2 Chronicles 9
1 And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to prove Solomon with hard questions at Jerusalem, with a very great train, and camels that bare spices, and gold in abundance, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.
La reine de Saba, ayant appris la renommée de Salomon, vint pour éprouver Salomon par des énigmes, à Jérusalem, avec un équipage très considérable, et des chameaux portant des aromates, de l'or en grande quantité, et des pierres précieuses. Elle se rendit auprès de Salomon, et elle lui dit tout ce qu'elle avait dans le cœur.
2 And Solomon told her all her questions; and there was not anything hid from Solomon which he told her not.
Salomon répondit à toutes ses questions, et il n'y eut rien qui restât caché au roi, sans qu'il pût répondre.
3 And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built,
Quand la reine de Saba eut vu la sagesse de Salomon, et la maison qu'il avait bâtie,
4 and the food of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, his cupbearers also, and their apparel, and his ascent by which he went up unto the house of Jehovah; there was no more spirit in her.
et les mets de sa table, et les appartements de ses serviteurs, et les chambres et les vêtements de ses domestiques, et ses échansons et leurs vêtements, et l'escalier par où il montait dans la maison de Yahweh, elle fut hors d'elle-même,
5 And she said to the king, It was a true report that I heard in mine own land of thine acts, and of thy wisdom.
et elle dit au roi: " C'était donc vrai ce que j'ai appris dans mon pays de ce qui te concerne et de ta sagesse!
6 Howbeit I believed not their words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it; and, behold, the half of the greatness of thy wisdom was not told me: thou exceedest the fame that I heard.
Je n'en croyais pas le récit avant d'être venue et d'avoir vu de mes yeux, et voici qu'on ne m'avait pas dit la moitié de la grandeur de ta sagesse! Tu surpasses ce que la renommée m'avait fait connaître.
7 Happy are thy men, and happy are these thy servants, that stand continually before thee, and hear thy wisdom.
Heureux tes gens, heureux tes serviteurs, qui sont continuellement devant toi et qui entendent ta sagesse!
8 Blessed be Jehovah thy God, who delighted in thee, to set thee on his throne, to be king for Jehovah thy God: because thy God loved Israel, to establish them for ever, therefore made he thee king over them, to do justice and righteousness.
Béni soit Yahweh, ton Dieu, qui s'est complu en toi et t'a placé sur son trône comme roi pour Yahweh, ton Dieu! C'est parce que ton Dieu aime Israël, pour le faire subsister à jamais, qu'il t'a établi roi sur lui, pour que tu fasses droit et justice. "
9 And she gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and spices in great abundance, and precious stones: neither was there any such spice as the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon.
Elle donna au roi cent vingt talents d'or, une très grande quantité d'aromates et des pierres précieuses. Il n'y eut plus autant d'aromates tels que ceux que la reine de Saba donna au roi Salomon.
10 And the servants also of Huram, and the servants of Solomon, that brought gold from Ophir, brought algum-trees and precious stones.
Les serviteurs de Hiram et les serviteurs de Salomon, qui apportaient de l'or d'Ophir, amenèrent aussi du bois de santal et des pierres précieuses.
11 And the king made of the algum-trees terraces for the house of Jehovah, and for the king’s house, and harps and psalteries for the singers: and there were none such seen before in the land of Judah.
Le roi fit avec le bois de santal des balustrades pour la maison de Yahweh et pour la maison du roi, et des harpes et des lyres pour les chantres. On n'avait pas vu auparavant de bois semblable dans le pays de Juda.
12 And king Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, besides that which she had brought unto the king. So she turned, and went to her own land, she and her servants.
Le roi Salomon donna à la reine de Saba tout ce qu'elle désira, ce qu'elle demanda, plus qu'elle n'avait apporté au roi. Puis elle s'en retourna et alla dans son pays, elle et ses serviteurs.
