< Proverbs 15 >

1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Icookio rĩa ũhooreri nĩrĩeheragia mangʼũrĩ, no kiugo kĩa ũũru kĩarahũraga marakara.
2 The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouths of fools gush out folly.
Rũrĩmĩ rwa mũndũ ũrĩa mũũgĩ rũgaathagĩrĩria ũmenyo, no kanua ka mũndũ mũkĩĩgu gathothokaga ũrimũ.
3 The LORD’s eyes are everywhere, keeping watch on the evil and the good.
Maitho ma Jehova marĩ kũndũ guothe, magacũthagĩrĩria andũ arĩa aaganu o na arĩa eega.
4 A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but deceit in it crushes the spirit.
Rũrĩmĩ rũrĩa rũrehaga kĩhonia nĩ ta mũtĩ wa muoyo, no rũrĩmĩ rwa maheeni rũthuthaga ngoro.
5 A fool despises his father’s correction, but he who heeds reproof shows prudence.
Mũndũ mũkĩĩgu aregaga ũtaaro wa ithe, no mũndũ ũrĩa wĩtĩkagĩra kũrũngwo onanagia ũbaarĩrĩri.
6 In the house of the righteous is much treasure, but the income of the wicked brings trouble.
Nyũmba ya mũndũ mũthingu ĩkoragwo na kĩgĩĩna kĩnene, no uumithio wa andũ aaganu ũmarehagĩra thĩĩna.
7 The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so with the heart of fools.
Mĩromo ya andũ arĩa oogĩ ĩtambagia o ũũgĩ, no tiguo ngoro cia andũ arĩa akĩĩgu ciĩkaga.
8 The sacrifice made by the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
Igongona rĩa andũ arĩa aaganu nĩ kĩndũ kĩrĩ magigi harĩ Jehova, no mahooya ma mũndũ ũrĩa mũrũngĩrĩru nĩamakenagĩrĩra.
9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but he loves him who follows after righteousness.
Njĩra cia andũ arĩa aaganu nĩ kĩndũ kĩrĩ magigi harĩ Jehova, no nĩendete andũ arĩa mathingataga ũthingu.
10 There is stern discipline for one who forsakes the way. Whoever hates reproof shall die.
Iherithia rĩtarĩ rĩa tha rĩetereire mũndũ ũrĩa ũtigĩte njĩra, na mũndũ ũrĩa ũthũire kũrũngwo nĩagaakua.
11 Sheol (Sheol h7585) and Abaddon are before the LORD— how much more then the hearts of the children of men!
Gĩkuũ na Mwanangĩko ciikaraga ciĩyanĩkĩte mbere ya Jehova, ĩ nacio ngoro cia andũ-rĩ, ikĩĩanĩkĩte atĩa! (Sheol h7585)
12 A scoffer does not love to be reproved; he will not go to the wise.
Mũnyũrũrania nĩathũire kũrũngwo; ndangĩhooya kĩrĩra kũrĩ ũrĩa mũũgĩ.
13 A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but an aching heart breaks the spirit.
Ngoro ngenu ĩtũmaga gĩthiithi gĩthere, no ruo rwa ngoro rũthuthaga roho.
14 The heart of one who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouths of fools feed on folly.
Ngoro ĩrĩ na gũkũũrana maũndũ nĩĩmaathaga ũmenyo, no kanua ka mũndũ mũkĩĩgu kehũũnagia na ũrimũ.
15 All the days of the afflicted are wretched, but one who has a cheerful heart enjoys a continual feast.
Matukũ mothe ma andũ arĩa ahatĩrĩrie nĩ ma thĩĩna, no ngoro ĩrĩa njanjamũku ĩkoragwo na ndĩa hĩndĩ ciothe.
16 Better is little, with the fear of the LORD, than great treasure with trouble.
Nĩ kaba kĩndũ kĩnini hamwe na gwĩtigĩra Jehova, gũkĩra ũtonga mũnene ũrĩ na kĩnyariirĩko.
17 Better is a dinner of herbs, where love is, than a fattened calf with hatred.
Nĩ kaba kũrĩa rwĩga rwa nyeni harĩa harĩ wendo, gũkĩra kũrĩa njaũ noru harĩa harĩ na rũthũũro.
