1 Corinthians 15
1 Now I make known unto you brethren, the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye received, wherein also ye stand,
Je vous rappelle, mes frères, l'évangile que je vous ai annoncé, que vous avez reçu, et auquel vous êtes fermement attachés.
2 by which also ye are saved, if ye hold fast the word which I preached unto you, except ye believed in vain.
Il fera votre salut, si vous le retenez dans les termes où je vous l'ai annoncé; autrement, vous auriez cru en vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which also I received: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
Je vous ai annoncé principalement, comme je l'ai appris moi- même, que Christ est mort pour nos péchés, conformément aux Écritures;
4 and that he was buried; and that he hath been raised on the third day according to the scriptures;
qu'il a été enseveli, et qu'il est ressuscité le troisième jour, conformément aux Écritures;
5 and that he appeared to Cephas; then to the twelve;
qu'il est apparu à Céphas, puis aux Douze;
6 then he appeared to above five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain until now, but some are fallen asleep;
qu'après cela, il est apparu, en une rencontre, à plus de cinq cents frères, dont la plupart sont encore vivants aujourd'hui, et quelques-uns sont morts;
7 then he appeared to James; then to all the apostles;
qu'ensuite il est apparu à Jacques, puis à tous les apôtres;
8 and last of all, as to the [child] untimely born, he appeared to me also.
qu'enfin, après eux tous, il m'est apparu à moi, comme à l'avorton;
9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
car je suis le moindre des apôtres, moi qui ne suis pas digne d'être appelé apôtre, parce que j'ai persécuté l'Église de Dieu.
10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not found vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
C'est par la grâce de Dieu que je suis ce que je suis, et la grâce qu'il m'a faite n'a pas été vaine: j'ai travaillé plus qu'eux tous, non pas moi pourtant, mais la grâce de Dieu avec moi.
11 Whether then [it be] I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.
Ainsi donc eux et moi, voilà ce que nous prêchons, et c'est ce que vous avez cru.
12 Now if Christ is preached that he hath been raised from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?
Si l'on prêche que Christ est ressuscité des morts, comment quelques-uns parmi vous disent-ils qu'il n'y a point de résurrection des morts?
13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, neither hath Christ been raised:
S'il n'y a point de résurrection des morts, Christ non plus n'est pas ressuscité;
14 and if Christ hath not been raised, then is our preaching vain, your faith also is vain.
et si Christ n'est pas ressuscité, notre prédication est vaine; votre foi aussi est vaine.
15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we witnessed of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead are not raised.
Il se trouve même que nous sommes de faux témoins à l'égard de Dieu, puisque nous avons témoigné contre lui, qu'il a ressuscité Christ; au lieu qu'il ne l'a point ressuscité, s'il est vrai que les morts ne ressuscitent pas.
16 For if the dead are not raised, neither hath Christ been raised:
Si les morts ne ressuscitent pas, Christ non plus n'est pas ressuscité;
17 and if Christ hath not been raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
et si Christ n'est pas ressuscité, votre foi est vaine; vous êtes encore dans vos péchés;
18 Then they also that are fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
ceux aussi qui sont morts en Christ, sont perdus.
19 If we have only hoped in Christ in this life, we are of all men most pitiable.
Si nous n'avons d'espérance en Christ que dans cette vie seulement, nous sommes les plus malheureux de tous les hommes.
20 But now hath Christ been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of them that are asleep.
Mais voici, Christ est ressuscité: il est les prémices de ceux qui sont morts.
21 For since by man [came] death, by man [came] also the resurrection of the dead.
En effet, puisque la mort est venue par un homme, c'est par un homme aussi qu'est venue la résurrection des morts.
22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.
De même que tous meurent en Adam; de même, tous revivront en Christ;
23 But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; then they that are Christ’s, at his coming.
mais chacun en son rang: les prémices, c'est Christ, ensuite viendront ceux qui appartiennent à Christ, lors de son avènement;
24 Then [cometh] the end, when he shall deliver up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have abolished all rule and all authority and power.
puis, ce sera la fin, quand il remettra la royauté à Dieu, son Père, après avoir renversé toute principauté, toute autorité et puissance;
25 For he must reign, till he hath put all his enemies under his feet.
car il doit exercer la royauté «jusqu'à ce qu'il ait mis tous ses ennemis sous ses pieds.»
26 The last enemy that shall be abolished is death.
Le dernier ennemi qui sera détruit, c'est la mort.
27 For, He put all things in subjection under his feet. But when he saith, All things are put in subjection, it is evident that he is excepted who did subject all things unto him.
En effet, Dieu a tout mis sous ses pieds; toutefois, quand il est dit que «tout» lui a été soumis, il est évident qu'il faut excepter celui qui lui a soumis toutes choses.
28 And when all things have been subjected unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subjected to him that did subject all things unto him, that God may be all in all.
Lorsque toutes choses lui auront été soumises, alors le Fils lui-même sera aussi soumis à Celui qui lui a soumis toutes choses, afin que Dieu soit tout en tous.
29 Else what shall they do that are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why then are they baptized for them?
