< Psalms 44 >

1 For the Chief Musician. By the sons of Korah. A contemplative psalm. We have heard with our ears, God; our fathers have told us what work you did in their days, in the days of old.
O! Mawu, míawo ŋutɔ míesee kple míaƒe towo, nu siwo mía fofowo gblɔ na mí tso nu siwo nèwɔ na wo le woƒe ɣeyiɣiwo me le blema.
2 You drove out the nations with your hand, but you planted them. You afflicted the peoples, but you spread them abroad.
Ètsɔ wò asi nya dukɔwo, eye nètsɔ mía fofowo ɖo wo teƒe. Ègbã dukɔwo gudugudu, ke èna mía fofowo ya dzi ɖe edzi.
3 For they did not get the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them; but your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, because you were favorable to them.
Anyigba mesu wo si to woawo ŋutɔ ƒe yi dzi loo, alo woawo ŋutɔ ƒe alɔe ɖu dzi na wo o, ke boŋ wò nuɖusi, wò alɔ kple wò mo ƒe kekelie xɔ na wo, elabena èlɔ̃ wo.
4 God, you are my King. Command victories for Jacob!
Wòe nye nye Fia kple nye Mawu, wòe he dziɖuɖuwo vɛ na Yakob.
5 Through you, we will push down our adversaries. Through your name, we will tread down those who rise up against us.
To dziwò míetutu míaƒe futɔwo do ɖe megbe, eye to wò ŋkɔ me míenya avuzi le míaƒe futɔwo dzi.
6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither will my sword save me.
Nyemeɖo ŋu ɖe nye aŋutrɔ ŋu o, eye nye yi mehe dziɖuɖu vɛ nam o,
7 But you have saved us from our adversaries, and have shamed those who hate us.
ke boŋ èna míeɖu míaƒe ketɔwo dzi, eye nèna ŋukpe lé míaƒe adikatɔwo.
8 In God we have made our boast all day long. We will give thanks to your name forever. (Selah)
Míetsɔ Mawu ƒo adegbe ŋkeke blibo la, eye míakafu wò ŋkɔ tegbetegbe. (Sela)
9 But now you rejected us, and brought us to dishonor, and do not go out with our armies.
Ke azɔ la, ègbe mí, eye nèbɔbɔ mí ɖe anyi; azɔ la, mègadona kple míaƒe aʋakɔwo o.
10 You make us turn back from the adversary. Those who hate us take plunder for themselves.
11 You have made us like sheep for food, and have scattered us among the nations.
Ètsɔ mí na be woavuvu mí abe alẽwo ene, eye nèkaka mí ɖe dukɔwo dome.
12 You sell your people for nothing, and have gained nothing from their sale.
Ètsɔ wò dukɔ la dzra ho kpɔtsɔe eye mèkpɔ naneke le wo dzadzra me o.
13 You make us a reproach to our neighbors, a scoffing and a derision to those who are around us.
Ètsɔ mí wɔ vlodonu na míaƒe aƒelikawo, eye míezu alɔmeɖenu kple nu ɖikokoe na ame siwo ƒo xlã mí.
14 You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.
Ètsɔ mí wɔ lodonu le dukɔwo dome, eye amewo ʋuʋua ta ɖe mía ŋu ne wokpɔ mí.
15 All day long my dishonor is before me, and shame covers my face,
Nye vlododo le ŋkunye me ŋkeke blibo la, eye ŋukpe tsyɔa mo nam,
16 at the taunt of one who reproaches and verbally abuses, because of the enemy and the avenger.
17 All this has come on us, yet we have not forgotten you. We have not been false to your covenant.
Togbɔ be míeŋlɔ wò be, alo da alakpa le wò nubabla la me o hã la, èna nu siawo katã va mía dzi.
18 Our heart has not turned back, neither have our steps strayed from your path,
Míaƒe dziwo metrɔ le yowòme o, eye míaƒe afɔwo hã metra le wò mɔ dzi o.
19 though you have crushed us in the haunt of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death.
Gake ègbã mí gudugudu hegble mí ɖe amegaxiwo dome, eye nètsɔ viviti tsiɖitsiɖi tsyɔ mía dzi.
20 If we have forgotten the name of our God, or spread out our hands to a strange god,
Nenye ɖe míeŋlɔ míaƒe Mawu ŋkɔ be, alo ke míaƒe abɔwo na dzromawu aɖe la,
21 will not God search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart.
ɖe Mawu manya esi wònya dzimenu ɣaɣlawo katã oa?
22 Yes, for your sake we are killed all day long. We are regarded as sheep for the slaughter.
23 Wake up! Why do you sleep, Lord? Arise! Do not reject us forever.
Nyɔ, O Aƒetɔ! Nu ka ta nèle alɔ̃ dɔm ɖo? Fɔ! Mègagbe mí ɖikaa o.
24 Why do you hide your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?
25 For our soul is bowed down to the dust. Our body clings to the earth.
Wohe mí ƒu ke me, eye míaƒe ŋutilã lé ɖe anyigba.
26 Rise up to help us. Redeem us for your loving kindness’ sake.
Tso, nàxɔ na mí, ɖe mí le wò lɔlɔ̃ si meʋãna o la ta.
