1 Corinthians 15
1 Now I make known unto you brethren, the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye received, wherein also ye stand,
Je vous rappelle, mes frères, l'Évangile que je vous ai prêché, que vous avez aussi accepté, dans lequel vous avez aussi persévéré,
2 by which also ye are saved, if ye hold fast the word which I preached unto you, except ye believed in vain.
et qui aussi vous sauvera si vous le retenez dans les termes mêmes où je vous l'ai prêché; autrement votre foi aurait été vaine.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which also I received: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
Car je vous ai transmis avant tout ce que j'ai reçu, savoir que Christ est mort pour nos péchés conformément aux Écritures,
4 and that he was buried; and that he hath been raised on the third day according to the scriptures;
qu'il a été enseveli, qu'il est ressuscité le troisième jour, conformément aux Écritures,
5 and that he appeared to Cephas; then to the twelve;
qu'il est apparu à Képhas, ensuite aux douze.
6 then he appeared to above five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain until now, but some are fallen asleep;
Ensuite il est apparu à plus de cinq cents frères à la fois, dont la plupart vivent encore aujourd'hui, et quelques-uns sont morts;
7 then he appeared to James; then to all the apostles;
ensuite il est apparu à Jacques; ensuite à tous les apôtres;
8 and last of all, as to the [child] untimely born, he appeared to me also.
enfin après eux tous, il m'est apparu à moi comme à l'avorton!
9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
Car, moi, je suis le moindre des apôtres, je ne suis pas digne d'être appelé apôtre, parce que j'ai persécuté l'Église de Dieu.
10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not found vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
Mais, par la grâce de Dieu, je suis ce que je suis, et la grâce qu'il m'a faite n'a pas été stérile; au contraire, j'ai plus travaillé qu'eux tous; non pas moi cependant, mais la grâce de Dieu qui est avec moi.
11 Whether then [it be] I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.
Ainsi donc, que ce soit moi, que ce soit eux, voilà ce que, nous prêchons, et voilà ce que vous avez cru.
12 Now if Christ is preached that he hath been raised from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?
Eh bien, si l'on prêche que Christ est ressuscité des morts, comment certains d'entre vous disent-ils qu'il n'y a pas de résurrection des morts?
13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, neither hath Christ been raised:
S'il n'y a pas de résurrection des morts, Christ non plus n'est pas ressuscité,
14 and if Christ hath not been raised, then is our preaching vain, your faith also is vain.
et si Christ n'est pas ressuscité, vaine est notre prédication, vaine votre foi.
15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we witnessed of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead are not raised.
Il se trouve même que nous sommes de faux témoins à l'égard de Dieu, car nous avons témoigné contre lui en disant qu'il a ressuscité le Christ qu’il n'a pas ressuscité puisque, en effet, les morts ne ressuscitent pas.
16 For if the dead are not raised, neither hath Christ been raised:
Si les morts ne ressuscitent pas, Christ non plus n'est pas ressuscité.
17 and if Christ hath not been raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
Si Christ n'est pas ressuscité, votre foi est illusoire, vous êtes encore dans vos péchés
18 Then they also that are fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
et, par suite, ceux qui se sont endormis en Christ ont péri.
19 If we have only hoped in Christ in this life, we are of all men most pitiable.
Si notre espoir dans le Christ ne dépasse pas la vie présente, nous sommes les plus à plaindre de tous les hommes.
20 But now hath Christ been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of them that are asleep.
Mais maintenant, Christ est ressuscité des morts, le premier de ceux qui se sont endormis.
21 For since by man [came] death, by man [came] also the resurrection of the dead.
En effet, par un homme est venue la mort, par un homme aussi la résurrection des morts;
22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.
car de même qu'en Adam tous sont mortels, de même dans le Christ tous recouvreront la vie;
23 But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; then they that are Christ’s, at his coming.
mais chacun à son rang: le premier, le Christ, puis ceux du Christ à son apparition;
24 Then [cometh] the end, when he shall deliver up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have abolished all rule and all authority and power.
ensuite il y aura la fin, quand il remettra la royauté à Dieu le Père, après avoir anéanti toute domination, toute autorité, toute puissance.
25 For he must reign, till he hath put all his enemies under his feet.
Il doit régner, en effet, «Jusqu'à ce qu'il ait mis tous les ennemis sous ses pieds.»
26 The last enemy that shall be abolished is death.
Le dernier ennemi anéanti sera la mort,
27 For, He put all things in subjection under his feet. But when he saith, All things are put in subjection, it is evident that he is excepted who did subject all things unto him.
car «Il a tout mis sous ses pieds». Mais quand il dira que tout est soumis, il faudra évidemment excepter Celui qui lui aura tout soumis;
28 And when all things have been subjected unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subjected to him that did subject all things unto him, that God may be all in all.
et quand tout lui sera ainsi soumis, alors le Fils lui-même se soumettra à Celui qui lui a tout soumis, pour que Dieu soit tout en tous.
29 Else what shall they do that are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why then are they baptized for them?
