Proverbs 24
1 Do not be envious of evil men, neither desire to be with them;
| بر مردان شریر حسد مبر، و آرزو مدارتا با ایشان معاشرت نمایی، | ۱ |
2 for their hearts plot violence and their lips talk about mischief.
| زیرا که دل ایشان در ظلم تفکر می‌کند ولبهای ایشان درباره مشقت تکلم می‌نماید. | ۲ |
3 Through wisdom a house is built; by understanding it is established;
| خانه به حکمت بنا می‌شود، و با فطانت استوار می‌گردد، | ۳ |
4 by knowledge the rooms are filled with all rare and beautiful treasure.
| و به معرفت اطاقها پر می‌شود، از هر گونه اموال گرانبها و نفایس. | ۴ |
5 A wise man has great power. A knowledgeable man increases strength,
| مرد حکیم در قدرت می‌ماند، و صاحب معرفت در توانایی ترقی می‌کند، | ۵ |
6 for by wise guidance you wage your war, and victory is in many advisors.
| زیرا که با حسن تدبیر باید جنگ بکنی، و ازکثرت مشورت دهندگان نصرت است. | ۶ |
7 Wisdom is too high for a fool. He does not open his mouth in the gate.
| حکمت برای احمق زیاده بلند است، دهان خود را در دربار باز نمی کند. | ۷ |
8 One who plots to do evil will be called a schemer.
| هر‌که برای بدی تفکر می‌کند، او را فتنه انگیزمی گویند. | ۸ |
9 The schemes of folly are sin. The mocker is detested by men.
| فکر احمقان گناه است، و استهزاکننده نزد آدمیان مکروه است. | ۹ |
10 If you falter in the time of trouble, your strength is small.
| اگر در روز تنگی سستی نمایی، قوت توتنگ می‌شود. | ۱۰ |
11 Rescue those who are being led away to death! Indeed, hold back those who are staggering to the slaughter!
| آنانی را که برای موت برده شوند خلاص کن، و از رهانیدن آنانی که برای قتل مهیااندکوتاهی منما. | ۱۱ |
12 If you say, “Behold, we did not know this,” does not he who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, does not he know it? Shall he not render to every man according to his work?
| اگر گویی که این را ندانستیم، آیا آزماینده دلها نمی فهمد؟ و حافظ جان تو نمی داند؟ و به هرکس برحسب اعمالش مکافات نخواهد داد؟ | ۱۲ |
13 My son, eat honey, for it is good, the droppings of the honeycomb, which are sweet to your taste;
| ای پسر من عسل را بخور زیرا که خوب است، و‌شان عسل را چونکه به کامت شیرین است. | ۱۳ |
14 so you shall know wisdom to be to your soul. If you have found it, then there will be a reward: Your hope will not be cut off.
| همچنین حکمت را برای جان خود بیاموز، اگر آن را بیابی آنگاه اجرت خواهد بود، و امید تومنقطع نخواهد شد. | ۱۴ |
15 Do not lay in wait, wicked man, against the habitation of the righteous. Do not destroy his resting place;
| ای شریر برای منزل مرد عادل در کمین مباش، و آرامگاه او را خراب مکن، | ۱۵ |
16 for a righteous man falls seven times and rises up again, but the wicked are overthrown by calamity.
| زیرا مرد عادل اگر‌چه هفت مرتبه بیفتدخواهد برخاست، اما شریران در بلا خواهندافتاد. | ۱۶ |
17 Do not rejoice when your enemy falls. Do not let your heart be glad when he is overthrown,
| چون دشمنت بیفتد شادی مکن، و چون بلغزد دلت وجد ننماید، | ۱۷ |
18 lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
| مبادا خداوند این را ببیند و در نظرش ناپسند آید، و غضب خود را از او برگرداند. | ۱۸ |
19 Do not fret yourself because of evildoers, neither be envious of the wicked;
| خویشتن را به‌سبب بدکاران رنجیده مساز، و بر شریران حسد مبر، | ۱۹ |
20 for there will be no reward to the evil man. The lamp of the wicked will be snuffed out.
| زیرا که به جهت بدکاران اجر نخواهد بود، و چراغ شریران خاموش خواهد گردید. | ۲۰ |
21 My son, fear the LORD and the king. Do not join those who are rebellious,
| ای پسر من از خداوند و پادشاه بترس، و بامفسدان معاشرت منما، | ۲۱ |
22 for their calamity will rise suddenly. Who knows what destruction may come from them both?
| زیرا که مصیبت ایشان ناگهان خواهدبرخاست، و عاقبت سالهای ایشان را کیست که بداند؟ | ۲۲ |
23 These also are sayings of the wise: To show partiality in judgment is not good.
| اینها نیز از (سخنان ) حکیمان است طرفداری در داوری نیکو نیست. | ۲۳ |
24 He who says to the wicked, “You are righteous,” peoples will curse him, and nations will abhor him—
| کسی‌که به شریر بگوید تو عادل هستی، امت‌ها او را لعنت خواهند کرد و طوایف از اونفرت خواهند نمود. | ۲۴ |
25 but it will go well with those who convict the guilty, and a rich blessing will come on them.
| اما برای آنانی که او را توبیخ نمایندشادمانی خواهد بود، و برکت نیکو به ایشان خواهد رسید. | ۲۵ |
26 An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips.
| آنکه به کلام راست جواب گوید لبها رامی بوسد. | ۲۶ |
27 Prepare your work outside, and get your fields ready. Afterwards, build your house.
| کار خود را در خارج آراسته کن، و آن را درملک مهیا ساز، و بعد از آن خانه خویش را بنا نما. | ۲۷ |
28 Do not be a witness against your neighbor without cause. Do not deceive with your lips.
| بر همسایه خود بی‌جهت شهادت مده، و بالبهای خود فریب مده، | ۲۸ |
29 Do not say, “I will do to him as he has done to me; I will repay the man according to his work.”
| و مگو به طوری که او به من عمل کرد من نیزبا وی عمل خواهم نمود، و مرد را برحسب اعمالش پاداش خواهم داد. | ۲۹ |
30 I went by the field of the sluggard, by the vineyard of the man void of understanding.
| از مزرعه مرد کاهل، و از تاکستان شخص ناقص العقل گذشتم. | ۳۰ |
31 Behold, it was all grown over with thorns. Its surface was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down.
| و اینک بر تمامی آن خارها می‌رویید، وخس تمامی روی آن را می‌پوشانید، و دیوارسنگیش خراب شده بود، | ۳۱ |
32 Then I saw, and considered well. I saw, and received instruction:
| پس من نگریسته متفکر شدم، ملاحظه کردم و ادب آموختم. | ۳۲ |
33 a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep,
| اندکی خفت و اندکی خواب، و اندکی بر هم نهادن دستها به جهت خواب. | ۳۳ |
34 so your poverty will come as a robber and your want as an armed man.
| پس فقر تو مثل راهزن بر تو خواهد آمد، ونیازمندی تو مانند مرد مسلح. | ۳۴ |