13 Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and threescore and six talents of gold,
Le poids de l'or qui arrivait à Salomon en une année était de six cent soixante-six talents d'or,
14 besides that which the traders and merchants brought: and all the kings of Arabia and the governors of the country brought gold and silver to Solomon.
outre ce que les marchands et les négociants lui apportaient; tous les rois d'Arabie et les gouverneurs du pays apportaient de l'or et de l'argent à Salomon.
15 And king Solomon made two hundred bucklers of beaten gold; six hundred [shekels] of beaten gold went to one buckler.
Le roi Salomon fit deux cents grands boucliers d'or battu, employant six cents sicles d'or battu pour chaque bouclier,
16 And [he made] three hundred shields of beaten gold; three hundred [shekels] of gold went to one shield: and the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.
et trois cents petits boucliers d'or battu, employant trois cents sicles d'or pour chaque bouclier; et le roi les mit dans la maison de la forêt du Liban.
17 Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold.
Le roi fit un grand trône d'ivoire et le revêtit d'or pur.
18 And there were six steps to the throne, with a footstool of gold, which were fastened to the throne, and stays on either side by the place of the seat, and two lions standing beside the stays.
Ce trône avait six degrés et un marchepied d'or, fixés au trône; il y avait des bras de chaque côté du siège; deux lions se tenaient près des bras,
19 And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps: there was not the like made in any kingdom.
et douze lions se tenaient là sur les six degrés, six de chaque côte. Il ne s'est fait rien de pareil dans aucun royaume.
20 And all king Solomon’s drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold: silver was nothing accounted of in the days of Solomon.
Tous les vases à boire du roi Salomon étaient d'or, et toute la vaisselle de la maison de la forêt du Liban était d'or fin. Rien n'était d'argent; on n'en faisait nul cas du temps de Salomon.
21 For the king had ships that went to Tarshish with the servants of Huram; once every three years came the ships of Tarshish, bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.
Car le roi avait des vaisseaux qui allaient à Tarsis, naviguant avec les serviteurs de Hiram; une fois tous les trois ans, les vaisseaux de Tharsis arrivaient, apportant de l'or et de l'argent, de l'ivoire, des singes et des paons.
22 So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.
Le roi Salomon fut plus grand que tous les rois de la terre par les richesses et par la sagesse.
23 And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.
Tous les rois de la terre cherchaient à voir Salomon, pour entendre la sagesse que Dieu avait mise dans son cœur;
24 And they brought every man his tribute, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and raiment, armor, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.
et chacun apportait son présent, des objets d'argent et des objets d'or, des vêtements, des armes, des aromates, des chevaux et des mulets, chaque année.
25 And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, that he bestowed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.
Salomon avait quatre mille crèches pour les chevaux destinés à ses chars, et douze mille cavaliers, qu'il plaça dans les villes où étaient déposés ses chars, et près du roi à Jérusalem.
26 And he ruled over all the kings from the River even unto the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt.
Il dominait sur tous les rois, depuis le Fleuve jusqu'au pays des Philistins et jusqu'à la frontière d'Egypte.
27 And the king made silver to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he to be as the sycomore-trees that are in the lowland, for abundance.
Le roi fit que l'argent était à Jérusalem aussi commun que les pierres, et il fit que les cèdres étaient aussi nombreux que les sycomores qui croissent dans la plaine.
28 And they brought horses for Solomon out of Egypt, and out of all lands.
On tirait des chevaux pour Salomon de l'Egypte et de tous les pays.
29 Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, first and last, are they not written in the history of Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam the son of Nebat?
Le reste des actes de Salomon, les premiers et les derniers, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans les Paroles de Nathan le prophète, dans la Prophétie d'Ahias de Silo, et dans les Visions d'Addo le voyant au sujet de Jéroboam, fils de Nabat?
30 And Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years.
Salomon régna quarante ans à Jérusalem sur tout Israël.
31 And Solomon slept with his fathers, and he was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.
Et Salomon se coucha avec ses pères, et on l'enterra dans la ville de David, son père; et Roboam, son fils, devint roi à sa place.