Autrement, que feraient ceux qui se font baptiser pour les morts? Si absolument les morts ne ressuscitent pas, pourquoi se font-ils aussi baptiser pour eux?
30 why do we also stand in jeopardy every hour?
Et nous-même, pourquoi sommes-nous à toute heure en péril?
31 I protest by that glorying in you, brethren, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
Je suis tous les jours exposé à la mort, aussi vrai, mes frères, que vous êtes ma gloire en Jésus-Christ, notre Seigneur.
32 If after the manner of men I fought with beasts at Ephesus, what doth it profit me? If the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink, for to-morrow we die.
Si c'est dans des vues humaines que j'ai combattu contre les bêtes à Éphèse, quel avantage m'en revient-il? Si les morts ne ressuscitent pas, «mangeons et buvons, car demain nous mourrons. »
33 Be not deceived: Evil companionships corrupt good morals.
Ne vous laissez point abuser: «les mauvaises compagnies corrompent les bonnes moeurs. »
34 Awake to soberness righteously, and sin not; for some have no knowledge of God: I speak [this] to move you to shame.
Revenez à la raison, comme il faut, et ne péchez point; car il y a parmi vous des gens qui ne connaissent pas Dieu: je le dis à votre honte.
35 But some one will say, How are the dead raised? and with what manner of body do they come?
Mais dira quelqu'un: « Comment les morts ressuscitent-ils? Avec quel corps viennent-ils? »
36 Thou foolish one, that which thou thyself sowest is not quickened except it die:
— Insensé que tu es, ce que tu sèmes ne reprend pas vie, s'il ne meurt auparavant.
37 and that which thou sowest, thou sowest not the body that shall be, but a bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other kind;
Quant à ce que tu sèmes, tu ne sèmes pas le corps qui sera un jour, mais un simple grain, de blé, peut-être, ou de quelque autre semence,
38 but God giveth it a body even as it pleased him, and to each seed a body of its own.
puis Dieu lui donne un corps, comme il lui plaît, et à chaque semence le corps qui lui est propre.
39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one [flesh] of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another flesh of birds, and another of fishes.
Toute chair n'est pas la même chair: autre est la chair des hommes, autre la chair des bêtes, autre la chair des oiseaux, autre la chair des poissons.
40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the [glory] of the terrestrial is another.
Il y a aussi des corps célestes et des corps terrestres; mais l'éclat des corps célestes est d'une nature différente de celui des corps terrestres:
41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differeth from another star in glory.
autre est l'éclat du soleil, autre l'éclat de la lune, autre l'éclat des étoiles; une étoile même diffère en éclat d'une autre étoile.
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
Il en est de même pour la résurrection des morts: le corps est semé corruptible, il ressuscite incorruptible;
43 it is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
il est semé méprisable, il ressuscite glorieux; il est semé infirme, il ressuscite plein de force;
44 it is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual [body].
il est semé corps animal, il ressuscite corps spirituel. S'il y a un corps animal, il y a aussi un corps spirituel;
45 So also it is written, The first man Adam became a living soul. The last Adam [became] a life-giving spirit.
c'est en ce sens qu'il est écrit: « Le premier homme, Adam, a été doué d'une âme vivante; » le dernier Adam l'a été d'un esprit vivifiant.
46 Howbeit that is not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; then that which is spiritual.
Mais ce qui est spirituel, n'est pas le premier, c'est ce qui est animal; ensuite vient ce qui est spirituel.
47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is of heaven.
Le premier homme étant tiré de la terre, est de terre; le second homme vient du ciel.
48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
Tel est celui qui est de terre, tels sont aussi ceux qui sont de terre; tel est le céleste, tels sont aussi les célestes.
49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
Et, de même que nous avons porté l'image de celui qui est de terre, nous porterons aussi l'image de celui qui est céleste.
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
Ce que j'affirme, mes frères, c'est que la chair et le sang ne peuvent hériter le royaume de Dieu, et que la corruption n'héritera pas l'incorruptibilité.
51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We all shall not sleep, but we shall all be changed,
Voici un mystère que je vous révèle: nous ne mourrons pas tous, mais nous serons tous changés,
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
en un instant, en un clin d'oeil, au son de la dernière trompette; car la trompette sonnera, et les morts ressusciteront incorruptibles, et nous, nous serons changés.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
Car il faut que ce corps corruptible revête l'incorruptibilité, et que ce corps mortel revête l'immortalité.
54 But when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
Lorsque ce corps corruptible aura revêtu l'incorruptibilité, et que ce corps mortel aura revêtu l'immortalité, alors se réalisera la parole qui est écrite: « La mort a été engloutie pour que nous soyons vainqueurs.
O mort, où est ton aiguillon? O mort, où est ta victoire? » (Hadēs g86)
56 The sting of death is sin; and the power of sin is the law:
L'aiguillon de la mort, c'est le péché, et la puissance du péché, c'est la loi.
57 but thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Mais grâces soient rendues à Dieu, qui nous donne la victoire par notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ!
58 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not vain in the Lord.
Ainsi, mes frères bien-aimés, soyez fermes, inébranlables, vous distinguant toujours dans l'oeuvre du Seigneur, sachant que votre travail n'est pas vain dans le Seigneur.
