1 Corinthians 15
1 Now I make known unto you brethren, the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye received, wherein also ye stand,
Frères, j'attire votre attention sur l'évangile que je vous ai annoncé, que de votre côté vous avez reçu, auquel en outre vous êtes fermement attachés,
2 by which also ye are saved, if ye hold fast the word which I preached unto you, except ye believed in vain.
et par lequel aussi vous êtes sauvés, si vous vous tenez aux paroles par lesquelles je vous l'ai annoncé, à moins que ce ne soit inutilement que vous avez cru!
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which also I received: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
Je vous ai en effet transmis, avant tout, ce que de mon côté j'avais reçu, c'est que Christ est mort pour nos péchés, selon les écritures,
4 and that he was buried; and that he hath been raised on the third day according to the scriptures;
et qu'il a été enseveli, et qu'il est ressuscité le troisième jour, selon les écritures,
5 and that he appeared to Cephas; then to the twelve;
et qu'il a été vu par Céphas, puis par les douze;
6 then he appeared to above five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain until now, but some are fallen asleep;
ensuite il a été vu par plus de cinq cents frères à la fois, dont la plupart vivent encore maintenant, mais dont quelques-uns sont morts;
7 then he appeared to James; then to all the apostles;
ensuite il a été vu par Jacques, puis par tous les apôtres,
8 and last of all, as to the [child] untimely born, he appeared to me also.
enfin, après eux tous, il a été vu aussi par moi, qui suis comme l'avorton,
9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
car je suis le moindre des apôtres, moi qui ne mérite pas de porter le nom d'apôtre, parce que j'ai persécuté l'église de Dieu.
10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not found vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
Mais c'est par la grâce de Dieu que je suis ce que je suis, et la grâce qu'il m'a faite n'a pas été vaine, mais j'ai travaillé plus qu'eux tous, non pas moi, toutefois, mais la grâce de Dieu avec moi.
11 Whether then [it be] I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.
Ainsi donc, que ce soit moi, que ce soit eux, voilà ce que nous prêchons, et voilà ce que vous avez cru.
12 Now if Christ is preached that he hath been raised from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?
Mais, si l'on prêche que Christ est ressuscité des morts, comment y a-t-il parmi vous des gens qui disent qu'il n'y a pas de résurrection des morts?
13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, neither hath Christ been raised:
Mais, s'il n'y a pas de résurrection des morts, Christ non plus n'est pas ressuscité;
14 and if Christ hath not been raised, then is our preaching vain, your faith also is vain.
or, si Christ n'est pas ressuscité, notre prédication est donc vaine, vaine aussi est votre foi,
15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we witnessed of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead are not raised.
et il se trouve en outre que nous sommes de faux témoins à l'égard de Dieu, car nous avons témoigné contre Dieu qu'il a ressuscité Christ; tandis qu'il ne l'a pas ressuscité, si, en effet, les morts ne ressuscitent pas;
16 For if the dead are not raised, neither hath Christ been raised:
car si les morts ne ressuscitent pas, Christ non plus n'est pas ressuscité;
17 and if Christ hath not been raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
or si Christ n'est pas ressuscité, votre foi est chimérique, vous êtes encore dans vos péchés,
18 Then they also that are fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
et par conséquent aussi ceux qui sont morts en Christ ont péri.
19 If we have only hoped in Christ in this life, we are of all men most pitiable.
Si c'est seulement pendant cette vie-ci, que nous espérons en Christ, nous sommes plus à plaindre que tout le reste des hommes.
20 But now hath Christ been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of them that are asleep.
Mais maintenant Christ est ressuscité des morts, comme prémices de ceux qui sont morts!
21 For since by man [came] death, by man [came] also the resurrection of the dead.
En effet, comme la mort vient d'un homme, c'est d'un homme aussi que vient la résurrection des morts;
22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.
car, de même que c'est en Adam que meurent tous les hommes, de même aussi c'est en Christ que tous ils reprendront vie,
23 But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; then they that are Christ’s, at his coming.
mais chacun dans son propre rang: les prémices, c'est Christ, puis ceux qui appartiennent à Christ, lors de son avènement;
24 Then [cometh] the end, when he shall deliver up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have abolished all rule and all authority and power.
ensuite viendra la fin, quand il remettra le royaume à Dieu son Père, après avoir détruit toute domination, toute autorité, et toute puissance;
25 For he must reign, till he hath put all his enemies under his feet.
car il faut qu'il règne jusques à ce qu'il ait mis tous les ennemis sous ses pieds;
26 The last enemy that shall be abolished is death.
comme dernier ennemi est détruite la mort,
27 For, He put all things in subjection under his feet. But when he saith, All things are put in subjection, it is evident that he is excepted who did subject all things unto him.
car Il a tout placé sous ses pieds. Or quand il aura dit: « tout est soumis, » il est évident que c'est sauf Celui qui lui a soumis toutes choses;
28 And when all things have been subjected unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subjected to him that did subject all things unto him, that God may be all in all.
mais quand toutes choses lui auront été soumises, alors le Fils même sera soumis à Celui qui lui a soumis toutes choses, afin que Dieu soit tout en tous.
29 Else what shall they do that are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why then are they baptized for them?
