1 Timothy 1

1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus according to the commandment of God our Saviour, and Christ Jesus our hope;

Paulo, apóstolo de Jesus Cristo segundo o mandamento de Deus nosso Salvador e do Senhor Jesus Cristo nossa esperança,

2 unto Timothy, my true child in faith: Grace, mercy, peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

para Timóteo, meu verdadeiro filho na fé: Graça, misericórdia e paz da parte de Deus nosso Pai e de Cristo Jesus nosso Senhor.

3 As I exhorted thee to tarry at Ephesus, when I was going into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge certain men not to teach a different doctrine,

Como eu o exortei quando estava indo para a Macedônia, fique em Éfeso para que você possa ordenar a certos homens que não ensinem uma doutrina diferente,

4 neither to give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questionings, rather than a dispensation of God which is in faith; [so do I now].

e que não prestem atenção aos mitos e infinitas genealogias, que causam disputas ao invés da mordomia de Deus, que está na fé.

5 But the end of the charge is love out of a pure heart and a good conscience and faith unfeigned:

Mas o objetivo desta ordem é o amor de coração puro, uma boa consciência e fé sincera,

6 from which things some having swerved have turned aside unto vain talking;

do qual algumas coisas, tendo perdido a marca, se desviaram para conversas vãs,

7 desiring to be teachers of the law, though they understand neither what they say, nor whereof they confidently affirm.

desejando ser professores da lei, embora não entendam nem o que dizem nem o que afirmam fortemente.

8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully,

Mas sabemos que a lei é boa se uma pessoa a usa legalmente,

9 as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and unruly, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

como sabendo disso, que a lei não é feita para uma pessoa justa, mas para os sem lei e insubordinados, para os ímpios e pecadores, para os profanos e profanos, para os assassinos de pais e assassinos de mães, para homicidas,

10 for fornicators, for abusers of themselves with men, for menstealers, for liars, for false swearers, and if there be any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine;

para os imorais sexuais, para os homossexuais, para os comerciantes de escravos, para os mentirosos, para os perjuros, e para qualquer outra coisa contrária à sã doutrina,

11 according to the gospel of the glory of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

de acordo com a Boa Nova da glória do Deus abençoado, que foi comprometida com a minha confiança.

12 I thank him that enabled me, [even] Christ Jesus our Lord, for that he counted me faithful, appointing me to [his] service;

Agradeço àquele que me capacitou, Cristo Jesus nosso Senhor, porque ele me contou fiel, nomeando-me para o serviço,

13 though I was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: howbeit I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief;

embora eu fosse um blasfemador, um perseguidor e insolente. Entretanto, obtive misericórdia porque o fiz ignorantemente na incredulidade.

14 and the grace of our Lord abounded exceedingly with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

A graça de nosso Senhor abundou excessivamente com a fé e o amor que está em Cristo Jesus.

15 Faithful is the saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief:

O ditado é fiel e digno de toda aceitação, que Cristo Jesus veio ao mundo para salvar os pecadores, dos quais eu sou o chefe.

16 howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me as chief might Jesus Christ show forth all his longsuffering, for an ensample of them that should thereafter believe on him unto eternal life. (aiōnios g166)

Entretanto, por esta causa obtive misericórdia, para que em mim primeiro, Jesus Cristo pudesse mostrar toda sua paciência para um exemplo daqueles que iriam acreditar nEle para a vida eterna. (aiōnios g166)

17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, [be] honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)

Agora ao Rei eterno, imortal, invisível, a Deus que é o único sábio, seja honra e glória para todo o sempre. Amém. (aiōn g165)

18 This charge I commit unto thee, my child Timothy, according to the prophecies which led the way to thee, that by them thou mayest war the good warfare;

Comprometo-me com esta instrução a você, meu filho Timóteo, segundo as profecias que lhe foram dadas antes, para que por eles você possa travar a boa guerra,

19 holding faith and a good conscience; which some having thrust from them made shipwreck concerning the faith:

mantendo a fé e uma boa consciência, que alguns, tendo empurrado para longe, fizeram um naufrágio a respeito da fé,

20 of whom is Hymenæus and Alexander; whom I delivered unto Satan, that they might be taught not to blaspheme.

dos quais são Hymenaeus e Alexandre, que entreguei a Satanás para que eles pudessem ser ensinados a não blasfemar.
