1 Timothy 1

1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus according to the commandment of God our Saviour, and Christ Jesus our hope;

Paulo, apostolo de Jesus Christo segundo o mandado de Deus, nosso Salvador, e do Senhor Jesus Christo, esperança nossa,

2 unto Timothy, my true child in faith: Grace, mercy, peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

A Timotheo meu verdadeiro filho na fé: graça, misericordia e paz da parte de Deus nosso Pae e da de Christo Jesus nosso Senhor.

3 As I exhorted thee to tarry at Ephesus, when I was going into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge certain men not to teach a different doctrine,

Como te roguei, quando parti para a Macedonia, que ficasses em Epheso, para advertires a alguns, que não ensinem outra doutrina,

4 neither to give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questionings, rather than a dispensation of God which is in faith; [so do I now].

Nem se dêem a fabulas nem a genealogias interminaveis, que mais produzem questões do que edificação de Deus, que consiste na fé.

5 But the end of the charge is love out of a pure heart and a good conscience and faith unfeigned:

Ora o fim do mandamento é a caridade de um coração puro, e de uma boa consciencia, e de uma fé não fingida.

6 from which things some having swerved have turned aside unto vain talking;

Do que, desviando-se alguns, se entregaram a vãs contendas;

7 desiring to be teachers of the law, though they understand neither what they say, nor whereof they confidently affirm.

Querendo ser doutores da lei, e não entendendo nem o que dizem nem o que affirmam.

8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully,

Porém bem sabemos que a lei é boa, se alguem d'ella usa legitimamente:

9 as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and unruly, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

Sabendo isto, que a lei não foi posta para o justo, mas para os injustos e obstinados, para os impios e peccadores, para os profanos e irreligiosos, para os parricidas e matricidas, para os homicidas,

10 for fornicators, for abusers of themselves with men, for menstealers, for liars, for false swearers, and if there be any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine;

Para os fornicadores, para os sodomitas, para os roubadores de homens, para os mentirosos, para os perjuros, e para alguma outra coisa contraria á sã doutrina,

11 according to the gospel of the glory of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

Conforme o evangelho da gloria de Deus bemaventurado, que me foi confiado.

12 I thank him that enabled me, [even] Christ Jesus our Lord, for that he counted me faithful, appointing me to [his] service;

E dou graças ao que me tem confortado, a Christo Jesus Senhor nosso, porque me teve por fiel, pondo-me no ministerio;

13 though I was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: howbeit I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief;

A mim, que d'antes fui blasphemo, e perseguidor, e oppressor; porém foi-me feita misericordia, porquanto o fiz ignorantemente, na incredulidade.

14 and the grace of our Lord abounded exceedingly with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

Mas a graça de nosso Senhor superabundou com a fé e amor que ha em Jesus Christo.

15 Faithful is the saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief:

Esta é uma palavra fiel, e digna de toda a acceitação, que Christo Jesus veiu ao mundo, para salvar os peccadores, dos quaes eu sou o principal.

16 howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me as chief might Jesus Christ show forth all his longsuffering, for an ensample of them that should thereafter believe on him unto eternal life. (aiōnios g166)

Mas por isso me foi feita misericordia, para que em mim, que sou o principal, Jesus Christo mostrasse toda a sua longanimidade, para exemplo dos que haviam de crêr n'elle para a vida eterna. (aiōnios g166)

17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, [be] honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)

Ora ao Rei dos seculos, immortal, invisivel, ao unico Deus seja honra e gloria para todo o sempre. Amen. (aiōn g165)

18 This charge I commit unto thee, my child Timothy, according to the prophecies which led the way to thee, that by them thou mayest war the good warfare;

Este mandamento te dou, meu filho Timotheo, que, segundo as prophecias que d'antes houve ácerca de ti, milites por ellas boa milicia;

19 holding faith and a good conscience; which some having thrust from them made shipwreck concerning the faith:

Retendo a fé, e a boa consciencia, rejeitando a qual alguns fizeram naufragio na fé.

20 of whom is Hymenæus and Alexander; whom I delivered unto Satan, that they might be taught not to blaspheme.

D'entre os quaes foram Hymeneo e Alexandre, os quaes entreguei a Satanaz, para que aprendam a não blasphemar.