Ou bien que feront ceux qui se font baptiser pour les morts? Si les morts ne ressuscitent absolument pas, pourquoi se font-ils encore baptiser pour eux?
30 why do we also stand in jeopardy every hour?
Pourquoi nous-mêmes, de notre côté, bravons-nous le péril à toute heure?
31 I protest by that glorying in you, brethren, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
Je meurs tous les jours; j'en atteste, frères, le droit de m'enorgueillir de vous, que je possède en Christ Jésus notre seigneur.
32 If after the manner of men I fought with beasts at Ephesus, what doth it profit me? If the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink, for to-morrow we die.
Si c'est humainement que j'ai combattu contre les bêtes à Éphèse, quel avantage m'en revient-il? Si les morts ne ressuscitent point, mangeons et buvons, car demain nous mourrons.
33 Be not deceived: Evil companionships corrupt good morals.
Ne vous laissez pas séduire: « mauvaises compagnies gâtent bonnes mœurs;
34 Awake to soberness righteously, and sin not; for some have no knowledge of God: I speak [this] to move you to shame.
soyez sobres, comme il convient, et ne péchez pas; car quelques-uns de vous ne connaissent pas Dieu; c'est à votre honte que je le dis.
35 But some one will say, How are the dead raised? and with what manner of body do they come?
Mais, dira quelqu'un: « Comment ressuscitent les morts? Et avec quelle espèce de corps viennent-ils? »
36 Thou foolish one, that which thou thyself sowest is not quickened except it die:
Insensé! Ce que, toi, tu sèmes ne reprend pas vie s'il ne meurt,
37 and that which thou sowest, thou sowest not the body that shall be, but a bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other kind;
et, quant à ce que tu sèmes, ce n'est pas le corps qui renaîtra, que tu sèmes, mais un simple grain, de blé peut-être, ou de toute autre semence;
38 but God giveth it a body even as it pleased him, and to each seed a body of its own.
mais c'est Dieu qui lui donne un corps, selon qu'il Lui a plu, et à chaque semence un corps qui lui est propre.
39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one [flesh] of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another flesh of birds, and another of fishes.
Toute chair n'est pas la même chair, mais autre est celle des hommes, autre la chair des quadrupèdes, autre la chair des volatiles, autre celle des poissons;
40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the [glory] of the terrestrial is another.
et il y a des corps célestes et des corps terrestres; mais différente est la gloire des célestes et différente celle des terrestres;
41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differeth from another star in glory.
autre est l'éclat du soleil, et autre l'éclat de la lune, autre l'éclat des étoiles, car une étoile diffère en éclat d'une autre étoile.
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
Il en est de même pour la résurrection des morts: il est semé dans la corruption, il ressuscite dans l'incorruptibilité;
43 it is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
il est semé dans le déshonneur, il ressuscite dans la gloire; il est semé dans la faiblesse, il ressuscite dans la force;
44 it is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual [body].
il est semé corps animal, il ressuscite corps spirituel; s'il existe un corps animal, il en existe aussi un spirituel;
45 So also it is written, The first man Adam became a living soul. The last Adam [became] a life-giving spirit.
aussi est-il écrit: « Le premier Adam fut fait pour devenir une âme vivante, » le dernier Adam pour devenir un esprit vivifiant.
46 Howbeit that is not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; then that which is spiritual.
Or ce qui est spirituel ne précède pas ce qui est animal, mais vient après;
47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is of heaven.
le premier homme tiré de la terre est terrestre, le second homme vient du ciel;
48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
tel qu'est le terrestre, tels aussi sont les terrestres; et tel qu'est le céleste, tels aussi sont les célestes;
49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
et de même que nous avons porté l'image du terrestre, nous porterons aussi l'image du céleste.
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
Or je vous déclare ceci, frères, c'est que la chair et le sang ne peuvent hériter le royaume de Dieu, et que la corruption n'héritera pas non plus l'incorruptibilité.
51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We all shall not sleep, but we shall all be changed,
Voici, je vous annonce un mystère: nous tous, nous ne mourrons pas, mais tous nous serons changés,
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
en un instant, en un clin d'œil, à la dernière trompette, car on sonnera de la trompette, et les morts ressusciteront incorruptibles, et nous, nous serons changés;
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
car il faut que ce corps corruptible revête l'incorruptibilité, et que ce corps mortel revête l'immortalité;
54 But when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
mais, quand ce corps corruptible aura revêtu l'incorruptibilité, et que ce corps mortel aura revêtu l'immortalité, alors s'accomplira la parole de l'écriture: « La mort a été engloutie dans la victoire.
Où est, ô mort, ta victoire? Où est, ô mort, ton aiguillon? » (Hadēs g86)
56 The sting of death is sin; and the power of sin is the law:
Or l'aiguillon de la mort, c'est le péché, tandis que la puissance du péché, c'est la loi;
57 but thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
mais grâces soient rendues à Dieu qui nous donne la victoire par notre seigneur Jésus-Christ!
58 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not vain in the Lord.
Ainsi donc, mes frères bien-aimés, soyez fermes, inébranlables, travaillant toujours davantage à l'œuvre du Seigneur, sachant que votre travail n'est pas inutile dans le Seigneur.
