< Proverbs 24 >

1 Do not be envious of evil men, neither desire to be with them;
Mègabiã ŋu ame vɔ̃ɖiwo o, mègadi woƒe hamenɔnɔ o
2 for their hearts plot violence and their lips talk about mischief.
elabena woƒe dzi ɖoa nu tovo eye woƒe nuyiwo ƒoa nu tso nu gbegblẽ wɔwɔ ŋuti.
3 Through wisdom a house is built; by understanding it is established;
Nunya wotsɔna tua xɔe eye gɔmesese wotsɔna ɖoa egɔme anyie,
4 by knowledge the rooms are filled with all rare and beautiful treasure.
to sidzedze me wotsɔa nu nyui tɔxɛ siwo mebɔ o kple kesinɔnu nyuiwo yɔa woƒe xɔwo mee.
5 A wise man has great power. A knowledgeable man increases strength,
Ŋusẽ gã aɖe le nunyala si eye ame si si gɔmesese le la dzia eƒe ŋusẽ ɖe edzi.
6 for by wise guidance you wage your war, and victory is in many advisors.
Èhiã nufiame hafi adze aʋa eye hafi dziɖuɖu nava la, èhiã aɖaŋuɖola geɖewo.
7 Wisdom is too high for a fool. He does not open his mouth in the gate.
Nunya kɔ boo na bometsila akpa; le amehawo dome, le agbo nu la, nya aɖeke mele esi wòagblɔ o.
8 One who plots to do evil will be called a schemer.
Ame si ɖo vɔ̃ be yeawɔ lae woyɔna be ame vɔ̃ɖi.
9 The schemes of folly are sin. The mocker is detested by men.
Bometsinuwo ɖoɖo nye nu vɔ̃ eye amewo tsria fewuɖula.
10 If you falter in the time of trouble, your strength is small.
Ne èʋuʋu le xaxaɣi la, aleke wò ŋusẽ mehele sue o?
11 Rescue those who are being led away to death! Indeed, hold back those who are staggering to the slaughter!
Ɖe ame siwo wokplɔ yina wuwu ge eye xɔ na ame siwo le yiyim sɔgɔsɔgɔ yina ɖe ku me.
12 If you say, “Behold, we did not know this,” does not he who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, does not he know it? Shall he not render to every man according to his work?
13 My son, eat honey, for it is good, the droppings of the honeycomb, which are sweet to your taste;
Vinye, no anyitsi elabena enyo; anyitsi tso anyito me avivi le wò nu me.
14 so you shall know wisdom to be to your soul. If you have found it, then there will be a reward: Your hope will not be cut off.
Nyae hã be, nunya avivi wò luʋɔ nu; ne èke ɖe eŋu la, mɔkpɔkpɔ li na wò hena etsɔ si gbɔna eye wò mɔkpɔkpɔ mazu dzodzro o.
15 Do not lay in wait, wicked man, against the habitation of the righteous. Do not destroy his resting place;
Mègade xa ɖe ame dzɔdzɔe ƒe aƒe ŋu o, mègava ha enɔƒe o
16 for a righteous man falls seven times and rises up again, but the wicked are overthrown by calamity.
elabena togbɔ be ame dzɔdzɔe adze anyi zi adre hã la, agafɔ gake ame vɔ̃ɖiwo ya la, dzɔgbevɔ̃e ahe wo aƒu anyi.
17 Do not rejoice when your enemy falls. Do not let your heart be glad when he is overthrown,
Mègakpɔ dziɖuɖu ƒe dzidzɔ ne wò futɔ dze anyi o, eye ne ekli nu la, dzi megadzɔ wò o,
18 lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
elabena Yehowa akpɔe, eye madze eŋu o, eye wòaɖe eƒe dziku ɖa le edzi.
19 Do not fret yourself because of evildoers, neither be envious of the wicked;
Mègadzo nyanyanya le ame vɔ̃ɖiwo ta alo aʋã ŋu ŋutasẽla o,
20 for there will be no reward to the evil man. The lamp of the wicked will be snuffed out.
elabena mɔkpɔkpɔ aɖeke meli na ame vɔ̃ɖi ɖe etsɔ si gbɔna ŋuti o eye woatsi ŋutasẽlawo ƒe akaɖi.
21 My son, fear the LORD and the king. Do not join those who are rebellious,
Vinye, vɔ̃ Yehowa kple fia la eye mègade aglãdzelawo dzi o
22 for their calamity will rise suddenly. Who knows what destruction may come from them both?
elabena ame eve mawo ana gbegblẽ naƒo ɖe wo dzi kpoyi eye ame kae nya dzɔgbevɔ̃e si woate ŋu ahe vɛ?
23 These also are sayings of the wise: To show partiality in judgment is not good.
Esiawo hã nye nunyalawo ƒe nyagbɔgblɔwo: Akpa ɖeka dzi dede le ʋɔnudɔdrɔ̃ me menyo o.
24 He who says to the wicked, “You are righteous,” peoples will curse him, and nations will abhor him—
Ame si agblɔ na fɔɖila be, “Mèdze agɔ o” la, amewo ado ɖiŋu nɛ eye dukɔwo anyɔ ŋui.
25 but it will go well with those who convict the guilty, and a rich blessing will come on them.
Ke eme anyo na ame siwo abu fɔ agɔdzela eye yayra gãwo ava wo ameawo dzi.
26 An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips.
Nyaŋuɖoɖo ɖe ɖoɖo nu le abe nugbugbɔ ene.
27 Prepare your work outside, and get your fields ready. Afterwards, build your house.
Wu wò gotadɔwo nu eye nàdzra wò agble me ɖo, ema megbe la, tu wò xɔ.
28 Do not be a witness against your neighbor without cause. Do not deceive with your lips.
Mègaɖu ɖasefo ɖe hawòvi ŋu dzodzro alo atsɔ wò nuyiwo aka aʋatsoe o.
29 Do not say, “I will do to him as he has done to me; I will repay the man according to his work.”
Mègagblɔ be, “Mele ewɔ ge nɛ abe ale si wòwɔe ɖe ŋutinye ene, mele eteƒe ɖo ge na ŋutsu sia ɖe nu si wòwɔ la ta” o.
30 I went by the field of the sluggard, by the vineyard of the man void of understanding.
Meto kuviatɔ kple ame manyanu ƒe waingble ŋu yi;
31 Behold, it was all grown over with thorns. Its surface was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down.
ŋu vu tsyɔ afi sia afi, gbe to ɖe eme katã eye kpekpɔ la kaka le eŋu.
32 Then I saw, and considered well. I saw, and received instruction:
Metsɔ nye dzi ɖo nu si mekpɔ la ŋu eye mesrɔ̃ nu tso nu si mekpɔ la me.
33 a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep,
Dɔ alɔ̃ vie, dɔ akɔlɔ̃e sẽe, ŋlɔ wò abɔwo nàdzudzɔ vie,
34 so your poverty will come as a robber and your want as an armed man.
tete ahedada aƒo ɖe dziwò abe adzodala ene, eye hiã abe aʋakalẽtɔ si bla akpa ene.
