpliera la Escritura que el Espíritu Santo predijo por boca de David acerca de Judas, el que condujo a los que prendieron a Jesús.
17 For he was numbered among us, and received his portion in this ministry.
Porque él pertenecía a nuestro número y había recibido su parte en este ministerio.
18 (Now this man obtained a field with the reward of his iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.
Habiendo, pues, adquirido un campo con el premio de la iniquidad, cayó hacia adelante y reventó por medio, quedando derramadas todas sus entrañas.
19 And it became known to all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch that in their language that field was called Akeldama, that is, The field of blood.)
Esto se hizo notorio a todos los habitantes de Jerusalén, de manera que aquel lugar, en la lengua de ellos, ha sido llamado Hacéldama, esto es, campo de sangre.
20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be made desolate, And let no man dwell therein: and, His office let another take.
Porque está escrito en el libro de los Salmos: “Su morada quede desierta, y no haya quien habite en ella”. Y: “Reciba otro su episcopado”.
21 Of the men therefore that have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and went out among us,
Es, pues, necesario que de en medio de los varones que nos han acompañado durante todo el tiempo en que entre nosotros entró y salió el Señor Jesús,
22 beginning from the baptism of John, unto the day that he was received up from us, of these must one become a witness with us of his resurrection.
empezando desde el bautismo de Juan hasta el día en que fue recogido de en medio de nosotros en lo alto, se haga uno de ellos testigo con nosotros de Su resurrección”.
23 And they put forward two, Joseph called Barsabbas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.
Y propusieron a dos: a José, llamado Barsabás, por sobrenombre Justo, y a Matías.
24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, who knowest the hearts of all men, show of these two the one whom thou hast chosen,
Y orando dijeron: “Tú, Señor, que conoces los corazones de todos, muestra a quién de estos dos has elegido
25 to take the place in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas fell away, that he might go to his own place.
para que ocupe el puesto de este ministerio y apostolado del cual Judas se desvió para ir al lugar propio suyo”.
26 And they gave lots for them; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
Y echándoles suertes, cayó la suerte sobre Matías, por lo cual este fue agregado a los once apóstoles.
