Proverbs 18
1 A man who isolates himself pursues selfishness, and defies all sound judgment.
১যি জনে নিজকে পৃথকে ৰাখে, তেওঁ কেৱল নিজৰ আকাংক্ষা সিদ্ধিৰ চেষ্টা কৰে, আৰু সকলো সুপৰামৰ্শৰ বিৰুদ্ধে যুঁজ কৰে।
2 A fool has no delight in understanding, but only in revealing his own opinion.
২অজ্ঞানী লোকে বিবেচনাত সন্তোষ নাপায়, কিন্তু কেৱল নিজৰ হৃদয়ত থকা কথা প্ৰকাশ কৰে।
3 When wickedness comes, contempt also comes, and with shame comes disgrace.
৩যেতিয়া দুষ্ট লোক আহে, তেওঁৰ লগত অপমানো আহে; আৰু অপমানৰ লগত নিন্দাও আহে।
4 The words of a man’s mouth are like deep waters. The fountain of wisdom is like a flowing brook.
৪মানুহৰ মুখৰ কথা গভীৰ জলৰ দৰে; প্রজ্ঞাৰ ভুমুক বৈ থকা জুৰিৰ নিচিনা।
5 To be partial to the faces of the wicked is not good, nor to deprive the innocent of justice.
৫দুষ্ট লোকলৈ পক্ষপাত হোৱা ভাল নহয়, আৰু ন্যায় কৰা সকলৰ বিচাৰ অগ্রাহ্য কৰা ভাল নহয়।
6 A fool’s lips come into strife, and his mouth invites beatings.
৬অজ্ঞানী লোকৰ ওঁঠে তেওঁৰ লগত বিবাদ আনে, আৰু তেওঁৰ মুখৰ কথাই তেওঁক মাৰ খোৱাই।
7 A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are a snare to his soul.
৭অজ্ঞানী লোকৰ মুখে তেওঁৰ ধ্বংস আনে, আৰু তেওঁৰ ওঁঠে তেওঁক ফান্দত পেলাই।
8 The words of a gossip are like dainty morsels: they go down into a person’s innermost parts.
৮পৰচৰ্চ্চাকাৰীৰ কথা সুস্বাদু আহাৰৰ দৰে; সেয়ে শৰীৰৰ ভিতৰৰ অংশলৈকে সোমায় যায়।
9 One who is slack in his work is brother to him who is a master of destruction.
৯আৰু যি জনে নিজৰ কাৰ্যত অৱহেলা কৰে, তেওঁ ধ্বংসকাৰীৰ ভায়েকৰ দৰে।
10 The LORD’s name is a strong tower: the righteous run to him, and are safe.
১০যিহোৱাৰ নাম দৃঢ় দুৰ্গ স্বৰূপ; সৎ কাৰ্য কৰা লোকে পলাই গৈ সেই দুৰ্গত ৰক্ষা পায়।
11 The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, like an unscalable wall in his own imagination.
১১ধনৱানৰ ধন-সম্পত্তিয়েই তেওঁৰ দৃঢ় নগৰ; আৰু তেওঁৰ কল্পনাত সেইবোৰ ওখ দেৱালৰ দৰে।
12 Before destruction the heart of man is proud, but before honor is humility.
১২পতনৰ পূৰ্বে মানুহৰ হৃদয় অহংকাৰী হয়, কিন্তু নম্ৰতা সন্মানৰ আগে আহে।
13 He who answers before he hears, that is folly and shame to him.
১৩যি জনে নুশুনাৰ পূৰ্বেই উত্তৰ দিয়ে, সেয়ে তেওঁৰ অজ্ঞানতা আৰু অপমান।
14 A man’s spirit will sustain him in sickness, but a crushed spirit, who can bear?
১৪মানুহৰ আত্মাই অসুস্থতাতো জীয়াই ৰাখিব; কিন্তু ভগ্ন আত্মাক কোনে সহিব পাৰে?
15 The heart of the discerning gets knowledge. The ear of the wise seeks knowledge.
১৫বুধিয়কৰ হৃদয়ে জ্ঞান অৰ্জন কৰে, আৰু জ্ঞানী লোকে শুনাৰ দ্বাৰাই জ্ঞান বিচাৰি পায়।
16 A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.
১৬মানুহৰ উপহাৰে হয়তো পথ মুকলি কৰিব পাৰে, আৰু গণ্যমান্য লোকৰ আগলৈ তেওঁক লৈ যায়।
17 He who pleads his cause first seems right— until another comes and questions him.
১৭যেতিয়ালৈকে বিপক্ষ জন আহি তেওঁক প্রশ্ন নকৰে; তেতিয়ালৈকে গোচৰত প্ৰথমে উপস্থিত হোৱা জন নিৰ্দোষী যেন বোধ হয়;
18 The lot settles disputes, and keeps strong ones apart.
১৮চিঠি-খেলে বিবাদ সমাপ্ত কৰে, আৰু পৰাক্রমী বিপক্ষ সকলক পৃথকে ৰাখে।
19 A brother offended is more difficult than a fortified city. Disputes are like the bars of a fortress.
১৯দৃঢ় নগৰ জয় কৰাতকৈ ক্ষুদ্ধ ভায়েকক জয় কৰা টান; আৰু বিবাদ দূৰ্গত লগোৱা মাৰিৰ দৰে।
20 A man’s stomach is filled with the fruit of his mouth. With the harvest of his lips he is satisfied.
২০নিজৰ মুখৰ ফলেৰে পেট পৰিপূৰ্ণ হয়; আৰু তেওঁৰ ওঁঠৰ শস্যৰে তেওঁ সন্তুষ্ট হয়।
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love it will eat its fruit.
২১জিভাৰ শক্তিত মৃত্যু আৰু জীৱন থাকে; আৰু যিসকলে তাক ভাল পায়, তেওঁলোকে তাৰ ফল ভোগ কৰিব।
22 Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of the LORD.
২২যি জনে ভাৰ্যা পায়, তেওঁ পৰম বস্তু পায়, আৰু যিহোৱাৰ পৰা অনুগ্ৰহ লাভ কৰে।
23 The poor plead for mercy, but the rich answer harshly.
২৩দৰিদ্ৰ লোকে কৃপাৰ বাবে বিনয় কৰে; কিন্তু ধনৱান লোকে কঠুৱা উত্তৰ দিয়ে।
24 A man of many companions may be ruined, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
২৪যি জনে অনেক লোকৰ সৈতে বন্ধুত্ব কৰে, তেওঁ নিজৰ সৰ্ব্বনাশলৈহে তাকে কৰে; কিন্তু এনে বন্ধু থাকে যি ভায়েকতকৈ আপোন হয়।