18 A wrathful man stirs up contention, but one who is slow to anger appeases strife.
Mũndũ ũhiũhaga kũrakara aarahũraga ngarari, no mũndũ mũkirĩrĩria nĩkũhooreria ahooragĩria haaro.
19 The way of the sluggard is like a thorn patch, but the path of the upright is a highway.
Njĩra ya kĩgũũta nĩkũhingwo ĩhingĩtwo na mĩigua, no njĩra ya mũndũ mũrũngĩrĩru nĩ njĩra njariĩ.
20 A wise son makes a father glad, but a foolish man despises his mother.
Mwana mũũgĩ atũmaga ithe akene, no mũndũ mũkĩĩgu nĩ nyina anyararaga.
21 Folly is joy to one who is void of wisdom, but a man of understanding keeps his way straight.
Ũrimũ ũkenagia mũndũ ũrĩa ũtooĩ gũkũũrana maũndũ, no mũndũ ũrĩa mũkuũku nĩarũngagĩrĩria mĩthiĩre yake.
22 Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established.
Mĩbango nĩĩthaataga nĩ kwaga kĩrĩra, no kũrĩ na ataarani aingĩ mĩbango nĩĩgaacagĩra.
23 Joy comes to a man with the reply of his mouth. How good is a word at the right time!
Mũndũ nĩaiguaga gĩkeno agĩcookia ũhoro ũrĩa wagĩrĩire, nakĩo kiugo kĩarĩtio ihinda rĩrĩa rĩagĩrĩire, kaĩ nĩ kĩega-ĩ!
24 The path of life leads upward for the wise, to keep him from going downward to Sheol (Sheol h7585).
Harĩ mũndũ ũrĩa mũũgĩ njĩra ya muoyo ĩrorete na igũrũ, ĩmũgirie gũikũrũka mbĩrĩra-inĩ. (Sheol h7585)
25 The LORD will uproot the house of the proud, but he will keep the widow’s borders intact.
Jehova nĩamomoraga nyũmba ya mũndũ ũrĩa mwĩtĩĩi, no nĩamenyagĩrĩra mĩhaka ya mũtumia wa ndigwa.
26 The LORD detests the thoughts of the wicked, but the thoughts of the pure are pleasing.
Meciiria ma mũndũ mwaganu nĩ kĩndũ kĩrĩ magigi harĩ Jehova, no meciiria ma andũ arĩa atheru nĩmamũkenagia.
27 He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house, but he who hates bribes will live.
Mũndũ mũkoroku arehagĩra nyũmba yake thĩĩna, no ũrĩa ũthũire mahaki nĩagatũũra muoyo.
28 The heart of the righteous weighs answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes out evil.
Ngoro ya mũndũ mũthingu nĩĩthimaga macookio mayo, no kanua ka mũndũ mwaganu gathothokaga ũũru.
29 The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.
Jehova aikaraga haraaya na andũ arĩa aaganu, no nĩaiguaga mahooya ma andũ arĩa athingu.
30 The light of the eyes rejoices the heart. Good news gives health to the bones.
Gũtheria gĩthiithi nĩkũrehagĩra ngoro gĩkeno, naguo ũhoro ũrĩa mwega nĩwĩkĩraga mahĩndĩ hinya.
31 The ear that listens to reproof lives, and will be at home among the wise.
Mũndũ ũrĩa ũthikagĩrĩria ikaanania rĩrĩa rĩrehaga muoyo nĩagatũũrania na andũ arĩa oogĩ.
32 He who refuses correction despises his own soul, but he who listens to reproof gets understanding.
Mũndũ ũrĩa ũregaga kũigua agĩkaanio nĩ kwĩnyarara enyararaga we mwene, no mũndũ ũrĩa wothe wĩtĩkagĩra kũrũngwo agĩĩaga na ũtaũku.
33 The fear of the LORD teaches wisdom. Before honor is humility.
Gwĩtigĩra Jehova nĩkuo kũheaga mũndũ ũũgĩ, nakuo kwĩnyiihia gũtongoragia gĩtĩĩo.