Autrement que feraient ceux qui se font baptiser pour les morts? Si, en tout cas, les morts ne ressuscitent pas, pourquoi se font-ils baptiser pour eux?
30 why do we also stand in jeopardy every hour?
et pourquoi nous, nous exposons-nous à tout moment?
31 I protest by that glorying in you, brethren, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
Tous les jours je vois la mort en face, aussi vrai, mes frères, que vous êtes mon sujet de gloire en Jésus-Christ notre Seigneur!
32 If after the manner of men I fought with beasts at Ephesus, what doth it profit me? If the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink, for to-morrow we die.
Si j'ai lutté contre des espèces de bêtes fauves à Éphèse, à quoi cela me sert-il? Si les morts ne ressuscitent pas, «Mangeons et buvons, car demain nous mourrons!»
33 Be not deceived: Evil companionships corrupt good morals.
Ne vous y trompez pas: «Les mauvaises compagnies corrompent les bonnes moeurs.»
34 Awake to soberness righteously, and sin not; for some have no knowledge of God: I speak [this] to move you to shame.
Revenez à votre bon sens, sérieusement, et ne péchez pas. Car certains d'entre vous sont dans l'ignorance sur Dieu, je le dis à votre honte!
35 But some one will say, How are the dead raised? and with what manner of body do they come?
- Mais, dira quelqu'un, comment les morts ressusciteront-ils? Avec quel corps reviendront-ils?
36 Thou foolish one, that which thou thyself sowest is not quickened except it die:
— Insensé, ce que tu sèmes n'est vivifié qu'après avoir traversé la mort.
37 and that which thou sowest, thou sowest not the body that shall be, but a bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other kind;
Ce que tu sèmes n'est pas le corps qui sera un jour, mais un simple grain, par exemple de froment ou de n'importe quelle plante.
38 but God giveth it a body even as it pleased him, and to each seed a body of its own.
Puis Dieu lui donne le corps qu'il lui a plu de lui donner, et à chaque semence un corps particulier.
39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one [flesh] of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another flesh of birds, and another of fishes.
Toute chair n'est pas une même chair; autre est la chair des hommes, autre la chair des bêtes, autre la chair des oiseaux, autre des poissons.
40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the [glory] of the terrestrial is another.
Il y a des corps célestes et des corps terrestres; autre est la gloire des célestes, autre des terrestres;
41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differeth from another star in glory.
autre est la gloire du soleil, autre la gloire de la lune; autre la gloire des étoiles; une étoile même diffère en gloire d'une autre étoile.
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
Il en est de même de la résurrection des morts: semé corruptible, le corps ressuscite incorruptible;
43 it is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
semé humble, il ressuscite glorieux; semé faible, il ressuscite fort;
44 it is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual [body].
semé corps matériel, il ressuscite corps spirituel; s'il y a un corps matériel, il y a aussi un corps spirituel;
45 So also it is written, The first man Adam became a living soul. The last Adam [became] a life-giving spirit.
c'est ainsi qu'il est écrit: «Le premier homme Adam devint une âme vivante», le dernier Adam est devenu un esprit vivifiant.
46 Howbeit that is not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; then that which is spiritual.
Mais ce n'est pas le corps spirituel qui existe d'abord, c'est le corps matériel; ensuite le spirituel.
47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is of heaven.
Le premier homme était «de terre, de poussière» le second homme est du ciel.
48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
Tel celui qui est «de poussière», tels ceux qui sont de poussière; et tel celui qui est du ciel, tels seront ceux du ciel;
49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
et comme nous avons porté l'image de celui qui est «de poussière», nous porterons aussi l'image de celui qui est du ciel.
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
Voici ce que j'affirme, mes frères: la chair et le sang ne peuvent avoir en héritage le Royaume de Dieu, la corruption n'a pas en héritage l'incorruptibilité.
51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We all shall not sleep, but we shall all be changed,
Je vais vous dire une chose restée jusqu'à présent secrète: Tous nous ne mourrons pas, mais tous nous serons transformés,
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
en un instant indivisible, en un clin d'oeil, au son de la dernière trompette. Car la trompette sonnera, les morts ressusciteront incorruptibles, et nous, nous serons transformés.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
Il faut, en effet, que ce corps corruptible revête l'incorruptibilité et que ce corps mortel revête l'immortalité;
54 But when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
et quand ce corps corruptible aura revêtu l'incorruptibilité et que ce corps mortel aura revêtu l'immortalité, alors s'accomplira ce qui est écrit: «La mort a été absorbée dans la victoire!
Où est, ô mort, ta victoire? Où est, ô mort, ton aiguillon? (Hadēs g86)
56 The sting of death is sin; and the power of sin is the law:
(l'aiguillon de la mort c'est le péché, et la puissance du péché, la loi).
57 but thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Rendons grâce à Dieu qui nous a donné la victoire par notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ.
58 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not vain in the Lord.
Ainsi, mes frères bien-aimés, soyez fermes, inébranlables, faites sans cesse des progrès dans l'oeuvre du Seigneur, sachant que votre peine n'est pas vaine dans le Seigneur.
